Chapter 345 - 345 340 Book of Mourning
Chapter 345: Chapter 340 Book of Mourning Chapter 345: Chapter 340 Book of Mourning Muria really hadn’t expected that beings like the goblin before him weren’t unique, that there were more of them. This was quite shocking as he had not seen any hints of Planar Merchants in any of his books.
“Correct.” The green-skinned goblin nodded in agreement on hearing Muria’s summary.
“Are all Planar Merchants goblins?”
“We goblins are only a small part of them. The Planar Merchants comprise of many races, even including your kin.”
“My kin?” Muria was slightly taken aback at first but soon recovered, understanding that the goblin meant that there were dragons who had become Planar Merchants.
“How does one become a Planar Merchant?” Muria asked curiously. He was very interested in the abilities possessed by goblins.
“Don’t even think about it, you have no aptitude for this. Since you have already become one favoured by destiny, you are destined to become a highly regarded being. How can you possibly become a Planar Merchant like us, invisible and unnoticed by anyone?”
“Can I learn the ability you Planar Merchants have to be overlooked by others?” Muria asked persistently.
“No, Dragon Race, do not be too greedy. It’s not possible for all good things to come your way.” The green-skinned goblin glared, firmly rejecting him.
“Not even a slight chance?”
“There is,” After a moment’s consideration, sensing a business opportunity, the goblin replied, “You cannot directly gain the exclusive abilities of us Planar Merchants, but you can achieve similar effects by using a magical artifact. Of course, it won’t be exactly the same as ours.”
“What kind of magical artifact? Let me see it.”
“Uh, that particular artifact, the Cloak of the Invisible, I only had one and I sold it recently, so,” the green-skinned goblin spread his hand apologetically towards Muria, “I’m currently out of stock.”
“And you have the audacity to claim you can sell anything, that you have everything in stock?” Muria mocked without mercy.
“Next time, when I stock up, I will come to find you,” the Goblin Merchant chuckled in response to Muria’s taunt, bowing slightly. Customers were Deities. Those who sought to buy goods from him were the deities he should worship. So, no matter what was said to him, he would not become angry.
“How am I supposed to find you? Is there any way to contact you?”
“There is no need to find me, and there is no way to contact me. When you need something, I, or any other merchant, will naturally appear before you.”
“Is that so?” Muria squinted.
“Alright, I’ve answered all your questions, and those two rings, as payment, now belong to me.”
The green-skinned goblin bowed slightly towards Muria, “Honored customer, is there anything else you require?”
“Let me think,” Muria rubbed his brows; he indeed wanted a specific kind of magical item.
“Could you hurry up, please? Honored customer, time is money.”
“Do you have a magical artifact here that can determine the safety of someone through their lost scales, hairs or similar items?” Muria asked without much hope.
Because the goblin’s reliability was questionable. Apart from the selection at his stall, nothing else was most likely available.
“I do.” On hearing Muria’s description, the green-skinned goblin’s face lit up with joy. His already distorted face, due to the perptual grin, turned even more grotesque.
“Honored customer, allow me to recommend a treasure to you, the Book of Mourning.”
As it spoke, the small goblin managed to produce a sack, seemingly sewn from rags, from nowhere. He rummaged through it and pulled out a large metal book with a black cover, offering it to Muria like a precious treasure.
“Please have a look, does this meet your requirements?”
“This is a Curse Book,” Muria grimaced, accepting the huge metallic book, half the size of a human. Visible black smoke swirled around it, the physical manifestation of various negative emotions. Even normal humans could see that this was nothing good.
“Indeed, honored customer, this Curse Book was the work of a legendary mage who had dedicated his life to studying curses and dark magic. It can curse a Legend as long as it has sufficient physical tissue.”
“What I need is an item that can determine the safety of my lost kin, not a book for slaughter.”
“It also meets your requirements, customer, and even has more uses.”
Lifting the Curse Book, which had taken countless lives, with the simple Mage’s Hand, Muria opened the metallic cover of the book: “May I try?”
“Certainly.”
After slight hesitation, Muria’s gaze turned toward Auston, a red armored youth strolling around the plaza. He had now ignored his presence and was looking at some valuable merchandise on both sides of the street.
“Is he your subordinate, Honored Customer?” Following Muria’s gaze, the Goblin Merchant noticed Auston, “Do you wish to test it on him?”
“What should I do?” Muria took out a vibrant red scale, emitting a scorching breath. It was one of Auston’s scales. Muria looked towards the goblin with an inquisitive gaze.
“A Red Dragon’s scale.” Seeing the vibrant scale in Muria’s hand, the goblin’s face broke into an excited smile, “You’ll need to put it on one of the pages.”
“Is that so?” Muria touched the thick leather pages of the Curse Book, raising an eyebrow, “Abyss Refining Demon’s hide? Interesting.”
“Hehe, customer, it is said that the Legendary Mage skinned a Lord of Hell while it was still alive to make this book. Its power may be beyond your expectations.”
“Hm,” Muria placed Auston’s dragon scale onto the pages made from the Abyss Refining Demon. He watched as the black smoke from the pages dragged the scale into them, transforming it into an imposing, fierce, yet seemingly weak Red Dragon. It looked so lifelike that one might expect it to leap out at any moment.
“Interesting!” Once Auston’s dragon shadow appeared onto the pages, in a few moments, the Curse Book established some mysterious connection to Auston himself. The fierce dragon shadow turned into a curious, red-haired youth in red armor.
It was an exact replica of Auston, his actions synchronized on the pages. Not only that, the background of the street also formed around the images, representing his current location.
“How much? I’m buying,” Muria decided immediately after seeing this.
