Chapter 356 - 356 351 Grandfathers Debt Grandson Repays
Chapter 356: Chapter 351: Grandfather’s Debt, Grandson Repays Chapter 356: Chapter 351: Grandfather’s Debt, Grandson Repays Upon hearing the words of King Belradin, the nobles and ministers present in the hall instantly stirred. The King’s intentions were now unmistakably clear.
He was soon to die, and his chosen successor – the queen – was much too young. He had decided to select a replacement to rule over the kingdom of Lockman until Queen Remilia came of age, whereupon he would pass on his power to her.
Greedy gazes were cast on the dying man on the throne, even as devious desires began to form in the minds of some as they turned their gaze upon the timid Princess Remilia standing by the throne.
“Hmm!” Mocking laughter escaped Belradin’s lips as he observed the reactions of the nobles and ministers below. Behind him, five figures of authority approached, each radiating a dominating aura. These were the Legends, loyal exclusively to the monarchy.
Upon sighting these five revered figures and their daunting aura, the fantasies of the power-obsessed noblemen and ministers were quickly extinguished; it felt as though a bucket of ice-cold water was dumped over their heads.
Some nobles trembled at the sight of the five Legends, speculating whether they were there to purge them, clearing all obstacles for the new sovereign. After all, a dying king could be expected to make unpredictable decisions.
Others were less concerned about their safety and more about Belradin’s plans. They worried whether Belradin planned to pick the regent from among these five legends, thereby handing them absolute control over the kingdom of Lockman. If such were the case, they could never have any say in comparison to these legendary figures.
“Don’t speculate.” Noticing the changing expressions on the faces of the nobles and ministers below, Belradin sneered, “I’m not planning to kill you. I invited these five Legends here to serve as witnesses. Witnesses to the appearance of the Regent of the Kingdom of Lockman for at least the upcoming ten years.”
“However, don’t get your hopes up.” Seeing the eager and hopeful expressions on some faces, the king poured cold water on their aspirations without hesitation. “None of you are eligible to become the Regent of the Kingdom of Lockman. I called you here so that you could witness this and know who should be obeyed in the upcoming times.”
“So, Your Majesty, where is the Regent we are supposed to meet?” A minister, concealing his disappointment, asked, feigning calmness.
“Yes, Your Majesty, perhaps it’s time to introduce us to the Regent,” joined in a nobleman.
“He is not here.” Upon hearing the requests of the nobleman, Belradin stood up, slightly leaned to the side, and despite his feeble condition, cast a gentle smile upon his daughter.
“Not here?” Belradin’s response left the ministers and nobles in a state of confusion and difficulty. They couldn’t understand his intentions. The king had called them all along with the Legends, but now he was telling them that the intended Regent hadn’t arrived yet. They were left wondering about the status of such a person.
“Have patience. I will bring forth the future regent of the Kingdom of Lockman right now.” Belradin extended his hand and held onto his slightly alarmed daughter, Remilia.
Without any perceptible actions, a small black dot appeared within five steps from the throne. It then quickly expanded within a few moments, transforming into an elliptical space gate taller than a person.
“This is the entrance to the Semi Plane.” The appearance of the space gate left the noblemen and ministers in the hall surprised. They had no idea that such a thing was concealed within the hall which symbolized the center of power in the kingdom.
“This must be the foundation of the Scarlet Family’s legacy. Let’s see if the heritage left by your ancestors can save the day. If not, it’s about time to change the ruler of the kingdom.”
As the space gate appeared, several ancient and big noble families instantly understood its significance. Their own clans possessed similar entities.
“Come in, all of you.” As soon as the space gate stabilized, Belradin, taking his younger daughter’s hand, calmly walked into it. The five legends followed, entering one after the other without any hesitation.
The noblemen and ministers in the hall exchanged looks. Unknown who took the lead, they all one by one followed them into the portal out of sheer curiosity about the future Regent.
“What is this?” As the nobles and ministers entered the Semi Plane, whose entrance was located in the kingdom’s power center, they were immediately blinded by the scene before them.
This Semi Plane, established as the foundation of the Scarlett Family’s legacy, was indeed small, probably the smallest among all such planes. Even so, it surprised many nobles.
This was because this Semi Plane, not much bigger than the Royal Palace, was filled with Elemental Crystals everywhere. Even the ground beneath their feet seemed to be made from countless crystals.
What attracted even more attention was the tower-like altar in the center of the Semi Plane. The altar, coded with complex array patterns, was built entirely from crystals.
At this moment, Belradin stood beneath the altar with a smile on his face, visibly relieved having successfully activated it.
“Remilia, I will not let anyone hurt you.” With the legends behind him and surrounded by many nobles and ministers, Belradin pulled out a golden glowing scale. He then used his fighting Qi to send it as a medium to the center of the altar, with the intent to summon a towering existence.
…
In the empty, desolate darkness of the void, a dragon exuding radiant golden light akin to the sun slowly opened his eyes with an air of helplessness,
“Someone from the world of Erathia is summoning me. Ah, it must be someone from old times in trouble, seeking protection. But I can’t go back now. This is the favor that I owe and the promise that I made; I cannot neglect it.”
“Fortunately, I have an exemplary daughter who can replace me. Let her answer the call. Let her pay the debt of favor that I owe!”
“Not going, not doing it, find your own way.” When the Dragon King Dimos found Golden Dragon Mother Atris after consuming a significant amount of power through bloodline connections, Atris immediately refused.
“Are you trying to make me break my promise?”
“You can find your grandson Muria who is already quite competent now. You have given him a drop of Original Blood; let him help pay off your dept.”
