Chapter 271 - 271 266 The Protection of the Deity

Chapter 271: Chapter 266: The Protection of the Deity Chapter 271: Chapter 266: The Protection of the Deity “I am a noble of the Kingdom of Aub, you cannot kill me!” A pale-faced noble youth cried out in a trembling voice upon seeing the youth reach out towards him, his face filled with terror.

He recognized who the youth that suddenly flipped the roof was. He could not believe that such a being was preparing to strike him.

For the first time, he felt the proximity of death, and he had no chance to fight back. He could only hope that his identity would cause the young man to hesitate.

Muria, showing no change in his expression at all, reached down. Everything in the room, including the noble youth and the old butler, exploded simultaneously, and the room was filled with the stinging smell of blood.

“Oh, a devout believer of the Heavenly Deity, what a surprise.” Muria said, slightly taken aback as he looked at the translucent specter in the room, which bore an uncanny resemblance to the noble youth, covered in a faint golden glow.

This was a sign of divine protection and the only reason his soul survived under Muria’s palm. As for the old butler’s soul, it was naturally annihilated under Muria’s palm.

“Deity, huh!” Muria smirked, unsheathing his Demonsweeper Sword. With a swing in mid-air, the faint golden light covering the soul shattered instantly, screaming into oblivion within the sword light.

“Dared to hurt mine and expecting to go to the Divine Kingdom? Annihilate!” Muria coldly laughed. Subsequently, his body transformed into a golden rainbow, soaring towards another noble’s manor.

Because of the noise Muria had made when he struck, everyone in the Patrick Fortress, or rather in that part of the city, saw it. Soon enough, some bold adventurers snuck in and discovered a nobleman who had suffered a ghastly death in his own mansion.

Soon after, a piece of news broke out: A noble had been slain by the Golden Dragon who had bid farewell to the Holy Warrior at the city gate.

Such explosive news immediately caused the entire city to boil. Muria was already well-known in this city. Even if they hadn’t seen him, they had heard of him.

“How did that noble provoke Lord Golden Dragon? I heard his death was exceptionally gruesome, without even an intact body left.”

“Can’t you figure it out? Just yesterday, this Lord protected a demon-slaying knight, and in less than a day, this demon-slaying knight was assassinated. Guess how the noble provoked Lord Golden Dragon.”

“So this nobleman was the one who planned the assassination of the demon-slaying knight? Then he really deserved to die!”

“He got what he deserved! It’s a good thing this kind of scum is dead!”

“They even killed the protectors of our human race, their brains are full of pig slop.”

…While adventurers and residents in the city were still talking about the first noble Muria killed, he had already consecutively killed six more nobles, each time without any intention of concealing his tracks, openly entering and exiting the noble’s manors.

Soon, Muria’s reckless actions were intercepted by the strongest human in this city.

“Golden Dragon, I understand those fools insulted your dignity, but your actions are disregarding the Kingdom of Aub. Stop!” The brow-beating general Muria had encountered once floated in the air, blocking his path.

This was a Tier-3 Soul Intent Level human, with eleven Soul Intent Circles faintly visible behind him, spinning slowly.

“Get out of my way!” Muria curled his lips, then threw his hand, a howling hurricane condensed into a giant cyclone hand of over ten meters, shooting towards the general.

“Ha!” The stern-faced general loudly yelled, the Soul Circles behind him bathed in glorious light, the radiant Fighting Qi enveloping his entire body.

The sheer force drew the attention of the already excited adventurers in the city – too many nobles had died today.

“Boom!” Muria’s giant cyclone hand hit the Soul Intent general. The explosion produced by their collision swept across the Fortress City with nearly a million people, their clothes and hair being blown around.

“Boom!” Then all the people in the city saw their strongest human being slapped directly into the ground by the furious Lord Golden Dragon. The dust that soared up was nearly a hundred meters high and could be seen by the entire city.

And then there was no more; the general, who had just been in a high profile position, could no longer get back on his feet, flying high into the sky, as if he had been beaten by the Golden Dragon with a single palm…

Muria glanced at the general buried in the thick dust below and, according to the list of nobles she had, continued flying to the next, she was going to settle scores with all of these nobles…

“General, are you okay!” From below, at the moment when the general was falling to ground, his deputy rushed up with an anxious look in his eyes.

“Do I look like I’m hurt?” The general, his face covered in dust, sat in a mound of dust, looking up at the column of dust above his head, a look of disappointment in his eyes: “Now the whole city must know that I was slapped into the air by a human-shaped Golden Dragon.”

“Don’t worry, general. The technique I used has turned the soil in this area into the finest dust. The smoke column rising from where you landed can be seen clearly by everyone in the Patrick Fortress.”

Hearing his deputy, the general cracked a faint smile: “Can’t you care about the extent of the disgrace I suffered this time? Once I go back, they’re going to taunt me for twenty years.”

“But there’s no other option.” The deputy comforted him, “That Golden Dragon chose not to remain unnoticed and slaughtered the crazed nobles covertly. We had to sacrifice your dignity.”

“I could have just sat in my command room and watched the Golden Dragon kill these nobles, who’ve always been dragging me down. Why did I have to expose myself to such disgrace, goddammit!”

“Considering the trouble stirred up by the Golden Dragon, if you didn’t respond at all, you wouldn’t have been able to explain yourself to the Parliament.” The deputy tried to appease the general.

“Hmm, I can explain myself now, but at the cost of losing all face.” The general spoke, visibly annoyed.

“Cool down, general. There’s still one step left to complete. Lie down, and I’ll smear some blood on you. Once we’re done, we’ll have you carried back through the busiest streets.”

“Enough, don’t you think I’ve already lost enough face? I had a deal with the Golden Dragon to pretend to be slapped by him. Must I pretend to be seriously injured too?”

“General, in such cases, isn’t it better to make it look worse? Besides, you agreed to this plan beforehand.”

“I was foolish enough to believe you and agreed to your bloody plan.” The general grumbled and then reluctantly lay down.

Meanwhile, Muria looked at the empty manor before her, inspecting the trembling servants kneeling at her feet, and inquired indifferently, “Where’s your master?”

“He… he ran… ran with the butler.” A female servant answered, goosebumps dancing on her skin.

“Where did he run off to?” Muria asked unconcernedly, not expecting any real answers from these servants, but the response she got was surprising.

“Master escaped to the Andy Territory, it’s his father’s, Count Andy’s domain.”

“It seems this guy is just an insignificant offspring in the eyes of his father.” Muria looked around the manor – quite large from a commoner’s perspective, but quite humble for a son of a count.

“Sir…” Seeing that Muria didn’t seem to have any intentions of killing them, this brave servant spoke up again, “Are you here for the assassination task entrusted by Master yesterday?”

“What do you know?” Muria raised an eyebrow, surprised as she looked down at the servant.

“Count Andy had ordered Master to issue that contract; Master was initially reluctant to execute it.”

“I understand.” Muria nodded and then took off.

After that, she went to find the remaining nobles from the list in her hands. Without exception, they had all escaped. These nobles were not fools, they’d have to be idiots not to notice such commotion and to not run after noticing it.
