Chapter 91: 91: B-class dungeon- Part 2
"Liam, I think we should help them out now. It does not look like these guys can handle it anymore."
Asger pointed out in a sorry voice. He looked uncomfortable seeing the trio fighting hard against the monsters but not getting any results to show for it.
Even Liam was beginning to feel sorry for the three, who were being one-sidedly beaten up by the dungeon monsters.
"B-Be careful! These monsters can be too much for a first-timer. If it gets too much for you, then call for me. Y-You also, Liam huff... ask for help if you need any—"
Zane panted as he tried to catch his breath, but just as he turned around to see how Liam was doing, a monster jumped him.
Liam acted fast and attacked the monster, saving Zane’s life. He reacted just as quickly as before and used magic ropes to hold the monsters in place.
"Y-You... what are you..."
Zane tried to speak, but the overuse of magic had left him winded. He instantly collapsed to his knees but pretended he hadn’t. His shaky legs gave him away, but Liam did not comment on it.
"Hurry up and attack these monsters. We need to head to the next hunting location once we’re done here."
Liam killed the monster that tried to sneak up on him, as well as held down every other monster for the party to gain EXP from.
But despite his kindness, the other three stood frozen.
In the end, Liam had to help them out by killing their prey for them. Otherwise, it would have taken far too long to clear out this space.
"Alright! Looks like this is taken care of. Shall we move to a different area now?"
Liam asked the stunned group, causing them to finally snap out of their daze.
Ethan was the first one to comment, his hands shaking as he raised them to point at Liam.
"How can you even stand after all that? Are you not tired? And the magic you used... Didn’t you say you were C-class? Are you trying to trick us?"
The young boy sounded as baffled as he felt at the moment.
Liam had no need to give any justification, but he still decided to clear his name.
"I am a C-class magician. If you don’t believe me, then I can even show you my license. I got it yesterday."
Ethan made a face that clearly showed he did not believe Liam. So Liam felt like he had no choice but to take out his license and show it to the kids.
It was snatched out of his hands before Liam could say anything.
"Fuck! It does say you are C-class. But I don’t believe this anymore. You should get yourself checked again."
"I’ll think about it."
Liam quickly took his license back as he said those words.
In reality, he had no intention of getting retested so soon. He could still use his license and try leveling up in smaller dungeons before moving up. He had the luxury known as time on his side.
"I agree. We should move from here. Since we killed a lot of beasts, others will start heading this way soon to try and scavenge their corpses. We should get to a safer place so that we don’t get caught in the crossfire."
Zane had recovered by that time and helped Elaine stand up as well. The girl looked green in the face, ready to lose her breakfast at any moment.
Liam felt sorry for her and decided to move to a safer location. He had already sensed one not too far away.
Liam led the group to a small, secluded cave nestled between towering rock formations. It was the safest spot he had found in the area, shielded from wandering monsters and natural hazards.
The moment they entered, Elaine slumped against the cave wall, still pale from exhaustion, while Ethan paced restlessly, clearly unhappy with how things had unfolded.
Zane, on the other hand, was quiet. He kept glancing at Liam as if trying to figure him out.
The way Liam had handled the monsters earlier was far beyond what a C-class magician should have been capable of, and Zane knew it.
But instead of voicing his thoughts, he simply sighed and nodded in appreciation.
"This should be a good resting spot. I’ll set up a barrier to keep out monsters and other disturbances while you recover."
Liam said, ignoring the tension in the air.
Without waiting for a response, Liam raised his hand, and soft blue runes lit up around the cave’s entrance.
A moment later, an invisible dome formed, ensuring that no ordinary creature—or person—would be able to step inside without triggering an alarm.
Ethan scoffed, arms crossed.
"So, not only are you some freakishly strong C-class magician, but you also know high-level barrier magic? What else? You know some hot-shots in the association as well?"
Liam didn’t even look at him.
"I know a lot of things, but let’s not get into it now."
Ethan opened his mouth to argue, but Zane shot him a look, silencing him.
"I’ll be back in a bit. I’m going to do a little solo farming."
Liam said, turning toward the deeper parts of the forest.
Elaine, who had been quiet this whole time, finally spoke
"Be careful."
Liam blinked in mild surprise but nodded before vanishing into the trees. No one else had been able to say anything else, even if they had been worried for him.
Asger, hidden from view thanks to Liam’s concealment magic, muttered.
"They’re an interesting bunch. Are you gonna keep them around?"
"They’re a liability, but they have potential as well. However, I have no intention of tagging along such a bunch for long. Their issues seem like too much trouble."
Liam corrected.
With that, he moved further into the dungeon, ready to hunt stronger monsters alone. The thrill of battle was calling him, and he was more than ready to answer.
He was the last person to be talking about issues, but Asger chose not to comment on it.
