Chapter 158: 158: The Demons are here- Part 1

"Liam, are you sure you want to use a sword? You have never used it before. You might get yourself hurt if you use it all of a sudden."

Asger warned as Liam dodged the huge skeletal hand that reached out for him. As soon as the giant skeleton was within his reach, he forced magic into his sword to stab the bones.

Due to the magic spell cast on the sword, it easily managed to penetrate the tough bones, and the demon flinched.

As the demon backed away, Liam threw a magic spell toward the demon, but unfortunately, it did nothing.

Compared to the damage done with magic, the damage Liam did with his sword was much greater.

"I would rather not use a sword, but as you can see, stabbing a demon with magic is the best way to deal with their real bodies. That being said, I should have finished that demon off the first time I stabbed it."

Liam cursed as he watched Silas stagger but quickly pick himself up. The demon had recovered from the heavy wound it suffered within seconds.

"What the hell?! They told me you did not have your magic back... so what is this?! How are you using your magic when you should be sealed...?"

Silas questioned as he clutched his hurt side.

The demon was visibly getting better, but it was taking much longer than it usually did in Liam’s memories.

"Well, what can I say? I am just that talented that I don’t need most of my power to take care of you."

Liam replied as he faced the demon. He made sure nothing of what he thought showed on his face.

He pretended that he was fearless and that nothing could make him question what he was doing. But in reality, Liam was not so sure about his victory.

"You... I will not let you have your way. How dare you..."

The demon attacked Liam straight on while the giant skeleton body attacked him from above. Liam knew he could only concentrate on defending against one of those attacks at a time.

"Asger, you take care of the skeleton. I will try to finish things down here as soon as possible."

Liam assured, and Asger was quick to follow his orders. A giant claw met the skeleton, and the clashing sound made the forest shake.

The demon did not waste any time going after Liam while this was happening. Its sharp-clawed hand almost scratched Liam’s face, but he was able to block it.

However, Liam’s clumsy movements gave away that he was inexperienced with the sword and could not use it as well as in his past life.

"I see. So you are not used to this sword yet. This means it will be easier for me to kill you—"

Something heavy hit Silas in the side of his head mid-sentence, and his human body went flying, only to crash into the tree trunk.

Liam quickly looked toward his right, where the attack had come from, and had seconds to form a shield to protect himself.

Shelly Bell stood at the side, her staff pointed toward Liam and Silas as she charged another spell to fire.

Liam doubted that this attack would have done much to hurt Silas, but any help was appreciated. Especially when his physical condition was less than ideal at the moment.

"Tsk, I don’t know what is going on here or what happened, but both of you stink. As such, I will take it upon myself to educate you both. Be good juniors for me and settle down. I will show you how to behave in front of your seniors."

Silas, who had been knocked down by Shelly’s attack, quickly shook himself off, his skeletal frame rattling as he pulled himself up.

His red eyes glowed eerily as he rubbed his jaw, feigning irritation.

"Ow. That actually hurt a little. How interesting"

He drawled, flexing his bony fingers.

He tilted his head at Shelly, his hollow sockets narrowing.

"How did you manage to harm me with external magic? That shouldn’t be possible."

Shelly smirked, twirling her staff as she casually rested it against her shoulder.

"Oh? You want to know? Then you’ll have to do better and drag the secret out of my lips."

Silas chuckled, his amusement evident despite the growing tension in the air.

"Feisty."

Without wasting a second, Shelly thrust her staff forward, channeling her magic into the surrounding environment.

Unlike most mages who attacked directly with magic, she cleverly manipulated natural forces, bending them to her will.

The ground trembled beneath Silas’s feet as roots shot out, coiling around his skeletal limbs. A gust of wind carried sharp debris, pelting against his exposed bones like tiny daggers.

Liam, watching intently, quickly realized what Shelly was doing—she wasn’t attacking Silas directly with magic but rather using it to manipulate nature itself.

And it was working.

Silas flinched as a particularly sharp rock cracked against his ribs, causing him to stumble. It wasn’t a fatal injury, but it was enough to make him wary.

Liam, however, could tell that Shelly’s strategy had one major flaw—she didn’t have enough magic reserves to sustain this level of attack for long.

If Silas outlasted her, she would be defenseless.

Liam narrowed his eyes.

’I should help her before she runs out of energy.’

Channeling his magic into the earth, Liam mimicked Shelly’s technique, manipulating his surroundings rather than attacking directly.

He focused on the jagged terrain, commanding the sharp rocks to rise beneath Silas. The ground responded to his call, spikes of stone shooting up and impaling Silas’s bony legs.

Silas let out a surprised snarl as he stumbled, one of his legs cracking under the sudden impact.

Liam didn’t stop. He sent another wave of controlled magic toward the trees. Thick, gnarled vines slithered toward Silas, wrapping around his body and tightening like a noose.

The combined efforts of both Liam and Shelly were finally beginning to show—Silas’s movements became sluggish, his regenerating bones struggling to keep up with the sustained damage.

But Liam knew better than to celebrate too early.

Just as he was about to approach Silas to ensure the demon couldn’t recover, Shelly turned toward him, her staff still glowing with residual magic.
