Chapter 152: 152: Round 2- Part 1
As the announcement for the second round of the tournament echoed through the arena, a wave of unrest spread among the students.
"Attention, competitors! The second round will now begin. All participants must complete a full dungeon run of a Level D dungeon and survive inside for three days. No outside help will be permitted. You will rely on your skills, instincts, and whatever resources you can find within."
A collective groan rippled through the crowd.
"This is ridiculous! We don’t even have enough resources saved up!"
One student complained.
"How are we supposed to last three days in there?"
Another whined.
The supervising teacher, unfazed by the complaints, raised a hand for silence.
"The dungeon contains hidden supply caches. Those who are resourceful enough to find them will have an advantage. This test is designed to assess endurance, strategy, and adaptability. If you cannot handle this, then perhaps you are not suited for this competition."
Liam, standing near the back, let out a silent sigh.
’A Level D dungeon?’
He was expecting something much more difficult. Level D wasn’t even a challenge for him.
"Ugh, this is boring."
Liam muttered under his breath.
Asger, perched on his shoulder, flicked his tail.
"Monsters won’t be the real challenge inside the dungeon. Humans will be."
Liam didn’t doubt it. The true competition wouldn’t come from the dungeon itself—it would come from desperate students who would do anything to secure supplies and eliminate their rivals.
Even now, Liam could feel the weight of dozens of eyes on him. Ever since the results of the first round, he had been the center of attention.
People whispered about him, doubted him, hated him. If they got the chance, they wouldn’t hesitate to gang up on him in the dungeon.
’I’ll deal with it when the time comes’
Liam thought. He could kill monsters but humans were a different problem for him at the moment.
The students were transported into the dungeon in small groups, each appearing in different locations to prevent an immediate bloodbath.
As soon as Liam stepped into the dungeon, he wasted no time. He activated a spell that cloaked his presence, making it nearly impossible for others to track him.
Then, without hesitation, he slipped away into the shadows.
While the others scrambled to form alliances or fight over resources, Liam focused on finding a secure base.
After about an hour of wandering, he came across a cave hidden behind a thick growth of vines. It was deep enough to provide shelter but narrow enough that he could defend it if necessary.
"This will do."
He murmured as he stepped inside.
Asger, still coiled around his shoulders, sniffed the air.
"Not bad. But we still need supplies."
Liam nodded. That was his next priority. However, fortune seemed to favor him today. He could sense a faint trail of magic nearby—one that felt deliberately hidden.
’A supply cache.’
Liam realized.
Grinning, he followed the trail deeper into the dungeon until he came upon a hidden alcove embedded in the cavern walls. There, behind a thin magical barrier, lay a stash of supplies—food, water, medical kits, and even some basic weapons.
Most students wouldn’t have been able to detect this place, let alone access it. But for Liam, breaking the barrier was child’s play. He placed his hand against it, whispered a command, and watched as the barrier unraveled before his eyes.
"Jackpot."
Asger mused.
Liam stepped inside, taking stock of the supplies. If he secured this place, he would have more than enough to last the three days—and prevent others from taking advantage of it.
He extended his hand once more and summoned a new barrier, one far more intricate than the original. This one would only recognize his magical signature, preventing anyone else from getting inside.
Asger gave him a sideways glance.
"I thought you didn’t want to stand out. Hoarding all these supplies isn’t exactly subtle."
Liam chuckled, leaning back against the stone wall.
"It’s too late to stay unnoticed. People are already watching me. If I’m going to be targeted, I might as well go all out."
Asger snorted.
"I like the way you think."
With his base secured and his supplies hidden, Liam settled in for the night. He knew the real chaos would begin soon enough.
Liam settled into his newly secured base, knowing he had four days to survive in the dungeon. He had already found a decent hiding spot, reinforced it with magic, and gathered supplies. Now, all he needed to do was wait and ensure that no one came too close.
He sat down on a rock near the cave entrance, idly playing with a small spark of magic between his fingers.
The dungeon air was cool, and the distant howls of creatures echoed through the cave tunnels. He wasn’t worried about the monsters—if anything, they were the least of his concerns.
As he was getting comfortable, Liam felt a subtle disturbance in the magical field around his barrier. His sharp eyes flicked toward the entrance.
A group of students had wandered near his cave. They were cautiously approaching the invisible wall of magic he had erected.
Liam tensed, readying himself for potential conflict. He doubted that they could break through, but the fact that they had even found this place was troublesome.
One of the students, a tall boy with a nervous expression, hesitantly reached out to touch the barrier. As soon as his fingers brushed against it, a faint ripple spread across the magical wall.
"What the hell?"
The boy muttered, pulling his hand back quickly.
"Is this some kind of restricted area?"
Another student asked.
"It has to be. No way a student set this up. Maybe it’s an automatic safety zone or something."
A third one said, backing away.
Liam remained still, watching silently from the shadows. He didn’t want to draw attention to himself unless absolutely necessary.
After a moment of deliberation, the group decided to leave.
"Let’s go. If we waste time here, we’ll lose our chance to gather supplies."
