Chapter 359 - 359 354 The King Destined to Die
Chapter 359: Chapter 354: The King Destined to Die Chapter 359: Chapter 354: The King Destined to Die “Shadowless Slayer, Woban.”
“Steel Bulwark, Gerbson.”
“Mountain Breaker, Luke.”
“Molten Sword, Rafa.”
“Forest Maker, Grut.”
King Belradin introduced each of these five loyal legends to Muria, briefly explaining their strength and titles, a brief acquaintance that now existed between them.
Muria smiled and nodded at the five legends. He discovered that all five were close combat warriors, but none were magicians. Their names and titles suggested that they may all come from ordinary backgrounds.
“Dukes, please retire now, I need to explain some matters to Regent Duke.” Belradin’s attitude was clearly different towards these five legendary dukes.
“By your command, your Majesty.” After nodding to Belradin, each of these five dukes took a long look at Muria, then left this miniature Semi Plane.
Unless something unexpected happens, these five legends will be following the orders of the amazing dragon race’s Muria for some time.
“Duke Mureya, let me introduce you to the situation in the Lockman Kingdom, the country you are about to rule.” The King spoke again, once it was only himself and his daughter left in the Semi Plane.
“Mmm, go ahead.” Muria, despite feeling somewhat awkward being addressed as ‘Duke’, readied himself to listen.
“Cough, Cough!” Just as he was about to speak, Belradin lifted his hand to his mouth in a hurry and started to cough violently. The disgusting, bloody smell overflowed from between his fingers.
“Father!” Seeing her father coughing up blood, Remilia, feeling a bit more daring now that Muria was present, clung to her father’s sleeve in worry.
“What’s happened?” Spotting the visibly black air as he coughed up blood, and sensing the feeble lifeforce, Muria wore a querying expression.
“Just a curse, it’s not a big deal.” Seeing worry on his daughter’s face and the question in Muria’s gaze, Belradin seemed at peace, completely unconcerned.
“A curse?” Muria raised his eyebrows slightly then, under Belradin’s confused and guarded gaze, pulled out a half-human-height metal book.
“Sir Mureya, what are you trying to do?” The King instinctively pulled his daughter behind him at the sight of the book, acting on a father’s instinct.
“Don’t worry, I’m just seeing if I can heal you.” Holding the Book of Mourning in one hand and using the other to tap it, Muria simultaneously smiled at the tiny princess hiding behind the King, who looked slightly timid.
“Healing me?” Belradin questions, glancing at the book in Muria’s hands, his amazement growing as plumes of black smoke rose from the metallic book, forming the figure of a well-known demon in Elasia.
“Abyssal Demon?” Upon seeing the form of the Book of Mourning’s curse spirit, Belradin drew his daughter back quietly. The book that the Dragon King’s descendant had taken out was simply too malevolent. It even caused him to doubt Muria’s identity. How could such a noble Golden Dragon carry this kind of evil book?
“Like I said, there’s no need to be nervous.” Muria rubbed his brow helplessly. The world always judges by appearances with most intelligent creatures holding the habit of determining good from evil based on appearance.
Forms like that of the Book of Mourning’s curse spirit are usually considered evil without a second thought. Granted, judging good and evil from appearances is often correct.
Existences like the curse spirit would become unbearably fierce and make endless troubles without the ability to resist curses, like Muria’s.
“Black, swallow the curse on him.” Muria called the incredibly unimpressive name he had given to his curse spirit, giving his command. This was one of the main abilities of the Book of Mourning.
It not only has the ability to curse other creatures, but also the ability to lift curses. It can lift any curse that is recorded in the Book of Mourning.
“I am pleased to serve you, my master.” Hearing this terribly bland name, the curse spirit named Black showed no displeasure at all. Over two years time it had been well trained by Muria. After all, being used as a grinding stone every few days will make you conform no matter who you are.
Under the surprised gaze of Belradin and the curious gaze of Remilia, the formidable-looking curse spirit faced the King. It opened its mouth and began to inhale, drawing in strands of intensified black qi, appearing like many black snakes, from Belradin’s body and into the curse spirit’s mouth. The curse spirit’s form gradually grew larger.
“Father, you’re okay now, your illness is gone!” Seeing that with the motion of the curse spirit, her father’s complexion visibly improved, Remilia’s curiosity gradually turned into surprise.
“Heh, it’s too late.” Hearing his daughter’s joyous tone and feeling his recovering vitality, Belradin forced a bitter smile.
“Hehehe, little girl, you’re celebrating too soon.” Hearing Remilia’s cheer, the curse spirit, who was born from countless curses and developed a spiritual intelligence, didn’t hesitate in its response.
“If it were ten years ago, had I been here to lift the curse, your father would be fine. Even five years ago, your father could have recuperated and lived for another hundred years with some rest.
But now, even if I lift his curse, it’s questionable if he can survive another few days. I can only offer some comfort in his final moments.”
“How could this happen?” Hearing the words of the curse spirit, Remilia couldn’t believe it and turned to see her father whose complexion had already improved, hoping for his denial.
“You need to be strong, Remilia.” His scrawny muscles slowly bulging, the King, whose body had been torn apart and was quickly healing, bent down to pick up his crying daughter and gently comforted her.
“What’s the matter?” Muria, seeing the King with no remaining dignity, questioned curse spirit with a furrowed brow.
“You should have felt it, his soul has been shattered by the curse. It’s lucky that it has not collapsed yet. I can remove the curse but healing this kind of soul injury is beyond my ability.”
“Understood.” Muria nodded, then put away the now useless Book of Mourning. He looked towards the King, who was comforting his timid, short blue-haired princess daughter.
“Wait a moment, let me put her to sleep before I speak with you.” With a hint of guilt in his tone, Belradin communicated with Muria in plain words.
