Chapter 415 - 415 410 Theory of World Consumption

Chapter 415: Chapter 410: Theory of World Consumption Chapter 415: Chapter 410: Theory of World Consumption The young demon hunters, who had arrived via the Demon Hunter Monument Teleportation Array, bore visible signs of fatigue on their faces. The teenage boys dressed in armor were tainted by warm blood, and the young girl wielding a magic staff drank a potion that could quickly restore mental power, all while rubbing her tired brow…

This was a demon hunting squad that had already undergone several challenging battles. Under an unlimited supply of potions, their combat qi and mental power were always at their peak. However, the prolonged battles had allowed their willpower to undergo intense training.

“You are the demon hunters here to back us up?” The knight, responsible for city defense, looked at the group of demon hunters who were younger than his own son with astonishment. The real-life demon hunters differed somewhat from what he had seen through the spell screen.

“Mmm.” The sword-wielding young man leading the group gave the stunned knight a glance before ignoring him. He began to carefully observe the surroundings, then held a brief pre-battle discussion with his allies.

Finally, the sword-bearing boy and his fellow close-combat partners leapt off the city wall, charging directly at the demons attacking the Spiritual Light Shield. As they charged, one after another buff magic landed on them, the dazzling buff spirit light making them appear even more chivalrous.

“Wait a…” The city’s knight, who witnessed the six young demon hunters already battling three gold-level demons, cut off his own words, clearly annoyed. “Why would you be so impulsive? Are demons that easy to deal with?”

After his moment of dismay, the knight removed his cloak, drew out his long sword, and prepared to leap off the city wall to assist these “reckless” youngsters.

“Hey, old man, what are you trying to do?”

“I’m going down to help them.” The now proclaimed ‘old man’ knight, standing on the crenels of the city wall, turned his head and responded in a matter-of-fact tone.

“You should rest. We’ll be fine soon, and we don’t need you getting in the way down there.”

“I’ll get in the way?” The knight gazed at the female mage who had called him an ‘old man’ in a stupefied manner. “I am a gold second-tier knight! I come from poverty and killed my way to where I am. I didn’t reach gold rank by depending on deity blessings and potions like those worthless nobles.”

“Old man, come down. We truly mean no offense. It’s just that those guys have often fought together and have developed a tacit understanding. Your help will upset their rhythm and lower their combat effectiveness.”

“Tactical synergy?” The experienced knight looked at the six demon-hunting young men, who were seamless in their coordination and even occasionally created openings for their mage companions on the city wall. Hearing this, the knight was astonished and quietly left the wall.

“The youth of today are indeed powerful.” The middle-aged knight sighed quietly, at the same time deciding that if he ever received an invite to join the Demon Hunting Team, he would refuse.

With his current strength, wouldn’t joining the Demon Hunting Team be uncomfortable for him? Every one of the youths popping out were not just younger than him, but also more capable fighters. How could he face such humiliation?

Just as the middle-aged knight was lost in his thoughts, the sword-wielding youth who was leading the team decapitated a gold-level demon in one swing, then cleaved it cleanly in two. Such injuries were far beyond the recovery capabilities of a gold-level demon.

Soon, after the first gold-level demon fell, the remaining two demons were surrounded and killed one after another by the brave young men. The demon group that had followed the three major demons were soon slaughtered to extinction by the six young demon hunters, leveraging their superior strength.

“The United War Department assigned us another task, let’s go.” The young men who had just killed the demons, hardly having enough time to wipe the blood off their bodies, received another demon hunting mission dispatched from the United War Department.

“Bastards! Do they treat us like beasts of burden? Even animals get some rest, yet we have been fighting continuously for almost a day.”

“Stop complaining. The United War Department won’t let us rest until we reach our limit.”

“Let’s rest for a while before we set off again, I’m really tired.”

“We can’t rest. If we’re even a breath late, an innocent child could be brutally killed by the demons.”

“Then what are we waiting for? What’s the destination’s coordinates, let’s get going and not waste time.”

Looking at the demon hunting team that quickly departed through the Demon Hunting Monument Teleportation Array, and the dead demons scattered all around the city outskirts, the middle-aged knight was left with a complex mix of emotions, a sense of shame rising in his heart.

Subsequently, the knight with mixed emotions approached the Demon Hunting Monument, seeking the recorded images of the demon hunting team that just saved the city. As of now, he didn’t even know the names of these teenagers.

“Their ranking is so low?” The knight looked at the images of these teenagers that were ranked in the middle-upper sections of the Demon Hunting Monument in disbelief. Their ranking was considerably lower than what he had imagined, initially assuming that this team would be ranked among the top.

“Have the prodigies of our kingdom become this strong now?” The knight shook his head in bitter laughter, “I really am an old man who can’t keep up with the times. However, just because I’m not joining the Demon Hunting Team doesn’t mean I can’t fight against the demons. I won’t be content just being protected by a group of children.”

And so, the Lockman Kingdom lost a temple knight, but gained a wandering knight who devoted himself to combating demons and protecting citizens.

“What the hell is happening? Why has the contact between the Nocchio Subcontinent and the Abyss suddenly strengthened to this extent, allowing easy piercing of the space?”

Muria frowned at the desolated wasteland in front of him. He had whimsically tried a little; it was baffling how easily he pierced the space and ended up in this layer of the Abyss.

Not having even reached the threshold of legend status, his power and a bit of space insight, allowed him to so effortlessly arrive at the Abyss. It was not much harder than piercing a sheet of paper.

“Prince Mureya, I once read a fascinating book called ‘Theory of World Devouring’. According to the hypothesis in the book, our world is devouring the Abyss to strengthen itself.”

“Devouring the Abyss?” Muria’s face registered surprise as he looked back at the Ancient Golden Dragon Basde who had followed him. Such a hypothesis was fanciful, treating the world as a sentient living entity.

“Only such an interpretation can explain why we are here so easily now? According to the norms, even a legendary being would have to expend considerable effort to teleport from Erathia to the Abyss, not like now where it is as if a child’s play.”

“If Erathia is viewed as a living being, then the Abyss where we are now, can be considered as the prey devoured by Erathia. To some extent, we are still within Erathia. Can it be understood this way?”
