Chapter 45: 45: An interesting offer - Part 3

Aria exhaled slowly, a slight frown on her face. This had become an annoying habit. These people had better have a good reason for constantly following her around. Her patience was wearing thin.

As she turned to leave, something in her gut told her she wasn’t done yet.

It wasn’t the usual tingling she got from her magic; it was something else, an instinct she had honed over years of being on edge in a world full of power-hungry people. She wasn’t alone anymore.

From the shadows, two figures appeared, walking toward her with purpose. Aria’s eyes narrowed as she did not recognize.

"Well, well, look what we have here,"

Leglois said with a smirk, not even bothering to acknowledge the fallen bodies of the stalkers.

"Seems like we’re cleaning up after someone else’s mess again."

Aiden, standing beside his sister, rolled his shoulders and adjusted the straps on his jacket, his eyes locked on Aria.

"I was hoping we wouldn’t have to deal with someone like you, but it looks like we have no choice. The boss doesn’t like loose ends."

Aria didn’t flinch at their words. She was used to hearing threats, especially from people like them. But she didn’t expect them to be so nonchalant about everything. These two clearly had no idea who they were dealing with.

Leglois let out an exaggerated sigh, her voice dripping with disdain.

"I just finished dragging that idiot to our boss, and now I have to clean up after someone else’s failure? I really don’t need a second mission tonight."

Aria’s eyebrow quirked in confusion, but she didn’t let that distract her. Her instincts told her to act first, think later. She wasn’t going to let these two play her like they had played the others. The siblings might have been talented, but they were not in her league.

"Are you here for a beating as well?"

Aria said coolly, her eyes locking onto Leglois. She raised her hand again, this time her magic swirling in the air with a darker intensity.

Before either sibling could react, Aria’s energy pulsed, and an invisible force slammed into them, knocking them off their feet.

They tried to fight back, but Aria was already too fast, too strong. With a flick of her wrist, the ground beneath them seemed to quake as she released another surge of magic, trapping their movements.

They were both completely immobilized, their bodies locked in place as Aria’s magic wrapped around them like iron chains.

Leglois’ eyes widened in disbelief.

"What the hell? How are you—"

Aiden gritted his teeth, his arms straining against the magical hold, but it was no use. He could feel the weight of Aria’s power pressing down on him like a mountain.

The siblings were strong, but Aria was on another level entirely. She had years of experience dealing with situations like this, and her calm demeanor only added to the sense of inevitability that hung in the air.

"Questions can come later. For now, you’re going to stay out of my way."

Aria said, her tone sharp.

She stepped closer to them, her magic flaring with such force that it sent tremors through the ground. The siblings’ eyes were wide with fear, but they couldn’t move or speak. Aria leaned down, her voice low but full of authority.

"You were watching me, weren’t you? Are you my fans as well? Then, prove yourself."

Aiden and Leglois exchanged a look. They had underestimated her carelessness and unawareness. Aria had not even realized that she was being threatened.

But despite their panic, neither of them spoke. They knew how dangerous Aria could be when she was irritated, and it didn’t look like she was in the mood for a conversation.

Aria’s eyes flicked from one sibling to the other with disinterest.

With another flick of her hand, she released the magic that bound them, letting them drop to the ground. They were still dazed, but now they were at her mercy.

"I don’t need to know everything right now. As my fans, prove yourself."

She said, her voice cold.

Aiden and Leglois exchanged looks, but neither said a word. They were clearly calculating, unsure of how to respond to her directness.

Aria sighed, already tired of the game.

"No? Well, I guess we’ll have to do this the hard way."

She took a step back, ready to escalate things further if they didn’t comply. With her power, she could break them easily, and they knew it. Now, it was time for her to let loose.

The siblings attacked, their hesitation clear in the way they moved. But Aria did not notice any of it when she fought them.

Before the siblings knew it, they were lying flat on their back and Aria looked at them with a disappointed look in her eyes.

"Tsk, so weak and useless. You make me almost ashamed to call you my fans. Next time, prepare something better for me."

Aria sounded bored as she faced off against the pair. She was about to walk away when she felt a strong magical presence flying over her head.

For the first time in her life, Aria felt an emotion akin to fear and it made her brace herself. She was ready to launch her attack when someone caught her arm and grounded her.

"Let go of me. Do you want a beating as well? I will give it to you if you don’t let me go right now."

Aria raged as she heated her arm to make the other person let go. But the other person had no intention of letting her go.

Finally, Aria looked back at the person holding her arm, only for her eyes to meet Elder Elias. The elder looked tired but glad to see Aria unhurt.

"You can calm down now, kid. I think we found our leads on the case. I promise I will drag the truth out of these people for you, but only if you stop your rampaging."
