Chapter 198 - 198 193 Demon Hunter

Chapter 198: Chapter 193: Demon Hunter Chapter 198: Chapter 193: Demon Hunter “Roar!” As the night just started to cover Valiant, a wretched scream erupted from a corner of the city, a cry saturated with despair and terror that stirred the already uneasy atmosphere of the city.

Over twenty rainbow lights streaked across the night sky, heading towards the source of the scream. These were Golden-level Powerhouses capable of flying. Valiant, as the largest commercial city in the Baiye Kingdom, was home to quite a few such formidable fighters.

The Dawn Church had few Red-clothed Grand Archbishops of the Soul Intent level in the Baiye Kingdom, but one of them resided in Valiant. This alone illustrated the importance of this city.

As a commercial city, Valiant saw a large amount of population movement. Every day, merchant corps and adventure groups from all over the country entered the city. Similarly, many flesh-eating monsters infiltrated the city too, slaughtering humans in the veil of darkness and devouring their flesh.

In the eyes of many Dark Races, human cities were akin to vast ranches, and humans were like cattle and sheep raised within. With a little caution, they could easily satiate their hunger.

But now, within Valiant, these dark creatures that viewed humans as food were experiencing their apocalypse because a Demon Hunter Knight had descended upon the city and begun his purge.

The monsters hidden within the city were trembling with terror because, on the first night of the Demon Hunter Knight’s arrival, he had slain the most formidable demon beast ensconced in the city, the grandson of the Hundred Leaves Mage, a third-ranking Marquess of the Kingdom, Mendoza Inok, without any regard for his identity.

Now, on the second night, the Demon Hunter Knight began sweeping the entire city…

Over twenty Golden-level Powerhouses hovered above a noble manor in Valiant, and after observing the silent manor illuminated only by the lambent glow of lamps and fires.

After sharing a glance, they unleashed their Fighting Qi, which coalesced into two giant hands. In one swift move, they stripped away the rooftop of the villa inside the manor, leaving the scene within the villa exposed to everyone’s sight.

Broken furniture lay scattered all around. Amid the chaos, ten or so humanoid creatures with bat wings sprouted from their backs lay slaughtered around a long dining table that was split in two. Numerous bat carcasses were also strewn around the villa.

“Fifteen low-rank Blood Clan members, as well as one mid-rank one, all killed instantly without any chance of resistance. Tsktsk, this must be the Demon Hunter Knight’s handiwork. Among us in Valiant, apart from a few Soul Intent level individuals, no Golden-level being possesses such combat power.”

“Tsk! A mid-tier Blood Clan member undetected in our city, and it appears they have been here for some time.” As he spoke, a Golden-level powerhouse wearing knight’s armor descended to the ground and picked up a – or rather, half of a bat corpse.

Upon hearing these words, the faces of more than ten divine staff present became grave.

“This is the Blood Clan’s Transform into Bats, an upper-grade bloodline secret skill for both battle and escape, yet it failed to resist a single strike from the Demon Hunter Knight.” A mage, wielding a wooden magic staff, landed to inspect the surrounding traces. “The Demon Hunter Knight is truly as fearsome as his reputation suggests.”

“Hmph, if a prince of the Blood Clan were to enact Transform into Bats…”

“They would also eventually meet their demise under the sword,” another powerhouse interrupted, “In the Dark Era, in the Age of Gods, numerous records in history books chronicle the Blood Clan princes slaughtered by Demon Hunter Knights. Even if there aren’t a hundred, there are at least eighty.”

“This Demon Hunter Knight has yet to fully grow.” Among the Golden-level powerhouses, a wave of spiritual fluctuations spread out, and someone murmured cynically, “An upper-rank Blood Clan member at the Peak of Soul Intent can easily snuff out this Golden-level Demon Hunter Knight.”

“Who’s there? Show yourself!” More than ten priests and paladins, outraged upon hearing these words, surrounded the source of the voice. They were all from the Good God Church of the human race, united to protect the Demon Hunter Knight from any harm caused by these evildoers.

“It appears some sneaky organisms have infiltrated us.” A paladin, wielding a knight’s spear and bursting with anger, discharged a wave of pure white, holy light-attributed Fighting Qi which swept across everyone present.

The group of more than ten priests and paladins showed no reaction to the sweeping holy light as it passed over their bodies. For them, the holy light did not respond in any way.

“Hmph!” Seeing the obviously probing holy light, a few beings, either cloaked in gray robes, shielded by hooded capes, or hiding behind metal masks, took action immediately to break the holy light’s probing.

Noticing their resistance, several temple priests who had just arrived each focused on one individual, casting their faction-detecting Divine Art. When it hit those who resisted, a rich, dark red glow illuminated the ground all around, as if soaked in blood.

“Kill!” Seeing the overly dense, almost blackish red light, several paladins unsheathed their swords or held their spears, charging forward without hesitation. The holy light-attributed Fighting Qi condensed into a massive weapon and crashed down.

A creature emitting such a dense red light, regardless of whether or not it was a human, deserved to die! There was absolutely no room for error.

“Roar, human!” Seeing the human paladins attacking him, one of the masked Golden-level powerhouses let out an inhuman roar, and his body started to expand rapidly, tearing apart his clothing and the bronze mask on his face.

This was a monster resembling a human hunk, and it was now revealing its true form. His head began to twist and transform rapidly, his lower jaw extending outward. Fangs pierced out from his mouth, and bluish-black wolf fur sprouted from his skin. In just two breaths – a towering werewolf over three meters tall was standing tall.

“Barbaric savage!” Seeing the transformation of the Golden-level werewolf, people from the crowd of hidden figures commented mockingly, without lowering their voices.

“Smearing makeup all over yourself, bats. I could smell your stench from a mile away.” Hearing this voice, the werewolf raised his claw without hesitation and swung four claw-shaped lights towards the direction where the voice came.

“Hmph! Just as I thought, no brains.” Seeing that after revealing his true form, the werewolf didn’t attack the divine staff of the good gods but instead targeted him first, the person who had just been under the gray robe and had made the comment earlier let two beams of red light shoot out from the darkness under the hood of his cloak.

“Clang!” The sound of a sword being unsheathed echoed, and a blood-red beam flew out, shattering all four claw-shaped lights that the werewolf had thrown at him.

“Blood Clan!”

There was nothing more to say; the fight began on the spot. What started as a mere inspection of a manor resulted in the inspectors coming to blows. The divine staff of the Human race’s Good God Church had encountered the Dark Races. There was no room for compromise or tolerance – it was battle on sight.

“Hmph, such long years, it seems that even the Eternal Life Beings can forget. You monsters lurking in the darkness dare to make a move in a city where a Demon Hunter Knight is present.”
