Chapter 82: 82: Rudeness will not be tolerated - Part 2

Liam took a deep breath, his hands tightening around the papers in his grasp. He had spent so long controlling himself, keeping his emotions in check, and avoiding unnecessary conflicts.

But for the first time in what felt like forever, he let his anger slip.

He didn’t lash out physically, nor did he raise his voice.

Instead, he let his aura leak just a little—just enough for the receptionist to feel the weight of his presence.

Immediately, the air in the office changed.

The woman’s breath hitched, and her body stiffened as an invisible pressure pressed down on her.

Her face, which had been filled with arrogance just moments ago, drained of all color as she struggled to breathe.

Her hands clutched at her throat, her eyes wide with terror.

She instinctively tried to summon magic, a defensive spell, anything—but nothing came. Her mind, usually sharp and composed, was blank with fear.

Even the window she used for connecting with her system gave her an error message.

[Error. User cannot use magic due to abnormal body condition]

Liam watched as her lips parted, a weak gasp escaping her, but no words followed. Her legs trembled as she fought to stay standing.

She looked around in panic, as if searching for help, but no one else in the room seemed to notice what was happening.

But what was more interesting was the transparent screen he could see from the corner of his eyes that almost looked like his system.

He had not asked anyone if they had a system-like interface for magic as well, and he had not seen any either up until now.

’Interesting. So, they can’t feel it. That means my aura is only affecting her. Also, it feels like my magic control and ability to command it just got better.’

That made sense. He hadn’t meant to cause a scene, after all. His control had improved enough that he could direct his pressure toward a single person without alerting everyone around him.

Still, he hadn’t expected this level of reaction.

The receptionist, Nue Rob, was a B-class magician—someone with a decent amount of power and experience. And yet, just a fraction of Liam’s aura had rendered her completely useless.

She tried to speak, but the words died in her throat. Her hands twitched, and her fingers curled as if trying to cast a spell, but her magic refused to obey her.

The fear had taken over.

Liam stepped closer, his footsteps slow and deliberate. With each step, Nue seemed to shrink further into herself, her body trembling like a cornered animal.

Then, just as suddenly as it had come, the pressure disappeared.

Liam withdrew his aura, stuffing his power back into the depths of his control. The receptionist immediately collapsed against the counter, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she gulped in deep, desperate breaths.

Her body was still shaking, and her face was drenched in sweat.

Liam tilted his head slightly, watching her reaction with mild curiosity. He wanted to push more, but a sharp pair of claws dug into his shoulder and reminded Liam that he was not as alone as he thought he was.

"Oi human, I think that is enough. You might kill someone at this rate."

Asger reminded and he seemed to be the only thing that was not afraid of Liam’s aura. Even others who were not detecting Liam’s aura directly somehow knew that they needed to leave him alone.

’This must be because of the familiar contract. Looks like there is a lot that I need to learn after all.’

Liam took a deep breath before he controlled his powers and recalled them all back. He had shown more than he needed to and gotten his point across.

"Next time, watch your attitude. Not everyone is as kind as me."

He said, his voice calm but laced with warning.

With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving the terrified receptionist staring after him, too shaken to say a single word.

______

"I’ve never seen you like that, human. It almost felt like you were someone else for a second. Did you get possessed or something? Do I need to fight you to get your senses back?"

Asger asked in a questioning voice as he kept an eye on Liam.

Objectively, it made sense why Asger sounded worried about Liam. After all, he had only seen Liam as a calm and forgiving human up until now, so it made sense that this was new territory for him.

But for Liam, it almost felt like he was returning to his roots. Being free to do what he wanted felt... right.

"Don’t worry, Asger. I am not possessed or sick. I just decided to stop playing nice with these people who do not deserve it while I am in this form. It feels refreshing to let loose once in a while."

Liam’s voice sounded calm now, and it also did not seem like he had lost his mind. So after a few more seconds of keeping an eye on him, Asger decided to just accept that his contractor might have a case of dual personality or something.

He was not going to question it since it did not matter anymore.

"Now then, shall we head to the C-class dungeon now? I have a feeling it will be much more fun than the D-class one."

Liam assured the half-dragon on top of his head.

"M-Master Vale, please stop! I-I need you to stop. Please, I need to talk to you about something."

Liam was almost out of the door when he heard that desperate cry calling out to him. He stopped to look back and noticed a well-dressed and sharp man heading his way.

The man was almost running, but it did not seem as if he was running at all. That was how elegantly he walked and moved.

’System, who is that man?’
