Chapter 235: Chapter 230: Arrival of the Giant Dragon Chapter 235: Chapter 230: Arrival of the Giant Dragon “Stab her, my knight, let your daughter gain eternal life like you.” Upon seeing the girl blocking the Dark knight’s path, the Lich, filled with fervor, incessantly gave orders through the brand he had imprinted in the Dark Knight.
However, an unprecedented resistance was sent back through the brand to the Lich, causing its soul fire to flicker uncertainly.
“Bastard, what are you hesitating for?” The Lich, cloaked in an ancient black robe, landed on the ground and flew next to the Dark Knight. It grabbed the long spear in his hand and scolded, banging his faceguard which was topped by the bluish netherflame :
“Don’t you want your daughter to have eternal life? To possess a body that won’t feel fatigue, won’t feel pain, won’t be affected by those trivial emotions.”
“…” Under the faceguard, the soul fire of the Dark Knight trembled fiercely and then a clear wave of soul intention was heard, “No!”
“Damned thing!” The Lich, unable to conceal his anger, turned to the pale girl being corroded by the pure death qi naturally emanating from him, “I command you, kill her.”
“Roar!” A non-human growl emanated from the Dark Knight as he resisted the Lich’s control over his soul, and it would come at a cost of pain.
Having lost most of former his memories, he did not comprehend why he would rather endure the agony of his soul being torn apart than harm the girl in front of him.
“Kill her!” The Lich roared, his soul sound filled with rage was enough to shock few surviving ordinary humans into fainting.
As a result of the constant urging through the soul brand by the Lich, the Dark Knight fell into a violent rage, and thick death qi, akin to black serpents, surged into the long spear in his hand.
“Hiss!” The spear was enveloped by the eerie bluish silence, chillingly cold fires, causing the air around it to freeze into ice crystals which fell onto the ground.
“That’s right, as a Dark Knight, you should obey my command.” The Lich “laughed” arbitrarily, releasing the long spear, “Go ahead, grant your beloved daughter eternal life.”
Observing the Lich, donned in a black robe with his skeletal wand and his soul fire fiercely burning in his skull, and her father, who was slowly raising his spear towards her, ready to run her through, Orlina, trembling from the dense death qi, slowly shut her eyes.
“Roar!” After a few moments of wait, instead of her father’s spear burning with nether flames, Orlina heard an enraged roar emanating from a soul.
Immediately after, an assaultive wave of death qi and ice crystals swept towards her, shattering the three pre-set mage’s barriers around her and knocking the girl to the ground.
Sitting on the ground, the startled girl opened her eyes, only to find the Lich who was just acting haughty had now disappeared, with only the Dark Knight, encircled by the death qi, remaining in place.
A hole billowing smoke appeared on the nearby city wall.
“What happened? Where is the Lich?” The girl, whose butt hurt from the fall, looked with baffled eyes upon the scene before her.
“Sis, dad just hit that big skeleton away with his spear. He’s protecting us.” Behind the girl Orlina, at the entrance of the carriage, the young boy Balk described what just happened with an excited face.
“Father!” Orlina stared blankly at the gloomy, foreboding Dark Knight in front of her, her lips quivering as she uttered the word.
Among the undead, the hierarchy is strict. The cost and pain of resisting control from a superior undead, who has a better command over their own soul, is unimaginable for the living.
“Keep your brother safe. Survive.” The Dark Knight, who had lost most of his memories and didn’t even know why he was saying this, swung his long spear at the encircling undead, slashing out several strokes with his spear.
Where his black spear strokes flew, they instantly slashed several obese abominations, dripping with pus and blood and giving off a vile smell, into slabs of rotten meat. Then these spear strokes exploded directly, sending out tremendous force that tore more than a dozen ghouls and half real-bodied vengeful spirits to shreds.
The group of people, who had no way to escape initially, cheered and jumped in joy as they rushed towards this gap in the encirclement made by the Dark Knight.
Suddenly, the soul fire in the Dark Knight’s cranium trembled violently, and then exploded, causing the soul power of the undead to spill heavily. In the end, only a tiny bit was left, and the skeletal warhorse he was sitting on, burning with nether fire, exploded and turned into a pile of broken bones.
“Just a bunch of ants. Relying on a rebellious Dark Knight, where do you think you can escape to?” A soul sound filled with fury echoed in everyone’s mind.
The Lich who had detonated his control imprint within the Dark Knight’s soul fire flew out from the pit he had created. On his ribcage, dense runes shone with evil spirit light. Several broken ribs slowly moved inward and then healed.
“Father!” “Daddy!” Orlina and Balk both screamed. They rushed to the immobile Dark Knight, his body almost dissipated, the soul fire in his head flickering.
“Run!” A weak soul sound came out from the nearly extinguished faceguard of the Dark Knight.
“Run? Today, none of you will survive!” The Lich, now in a state of rage, waved his bone staff. The restless undead that had originally surrounded the evacuation team charged at the people who had just seen a glimmer of hope.
The abominations swung their sickles, ripping apart human after human; ghouls and corpse ghosts emerged in droves and pounced on the humans, gnawing at their flesh amid screams. Any human who so much as brushed past the vengeful spirits lost parts of their life, eventually becoming mummified…
Listening to the desperate howls and screams, the Lich spread his arms and landed next to Orlina and Balk: “Listen, what a wonderful sound!”
“Lich!” Orlina raised her head. She fixed her gaze on the “skeleton” enveloped in an ancient black robe, her face not hiding her hatred. The child beside her did the same.
“What a good look,” the Lich commented. His hollow eye sockets, covered in a bluish soul fire, stared at the siblings. “I lost an exceptional Dark Knight because of you, so both of you will pay for my loss with your souls!”
“Bang!”Just as the Lich tried to extract the souls of the siblings to create vengeful spirits, a claw covered with bright red scales and the size of a house suddenly stretched out from behind him and slapped down…
Orlina and Balk stared in shock at this scene; it was beyond their comprehension. But what made them even more dumbfounded was the appearance of a ferocious yet majestic head covered in bone-textured armor, with two horns, slowly emerging above the claw.
“Red Dragon!”
