Chapter 225 - 225 220 Undead Council
Chapter 225: Chapter 220: Undead Council Chapter 225: Chapter 220: Undead Council Bavaria Kingdom, nestled at the northern tip of Ionia, had managed to offend a group of legendary witches and undead, or maybe they had been merely targeted arbitrarily.
One fateful night, an endless tide of undead appeared, shrouded in necromantic fog, quietly surrounding the capital of the Bavaria Kingdom.
Skeleton soldiers, zombies, vengeful spirits, ghouls, gargoyle abominations, dark knights, corpse witches… Countless undead rose from the earth, awakened or summoned from the undead plane by some powerful beings.
Under the command of such entities, the boundless tide of the undead began their attack on the capital.
Just as the two residing legends in the capital were about to try to drive away the undead tide, boasting a substantial number of high-ranked undead, twice the number of legendary undead sprung from the fog, repelling their attacks.
In the face of these circumstances, the two legends defending the Bavaria Kingdom’s capital dared not act recklessly. Seeking aid from other legendary figures in the kingdom, the King of Bavaria also called upon the nobles of each fief to bring their armies to support the capital.
In the onslaught of the undead tide, and having held their ground for less than half a day, five more legends from various parts of the kingdom, along with numerous aristocrats of the Soul Intent Level, rapidly gathered their armies and arrived at the Royal Capital through the teleportation array.
Without giving thought to their losses, in just half a day, Bavaria Kingdom managed to collectively assemble over 70 percent of the Kingdom’s military might.
“Looking back now, sending reinforcements to the capital was a trap. The legendary witches and undead sought to annihilate the Bavarian Kingdom’s strongest warriors in one fell swoop.
It was clear they had the means to seal the space, denying us any chance of aid. I should have seen that when I successfully took my armies to the capital,” Golden Dragon Lude confessed to Muria and the other dragons, his face a mixture of shock and anger.
“And what happened next? Despite assembling seven legendary figures, you still failed to quell the sudden undead tide?” a dragon asked with curiosity.
Hearing this, Muria scoffed. She could guess the outcome just from the state Golden Dragon Lude arrived in. The undead that attacked him must have been considerably high-ranking among the legends, almost succeeding in killing Golden Dragon with just one swipe.
The attack on such a formidable legendary Undead, able to spare the power to strike at Golden Dragon on the Soul Intent Level, inferred what? It suggested that they had plenty of strength remaining even after dealing with the seven legends of the Bavarian Kingdom.
“We lost, and it was a crushing defeat,” Golden Dragon wore a bitter smile on his face. “Seven legends, accompanied by thirty-seven Great Nobles, and over a million elite soldiers, launched a counterattack on the undead tide.
We initially believed we could easily repel this bizarre attack from the undead. But from beyond the necromantic fog, ten legendary undead appeared in an instant, tying up the seven of our legendary figures.
Next, a number of Soul Intent Level undead, at least twice as many as us, appeared, entangling us in their grasp. Without the leadership of us aristocrats of Soul Intent Level, our armies were overwhelmed by the undead tide, led by the undead of Soul Intent Level,”
“I have a question – your status in the Bavarian Kingdom was…?” Silver Dragon Claire asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
“I’m a privileged marquis of the first rank in the Bavarian Kingdom,” Golden Dragon replied, sounding slightly defeated.
“Wow! So, Lord Lude was also a landed dragon. But what is a privileged marquis?” a less experienced adolescent dragon softly asked an older dragon beside him.
“In some nations, to win over potential allies among the strong and powerful beings, a specific rank of nobility is created, known as privileged nobles.
Depending on the strength, status, and race of those being ennobled, different privileges are granted. But there is one basic privilege they all share – everything in their territories belongs to them, and they are not required to pay any taxes,” answered the older dragon.
“Being a privileged noble sounds really good then?” a blond loli dragon wearing a gothic dress, a Yellow Bronze Dragon, asked with her eyes glowing.
“Just look at Lude to know what it’s really like. During normal times, all we need to do is enjoy our benefits, but when the kingdom’s survival is at stake, we must join in the fight.”
“Whew, it was awful how Lude looked just now.” The questioning Red Copper Dragon hit her flat chest, even with her limited experience, she could tell that if it hadn’t been for the gathering of hundreds of dragons today, Golden Dragon Lude would have already reported to Dragon God Bahamut,”I won’t be a privileged noble.”
“Hehe, becoming a privileged noble is not as easy as you think. Well, we are dragons, as long as we put in a little effort, gaining a privileged title in a human kingdom shouldn’t be too difficult.”
“Don’t change the subject! Lude, what ended up happening with the war?”
“We lost. Of the seven legends, two died on the spot, and a legendary warrior was banished to an unknown spacetime by a legendary lich.”
“What about the other four legends?”
“They retreated with the king, members of the royal family, and some of the remaining Great Nobles. In less than a day, the capital of Bavaria fell.” Golden Dragon Lude’s face flushed with shame as he said this, “I retreated then too along with the others.”
“And then what happened?”
“Under the relentless chase of the legendary undead, we fled to another core city of the Bavarian Kingdom, Bucharest, which is the largest church city in the kingdom, and where two coffin grand bishops of the Dawn Church reside.
The king hoped that the city, with its defenses no less than the capital and its numerous temples, could temporarily shield us from the legendary undead.”
“So, now the top echelons of the severely beaten Bavarian Kingdom are holed up in Bucharest, leveraging the power of the Dawn Church to evade these legendary undead?”
“That’s correct.” Golden Dragon Lude’s face showed a touch of embarrassment. This action was akin to the surrender of royal power to divine power.
“Those entities continue to besiege us, despite us hiding in Bucharest. At least five legendary undead are still lurking outside Bucharest, and the wound on my body was left by one of them when I went out for help.”
“They dared to surround the city where the main temple of the Dawn Lord is located. These undead are indeed bold.”
“Not boldness, but confidence,” Caslana, who had been silently listening to Golden Dragon Lude’s account, said in a calm tone.
“In less than two days, rallied ten legendary undead, overwhelmed Bavaria’s most powerful forces and elite legions, and showed no fear of divine wrath. I shouldn’t need to say it, you should all be able to guess what kind of power they represent.”
“The Undead Council!”
