Chapter 145: 145: The excitement- Part 3

Come on, Bianca! Why are you pretending not to care? It’s not like you have to worry about getting scouted. You’ve already got a guaranteed spot in your mother’s guild!"

One of them called out.

The murmurs of agreement rippled through the crowd. Several students nodded, their gazes turning toward Bianca with varying degrees of annoyance and resentment.

Bianca stiffened at the accusation, her eyes narrowing.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard us. You’re acting all high and mighty, but it’s easy for you to lecture us when you don’t even have to worry about your future."

another student muttered.

Liam, still sitting on the curb, raised an eyebrow.

’Now this is getting interesting.’

Bianca looked genuinely offended, her arms crossing tightly over her chest.

"You think I don’t have to work for my opportunities? That everything is just handed to me because of who my mother is?"

The students didn’t say anything, but their silence spoke volumes.

Bianca scoffed, her expression turning cold.

"You all are so pathetic. Instead of working hard and preparing for the tournament, you’re wasting time gossiping and making excuses. My mother’s guild didn’t guarantee me anything—I earned my place. Unlike you lot, I don’t sit around whining about how unfair life is."

That stung. The students’ expressions darkened, but none of them dared to argue further. Bianca was a strong fighter, and even though they were angry, they weren’t foolish enough to pick a fight with her.

Liam found the whole situation amusing.

He had to give Bianca credit—she didn’t hold back.

But at the same time, he had no interest in sticking around for any more drama. With a sigh, he got up, dusted off his clothes, and started making his way to class.

There was no point wasting his time on others when he had better things to do.

As he walked past Bianca, she briefly glanced at him but didn’t say anything. He nodded slightly in acknowledgment before continuing on his way.

By the time Liam reached the classroom, most of the students were already there.

The buzz from the courtyard had carried over into the classroom, with groups of students still talking about the tournament and their chances of getting recruited.

Liam ignored them and went straight to his seat, plopping down with a sigh. He rested his chin on his hand and stared out the window, letting the chatter fade into background noise.

Just as he was beginning to space out, Bianca entered the classroom. She looked just as irritated as before, but she didn’t say anything as she made her way to her seat.

A few students still seemed wary of her after their earlier exchange, choosing to keep their distance.

Liam smirked to himself.

’Guess she really got under their skin.’

Not long after, the teacher arrived, calling for silence. The students reluctantly ended their conversations and sat up straight.

"Alright, class. I know you’re all excited about the upcoming tournament, but for now, let’s focus on today’s lesson,"

the teacher said, his voice carrying the tone of someone who had already dealt with too many overenthusiastic students today.

Liam mentally tuned out the moment the lesson started. He already knew most of this stuff, and he wasn’t particularly interested in reviewing basic magical theory. Instead, his thoughts drifted back to the tournament.

He hadn’t really cared about it before, but now he was starting to wonder... should he participate?

He didn’t care about joining a guild, but the idea of going up against strong opponents did sound appealing. It had been a while since he had a proper challenge.

He tapped his fingers against the desk, deep in thought.

Across the room, Bianca seemed to notice his distracted expression. She raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

The endless chatter of the students followed Liam all the way back to the classroom, and judging by the constant buzz in the air, it didn’t seem like anything productive was going to happen today.

Everyone was too focused on the upcoming tournament, discussing strategies, guilds, and potential opponents.

Liam, already tired of the excitement, sighed and leaned back in his seat. He knew that people took things like this seriously, but this was just ridiculous.

At this rate, no one was even going to pay attention to the lesson.

And, as expected, the teacher was growing just as frustrated.

SLAM!

A loud sound echoed through the classroom as the unnamed teacher slammed his hand on the board. The students immediately jolted in their seats, startled by the sudden noise.

"That’s enough! If you all can’t calm down and focus, then none of you will be allowed to participate in the tournament!"

The teacher barked, his patience clearly at its limit.

A wave of groans and protests filled the air.

"That’s unfair!"

"You can’t do that!"

"Come on, we were just talking—"

The teacher narrowed his eyes, daring them to argue further.

"Oh? You think it’s unfair? Then how about this—I’ll personally make sure that every single one of you who refuses to focus fails the next exam. Let’s see how unfair that feels."

Silence.

That shut them up fast.

No one wanted to take that risk, and as much as they wanted to complain, they knew better than to push their luck.

Slowly, the students settled down, reluctantly turning their attention back to the front of the classroom.

Liam smirked to himself.

’Finally, some peace and quiet.’

The silence that followed the teacher’s threat was almost comical.

A few students exchanged uneasy glances, but no one dared to challenge the teacher’s authority.

Liam leaned on his desk, resting his chin on his palm.

He wasn’t particularly interested in the tournament, but he had to admit—seeing everyone panic over the possibility of being barred from it was entertaining.

The teacher cleared his throat, satisfied with the newfound quiet.

"Good. Now, let’s get back to the lesson. You’ll have plenty of time to obsess over the tournament later."

With that, the class finally resumed, though a lingering tension still hung in the air.
