King of Titans and Dragons -
Chapter 213 - 213 208 Ransom
Chapter 213: Chapter 208: Ransom Chapter 213: Chapter 208: Ransom “There’s no need for this!” Seeing a group of green dragons bowing in submission to Muria, the Golden Dragon Sister Kaslana rather helplessly conveyed her thoughts to Muria, “They are a bunch of Five-coloured Dragons, and they simply aren’t worthy of being your followers.”
As a Lawful Good Golden Dragon, Kaslana held a certain disdain and prejudice towards the Five Coloured Dragons. Among the Metallic Dragons, the second-ranking Silver Dragons could hold their own against Red Dragons of the same age bracket, let alone the Golden Dragons.
Golden Dragon Sister Kaslana was confident that she could easily defeat any Five Coloured Dragon of the same age bracket.
“Moreover, little brother Muria, with your identity, many Metallic Dragons would be willing to follow you. You really don’t need to accept a group of green dragons.”
“The Metallic Dragon Clan…” Muria mused in silence, looking at the mature woman with green hair kneeling before him and the two soul-level green dragons and thirteen gold-level green dragons who were bowing their heads in submission to him.
Not all green dragons were willing to follow Muria. If he were a descendant of the Evil Dragon King, this group of green dragons would undoubtedly all desert without hesitation, and follow Muria.
However, he was a Golden Dragon, which made many green dragons uncomfortable; the character of a benevolent dragon and an evil dragon could differ greatly. When it came to following someone, regular green dragons would choose a stronger one of their own kind rather than a giant dragon of a different race.
“Even if I am the offspring of a Dragon King, I doubt many Metallic Dragons would follow me.” In response to the Golden Dragon Sister’s words, Muria shook his head, “After all, we Metallic Dragons are used to being loners.”
As creatures at the top of the world food chain, dragons usually, once they have gained a certain amount of strength, leave the protection of their parents to find their own territory for independent survival.
Among the Five-coloured Dragons, outside of blue dragons and green dragons, which were the types that live together, Red Dragons and Black Dragons mostly lived alone, unless it was mating season and they needed to find a mate, only then would two dragons live together.
As for White Dragons, which were considered the disgrace of the dragon race, they were a bit special, some lived together, others lived alone, their situation purely a result of their individual circumstances. As such, any dragon slayer looking to make a name for themselves usually set their sights on White Dragons first.
The reason for the congregations of blue dragons and green dragons was mostly due to the influence of the Mother of Evil Dragons, Tiamat. After all, in terms of followers, these two types of dragons boasted the highest numbers.
“If you guys don’t wish to follow me, that’s alright.” After much contemplation, Muria waved to the green dragons who were still contemplating, hesitating or those who had already decided, “You all behave properly and wait for the Mother Emerald to come to ransom you.”
The fifteen chains that had branched out from the Star Cloud Chains clinked loudly, relinquishing all the green dragons willing to follow Muria, granting them their freedom.
“There’s something I want to ask!” Muria raised an eyebrow, looking at the fifteen green dragons: “You guys are all followers of the Mother of Evil Dragons, right? Among you, are there any shallow believers or standard believers?”
“Ahem, Your Highness Muria, I’m just a shallow believer.” The elderly green dragon Fiona coughed and spoke up.
“I’m a shallow believer too.”
“So am I.”
…After a round of questioning, Muria found out that green dragons willing to follow him were all shallow believers, or in other words, believers who could change their faith at any time. Well, they were just slightly better than the modern folks from his previous life who would bow down to any deity they came across.
“What level of believers are you?” Muria turned his gaze to the seventeen green dragons tied up by him.
“Your Highness Muria, they are all loyal followers of Tiamat under your authority. I have seen them offer copper coins to the Five-coloured Dragon Mother’s idol as offerings.”
…A dragon believer who could offer copper coins to their deity could indeed be considered a true believer.
If they could offer silver coins, that would mean they were extremely loyal believers.
If they could offer gold coins, there would be no doubt that they could be counted as fanatical believers.
However, these types of dragons were even rarer than world-famous dragons like Atris for the past tens of thousands of years. Loyal believers were quite possibly the limit for dragons. It was almost impossible to go any further.
After all, those who believed in deities were majorly weak creatures and races. In this perilous world, the weak could only pray to the deities for protection to have a better chance of survival.
However, dragons were creatures born with immense strength. As long as they survive the baby dragon and young dragon period, they could generally live quite comfortably. An ordinary calamity was just a spectacle for them and couldn’t harm them.
That’s why the stronger a creature, the less likely they were to believe in deities.
“Okay, got it.” Muria nodded and then looked outside the city, where there was a crippled red dragon waiting for him to subdue.
…
“How’s your decision going?” Muria floated up in the sky with the Golden Dragon Sister, looking down upon the Red Dragon Otlis, who was on its last breath, the Demonsweeper Sword lodged in its body was constantly draining its power.
“All of them have pledged their loyalty to you?” Red Dragon Otlis lifted its head, looking at the fifteen green dragons surrounding Muria, clearly taken aback.
“Uh-huh!”
“If I refuse to pledge my loyalty, would my fate be the same as the green dragons you have under control?” Otlis pointed at the seventeen green dragons that Muria had bundled up together.
“What are you thinking?” Muria laughed at the Red Dragon Otlis, “I tied up these green dragons because the Mother Emerald Isra might pay ransom for them, but if I tie you up, which Red Dragon would pay to free you?”
“…” Wing of Crimson Otlis fell silent, who would ransom him? As a lone dragon, living according to the principle of ‘one dragon fed means the whole family is taken care of.’ However, in turn, if anything happened, no dragon was going to worry about it.
Parents? Forget about it, Otlis clearly remembered being ruthlessly expelled from his dragon cave by his parents once he entered adolescence, and that’s when his journey as a wandering dragon began.
Siblings? Considering the survival rate of Red Dragons, Otlis didn’t think any of his siblings were still alive.
Offspring? Well, he had mated with several strong female Red Dragons and laid quite a few clutches of dragon eggs. But he did the same as his parents, once they reached adolescence, almost all of them were chased away.
Not to mention, he didn’t know how many of his dragon sons and dragon daughters were still living in this world. Even if he found them, those offspring of his probably wouldn’t care about his life or death the way he did in the past.
So, Red Dragon Otlis looked at Muria with a glimmer of hope, “Could I ransom myself?”
