Chapter 244 - 244 239 Betrayal
Chapter 244: Chapter 239 Betrayal Chapter 244: Chapter 239 Betrayal “Crack!” Just as Muria was reflecting on his thoughts, the sound of shattering suddenly echoed through the air. Above him, the fabric of space looked like a mirror that had been fiercely struck, leaving delicate fissures that rapidly spread before shattering in a loud crash, revealing a dark, irregularly shaped space gate.
“Found you!” From within the space gate, a gigantic dragon with eyes like molten gold — radiating intense light — peeked out. Scanning the area below, its gaze eventually rested on Kaslana. In the dragon’s eyes, joy and affection radiated brightly.
“A legendary ancient golden dragon!” Exclaimed the ghost deputy on the ghost ship when Yarvis made his appearance. Then, in a tone of great relief, he boasted, “Fortuitously, I was clever enough to suspect that there was another older dragon when I saw the Golden Dragon. I refrained from making a killing blow.”
As a legendary undead gallivanting with Barbossa, he was likewise a member of the Undead Council. However, he only followed Barbossa’s orders, ignoring those from the other council members entirely.
Their famous big figures and their notorious incidents within the Undead Council — he was well aware of them all.
Like that time, Bertlein, stirred trouble with the Metallic and Gemstone Dragon Clans in his pursuit of creating powerful Bone and Ghost Dragons. This resulted in a league of angering ancient dragons who relentlessly pursued him across the world.
Bertlein was a member of the Undead Council. When he was being hunted, the council did try to rescue him—however, all their attempts were blocked.
Furthermore, those instituting a warrant for this Dragonmancer’s capture included a Platinum Dragon God with a powerful divine background in the good-aligned faction and three Dragon Kings capable of operating at full strength in the Material World.
Due to these pressures, Bertlein was cornered by the group of ancient dragons, resulting in him self-destructing. To escape the wrath of the dragon races, Bertlein had no choice but to resurrect through the Life Box located within the council’s premises.
“A bunch of dwindling undead dares to hurt my granddaughter.” Yarvis’s vast dragon body, measuring more than 150 meters long, emerged from the space gate as an Ancient Gold Dragon.
After confirming his granddaughter’s safety, his dragon eyes — filled with rage so intense that fire seemed to burn within them — rested on a seven-masted ghost ironclad ship below. Among the many ghost ships, this one was the largest. Who else could he target?
“Ancient Gold Dragon, I didn’t intend to hurt your granddaughter. I just planned to capture her.”
In a one-on-one duel, the ghost deputy knew he would be trampled under the Legendary Ancient Gold Dragon. But with his fleet of ghost ships at this command, he had no fear.
“Capture her? Ha!” Upon hearing these words, Yarvis’s rage erupted like a dormant volcano. With his emotional upheaval, endless flames appeared in the sky, dyeing half of the sky red—a sea of fire manifested in the skies.
“I have shown mercy by not hurting your granddaughter. How about we call it quits now?” The ghost deputy did not wish to provoke the Metallic Dragons – they were too troublesome.
“Call it quits? Sure, if you meet one condition of mine.”
“Meeting your conditions? Just because you are an ancient dragon, don’t think I fear you!” The words of Yarvis immediately infuriated the ghost deputy. He felt he had shown enough respect to the Ancient Dragon, considering that it was his granddaughter who had initiated the conflict by stealing their fleet’s ships.
“Prepare the magic cannons! Aim them at this big dragon.” With the ghost deputy’s command, the ragtag undead fleet — a collection of ships with no uniform design— swiftly turned their broadsides towards Yarvis. One by one, the antique magic cannons were pushed onto the platform.
“These magic cannons should be displayed in a museum, not used to attack an ancient dragon.” Muria said under his breath as he looked at the magic cannons on the ghost ships. “Can these really fire properly?”
“These cannons and the ghost ships are integrated; they’re both semi-spiritual entities. They should be able to fire, but the attack attributes are probably different from regular magic cannons.”
Even when she saw her grandfather about to be attacked by dozens of ghost ships, the Golden Dragon Sister remained calm and discussed the structure and attack methods of the ghost ships with Muria, who was similarly calm as ever.
The Ancient Golden Dragon Alviss has already appeared, so those ancient dragons should also be arriving soon.
“Fir…” Just as the Ghost Deputy was about to order the firing, he watched in disbelief as one by one, powerful ancient dragons tore through space, appearing in all directions of the Undead fleet and spreading their legendary Dragon Prestige.
“Start…Start firing in welcome! Such gallant and heroic…stalwart and magnificent ancient dragons.” After seeing nineteen ancient dragons appear, surrounding their fleet, the Ghost Deputy quickly corrected himself, adopting a flattering tone.
His undead subordinates also wisely turned their cannons around, firing one after another dead qi condensed shell into space, like thunder and deafening.
“This legendary undead, is truly a talent!” Muria exclaimed with astonishment.
“Humph!” One of the ancient dragon-level Sapphire Dragons snorted disdainfully after hearing the Soul Sound emitted by this legendary level undead, and the undead shells hitting the empty space.
“How did this guy even get promoted to legendary?”
“I know this guy, his name is Anlo, born of human poverty, became a pirate because he was starving. He should be one of the earliest pirates to become undead following Barbosa. By now he has almost existed for ten thousand years. Such a long time would even turn a pig into a legend…”
“Honored ancient dragons, is there anything we can assist you with?” Even after hearing the ancient dragons in the sky commenting about him in their haughty postures and disdainful tones, Anlo, who imperviously stood his ground, continued to maintain a humble and submissive posture.
Having lost all sense of shame when he was still alive, he became an undead who has existed for ten thousand years, while from the tens of thousands of pirates who initially became undead with him under Barbossa, few now remain.
“Tell us, where is Bertlein right now?”
“That’s, you’re asking too much of me. I’m just a humble first mate, how would I know such information?”
“You don’t know? Then what is your purpose here?”
“Wait a minute!” Seeing that the Ancient Dragons seemed about to take action, a skeleton clad in worn-out, decaying armor, wielding a bone sword, appeared atop the Ghost ironclad.
“I may not know where Bertlein is but my captain, Lord Barbossa, definitely does. I can take you to him.”
“He’s just selling out his own captain?” Muria, with a look of astonishment, looked at the jade-like transparent skeleton undead in the sky.
