Chapter 521: Chapter 517: Target: Northland 19 Countries Chapter 521: Chapter 517: Target: Northland 19 Countries “Have you really not considered hoisting the flag of being Titan’s lover? Once you do, you could do as you please in Depluson Subcontinent,” asked the Crystal Dragon, a legendary figure who was over four hundred years old yet still a distance away from becoming an Ancient Dragon, with a hint of regret. “I would never have the chance or I would have been proclaiming it everywhere. Young dragons really tend to act on impulse and don’t know how to cherish opportunities.”
“Mother, why did you adopt me as your daughter? Was it because you knew my identity all along?” Clodia, her dragon’s eye emanating a faint golden light, gazed at Philomena seriously. This was a question she had long wanted to ask.
Given the vast glacial landscape, what were the odds that she would run into a legendary Crystal Dragon not long after she was banished here, who would then forcefully adopt her as her daughter… Did the Crystal Dragon view her as a disgrace to the dragon race, born and raised in the great glaciers?
“Clever child, you must have wanted to ask this question for a long time. It must have been painful holding it in,” replied Philomena the Crystal Dragon in a carefree manner. “Only after reaching the legendary tier did you dare to ask. Before this, you didn’t ask because you were afraid of falling out with me. Now you have the audacity!”
“Not at all, I just want an answer. Was it a simple coincidence that you bumped into me? Or was there any external influence or arrangement?”
“Indeed, you’re my smart daughter,” Philomena the Crystal Dragon laughed in response to Clodia’s pointed questions. “There aren’t so many coincidences in the world. Our meeting was arranged by a rather unreasonable fellow.”
“The legendary Golden Dragon, the Golden Blazing Sun, Atris!” Clodia, her look being downcast, referred to the dragon whose reputation preceded him, the one responsible for her exile to this continent.
“Exactly, her,” Philomena extended her claw, scratching her abdomen, “She once gave me a set of coordinates, telling me that the world’s brightest White Dragon would appear there. If I admired her, then I should adopt and protect her… and you know what happened next, without the need for me to elaborate any further.”
“You found me just when I arrived here?”
“Exactly, when Atris threw you to the Depluson Subcontinent, I was already there. I saw everything, including the struggles you and your six companions had to survive on the glacier. Observing your impressive feats, I found Atris’ praises to be completely warranted. As a result, I desired to adopt you.”
“…” Clodia gripped her claws tightly upon hearing Philomena’s words. A feeling of resentment welled up within her. “Was everything that I experienced upon arriving here all part of an arrangement? Were all my actions since birth part of a grand plan devised by the illustrious Golden Dragon? Is my entire life prewritten in some script?”
“Let’s not exaggerate. Atris only outlined your general course of development. The particulars are still up to you to fill in. We merely guide you but are not your puppet masters. To think of me and her like that is offensive! Were it not for your exceptional performance, do you think you would have been treated so well? All you’ve attained so far is through your own abilities rather than our arrangements.
When you first arrived in Depluson Subcontinent, if not for your spellcasting abilities and your impressive aptitude in dealing with crises, which took me by surprise, I wouldn’t have bothered meeting you. At most, on account of Atris, I would have secretly saved your life.”
“In that case, the divinity I obtained within the Semi Plane formed in the wake of a Divine Kingdom’s shattering twenty-four years ago, was that also part of your arrangements?” Clodia’s emotions seemed to stabilize slightly after hearing her mother’s words.
“That was Atris’ arrangement. It has nothing to do with me. I’m not capable of giving away divinity to a dragon,” the Crystal Dragon, Philomena spread her claws wide, “That’s why I keep saying that you should formally declare yourself as the lover of Titan. After all, she values you greatly. Even if people found out, they probably wouldn’t say anything.”
“Why did my Bloodline suddenly strengthen at the same time? Besides me, they also…”
“I heard it’s an arrangement by the Five Colored Dragons for the Titan Tribe. The Bloodlines of all Five Colored Dragons adopted by Muria are purified. You are merely one of the hundred or so beneficiary dragons. Undeniably, this round of bloodline purification has made your ascension to legendary status easier.”
“All my opportunities, all my knowledge, are bestowed by others? I really am… ha.” Clodia gave a self-deprecating laugh. She now realized how ridiculous her previous desire to separate from Muria and be independent was. She had been manipulated by others from start to finish.
“Don’t negate your hard work. To my knowledge, out of a hundred and one dragons, you’re the only one with such privileges,” Philomena opened her mouth to let out a deep yawn and adopted a slightly sluggish posture, “Stop overthinking, ease up, it’s easy to get lost in negative thoughts. I’m off first. Be sure to think things through when expanding your forces. Human politics are intricately connected, sometimes a pull on one thread influences the whole. If you’re reluctant to use Titan’s might then find out as much as you can about it.”
After speaking, without any movement from the graceful Crystal Dragon, a wide Spatial Tunnel formed and Philomena casually sauntered into it, her tail swaying behind her.
“Oh, by the way, there’s something you should know,” Philomena stopped with half of her body already inside the Spatial Tunnel, turned her head back to Clodia, “Your identity as my daughter was witnessed by the great Dragon God Aeo, so no matter what happens or how you change, you’ll always be my daughter.”
After speaking, the Crystal Dragon stepped even more lightly into the Spatial Tunnel, vanishing from Clodia’s sight.
“I understand, mother,” Clodia softly replied after a while from her seated position upon the Ice Throne.
The conversation between the two legendary figures unveiled many secrets, causing the White Dragons beneath the Ice Throne to tremble and feel on pins and needles, wishing they could block their own hearing. As Clodia fell silent for a while, seeming as if she was lost in thought, the White Dragons beneath looked at each other in confusion. They dared not say a word, nor ask any questions.
“What are you still doing here?” The Frost Queen, lost in thought, finally regained her senses. Seeing the group of White Dragons beneath her that resembled statues and seemed to be in a daze like her, she couldn’t help but laugh, “Why haven’t you gone to initiate the call to arms for the war, to prepare for the assault on the Human Kingdom?”
“Lady Clodia, which kingdom should we attack?” asked an old dragon. It was a matter of course for a legendary dragon to take down a Human Kingdom. It was basically a sure win.
“The Nineteen Northern Kingdoms, all of them! I want to conquer every single one!”
“Lady Clodia, that’s impossible! There are at least thirty legendary dragons amongst the Nineteen Northern Kingdoms. We… ”
“This is my final goal, when did I say that I wanted to conquer them all in one go?”
“This attack is the first phase, choose the weakest kingdom and conquer it as swiftly as possible, leaving them no time to react.”
“However, those human rulers will certainly unite against us, the Deep Cold Ice Palace, and retaliate.”
“You shouldn’t be concerned about that, I have my own ways.”
