Chapter 463 - 463 459 Intimidation and Show-off
Chapter 463: 459 Intimidation and Show-off Chapter 463: 459 Intimidation and Show-off Under the clear sky with fluffy white clouds, strands of radiant sunlight pour down like golden threads, settling on the skin and making one feel all the more comfortable, improving one’s mood a great deal.
After the magical disaster, the survivors lived on, carrying memories of their deceased loved ones. Looking down from a high vantage point, you could see that hardworking farmers on the plains had begun their daily high-intensity labor.
“What’s that?” A farmer, who was weeding and catching bugs, propped himself up on his farming tool. After wiping the sweat, that had been brought on by toil, off his body with a rag reeking of sweat, he prepared to take a drink from his water bottle. Just as he was about to drink, he was stunned by an odd sight in the sky above him. His grip on the water bottle went slack as he stiffened in shock, causing the bottle to drop to the ground.
In the distant sky, an astonishing scene unfurled that the farmer had never seen before in his life: several majestic floating islands were suspended in the sky, slowly moving in his direction. The islands blocked out a significant portion of the sunlight, casting large shadows on the ground below and plunging the land into a dusk-like darkness.
“By the Light of Dawn, is this a miracle you’re unveiling?” The gasp of the farmer caused his companions, who were also toiling away in the vast wheat field, to lift their heads up from their work and take in the sight of Cloud Island shattering the vast white clouds as it flew towards them.
This incredible and majestic sight, only typically seen in the tales sung by minstrels, filled these farmers, who had survived the magic disaster and witnessed brutal demons from the abyss, with terror.
“Thud!” Some of the farmers, overwhelmed by the sight of hundreds of islands moving simultaneously, found their limbs weaken. Unable to resist, they either knelt down or collapsed onto the ground, with hardly anyone able to maintain a normal stance.
“How pathetic these humans are, they can’t even stand up in shock.” Seeing the reaction of the humans below, Fiona, the ancient green dragon released by Mureya from the semi-plane, revealed a proud and arrogant expression.
“It doesn’t look like you have any reason to mock them. You didn’t seem much better when you first saw Cloud Island!” Mia, seeing Fiona in her noblewoman guise, quickly seized the opportunity to take a jab at this green dragon, who gave her a strong sense of threat.
The first time Mia saw Fiona, she knew that she’d be her future competitor, as Fiona not only matched her in appearance and figure but also excelled in her capabilities.
Mia heard that Fiona, without the assistance of Prince Mureya, had managed to suppress six hundred thousand Zor Elves with a group of little dragons, ruthlessly quelling thirteen violent uprisings.
“Isn’t it natural to be shocked by such a world wonder?” Fiona did not seem to be bothered by the hostile female dragonkin servant. Instead, she put on a friendly and cordial smile.
Fiona was very clear about her place. She was just an old dragon who had tentatively pledged allegiance to Mureya. Other than her strength and centuries of experience, she seemingly had nothing else that would interest the heir to the Dragon King.
Mia, on the other hand, according to the information she gathered from the pesky Mage Five-colored Dragons, was the personal maid who had grown up alongside Prince Mureya, who even occasionally shared his bed. Fiona couldn’t possibly compete with Mia for the place she held in Mureya’s heart.
“Humph!” Hearing Fiona back down, Mia’s expression softened. She knew her behavior towards this green dragon was somewhat excessive and inappropriate, but she couldn’t control the panic she felt. Fiona was undoubtedly capable of replacing her.
“Ah, Miss Mia, the people of the next city will be able to see us shortly. I should prepare the dragons for their tour.” Fiona showed a smile on her face, looking at the not-so-friendly maid, before changing back into her dragon form and flying towards another cloud island. This was the island Mureya had set aside for the Five-Colored Dragons…
“This is slower than I expected!” On the Cloud island where Wind King Hawk resided, Mureya, who was living together with Zuche, couldn’t help but sigh softly when he saw the various light curtains projected by the magic array in front of him.
The light curtains displayed views of all 132 cloud islands up above and the areas they were flying over, as well as the performance data of the magic arrays on all the islands, including their movement speed.
It was a speed that gave Mureya a headache; compared with a fully equipped floating city, it was as slow as a turtle crawl, only one-fifth of the speed of a floating city.
His requirement had indeed been met — they could move. The slow speed of the Cloud Islands was unavoidable, after all, real floating cities had defensive arrays that could keep them intact even at high speed.
Mureya’s floating islands, other than the magic array allowing them to move, hardly had anything else. The only thing he could boast of was the size and number of the islands.
“It’s going to take another two months before we can leave the Lockman Kingdom.” Mureya exclaimed. “The Wind King Hawk initially took only seven days to move the Cloud Island from the sea to Scarlet.”
“Isn’t it just because you’re idle? You insisted on taking a full circle around the Lockman Kingdom before leaving. If you went straight to the sea from the Royal Capital, it wouldn’t have taken this long,” sneered Troy, the large white cat lazing nearby.
“Departing straight from there won’t work.” Mureya leaned on Troy, stroking its smooth and supple fur. “Without letting those ambitious nobles see my Cloud Islands for themselves, and without them showing stunned and respectful faces, all this seems meaningless.”
“You just wanted to show off, didn’t you!” Troy, who usually slept soundly in the semi-plane, immediately saw through Mureya’s real aim, “And according to you, these Cloud Islands are the Wind King Hawk’s, not yours. You only have the right to reside on them.”
“Well, there’s not much difference,” Mureya coughed lightly, his face turning slightly red, but he quickly regained his composure. “Also, showing off or not, that’s secondary. The primary goal is to intimidate them, and at the same time, give them fake information that I am indeed leaving, which might provoke them to reveal their true faces that have been suppressed by me for twelve years. Don’t forget, the predecessor king of this kingdom, Belradin, passed away under suspicious circumstances.”
“So, you did intend to show off. You’re shallow.” Troy, who was quite content being petted by Mureya, let out a few gentle hums.
“Showing off is a perfectly normal behavior for intelligent creatures.” Mureya nonchalantly responded. In his previous life, the King of Chu was an extraordinary figure, yet he still uttered a famous quote, “Riches and honor acquired inalienably in the city are like a night scene in brocade attire; unseen and unappreciated.”
