Chapter 192 - 192 187 Heavens Wrath Knights
Chapter 192: Chapter 187 Heaven’s Wrath Knights Chapter 192: Chapter 187 Heaven’s Wrath Knights “I understand, deities need faith, but the demon hunters directly replaced these deities.” A chill rose in Muria’s heart, “You mean, the end of the Demon-hunting Era was orchestrated by the human deities.”
“It’s just a hypothesis. Even if it’s true, only a part of the evil human deities were behind it.” Kaslana shook her head, “Not all the deities were hostile to the demon hunters, like the Dawn God of the human race, the Lord of Light, and many other benevolent deities. During that era, they issued divine oracles to protect the demon hunters.
Otherwise, why would there still be demon hunters in this era? If not for the protection of the deities, the demon hunters’ lineage would have long ceased to exist.”
“Huh, Sister Caslana, that’s not the main reason why the demon hunters survived till today, is it?” Muria sneered, “The demon hunters have survived because those who hide their faces and besiege them feared and dreaded the possibility of the demon hunters turning and becoming Heaven’s Wrath Knights.”
The primary reason for the end of the Demon-hunting Era was the first restriction the saints set on the Demon Hunter Armor: Demon hunters cannot raise their swords against their own kind. If they have thoughts of attacking the human race, the armor will disassemble itself.
Without the Demon Hunter Armor, even if a knight has far superior qualities compared to their peers, they’re far more outstanding than the average human. Under the same conditions, an average human would stand no chance against them, even in a five-to-one scenario.
However, those who participated in the siege of the demon hunters were more than five people. Those rulers who felt that the demon hunters hindered their pursuit of eternal life, dispatched armies directly to encircle and slaughter them.
So the demon hunters, who made demons, evil creatures, dragons, and the dark races terrified, fell one by one at the hands of their kind, whom they fought so hard to protect.
The backbone that allowed mankind to stand tall, to look squarely at, even looking down on other races, was forcibly broken by them. The human race is still unable to lift its head in front of those naturally powerful other races.
How ridiculous? How tragic?
If the saints hadn’t set up this restriction on the Demon Hunter Armor, the era of the demon hunters would never have ended. Even if the deities had complaints about them, so what? In the process of leading the human race to rise, haven’t the demon hunters slashed enough avatars of alien evil gods?
But unfortunately, there are no what ifs in this world. Such a restriction exists on the Demon Hunter Armor, which becomes the fatal shortcoming for the demon hunters.
What the saint didn’t anticipate is that the knights who wore the Demon Hunter Armor would be worshipped as deities by humans. The armor, in turn, became the embodiment of faith born from this worship and engendered an independent will over the long years.
So when those faceless alums used vulgar means to deal with the demon hunters, their filthy tactics completely shattered some knights’ deep-seated beliefs.
Wives defiled, children impaled with a long spear, parents murdered… Many demon hunters who have witnessed the darkness of human nature turned dark instantly.
The Demon Hunter Armor they wear also tarnished along with them. The armors have their own souls and thoughts. They are in harmony with the knights’ will and they, too, make their own choices.
As a result, a nightmare for the human race appeared. They created the most terrifying existence, the demon hunter who broke free from their shackles – Heaven’s Wrath Knight. They no longer hunted monsters or protected humans. Instead, they chose to seek revenge and erase all humans who betrayed them.
When the Demon Hunter, possessing the strength of a lone dragon slayer, turned blackened and directed his blade against the Human Race those rulers yearning for eternal life experienced the fear and helplessness once felt by the non-human monsters and Dark Races when they confronted Demon Hunters.
The first unrestricted Legendary Level Heaven’s Wrath Knight brought about the destruction of a human kingdom, announcing his existence to the world. Then, in succession, under the siege of the Human Race, seventeen more Legendary Level Heaven’s Wrath Knights were born.
A total of eighteen Legendary Level Heaven’s Wrath Knights shattered human kingdoms.
Nearly half a hundred human kingdoms were destroyed, their ruling classes annihilated by the Wrath Knights. The legends of humanity were powerless under the fully unleashed Wrath Knights. The battle between humans and Demon Hunters could only be described as the utter defeat of the former.
This was the largest civil war in the history of the Human Race, with the flames of the war spreading across every continent, affecting countless nations and lives. However, all other races were just spectators, with none foolishly participating in this battle.
After this civil war, the expansion of the Human Race was severely curtailed, its territories drastically reduced. However, due to the existence of numerous divine Human spirits above the Sky Dome, the Human Race was not crippled, though greatly weakened, it remained a force to be reckoned with.
The eighteen Legendary Level Heaven’s Wrath Knights, having slaughtered the human ruling class and bathed human kingdoms in blood, finally aroused the anger of the gods. Countless deities sent their avatars into battle to stop the massacre by the Wrath Knights.
This final battle signified the end of the demon-hunting era for the Human Race, with the blackened Demon Hunters confronting the Divine Incarnations of various human deities.
The result of the battle was the victory of the divine side. No matter how powerful the humans were, they could not outlast the gods, who had a divine kingdom as their support.
The eighteen Demon Hunters fought for nine days and nights against hundreds of human divine incarnations, and were eventually defeated due to exhaustion. They were sealed in various places around the world by the gods. The specific locations of the seals were known only to the gods who participated in the sealing.
After this battle, the surviving rulers dared not continue their massacre of the remaining Demon Hunters. One more Legendary Level Heaven’s Wrath Knight would bring about the collapse of several kingdoms.
Even so, the original three thousand Demon Hunters were reduced by a factor of ten after this betrayal. Many of them turned black, abandoned their duty as Demon Hunters, became Heaven’s Wrath Knights, left the human kingdoms, entered the wilderness, and brought with them similarly corrupted Demon Hunter armors.
The Demon Hunters, who had once suppressed and deterred others during the later phase of the Dark Era and the early phase of the Demon-hunting Era, vigilantly guarding the Human Race, had completely fallen. They nearly disappeared from the Human Race, as the remaining uncorrupted Demon Hunters were too few.
“The worry of Demon Hunters falling and becoming Heaven’s Wrath Knights is indeed one reason why the Demon Hunter lineage can carry on.” Kaslana nodded and agreed with Muria.
“Speaking of which, I really do pity the current Demon Hunters. Slaying humans who have fallen into monsters is their right. But the Demon Hunter who killed Marquis Mendoza had to hide his face and tracks after accomplishing his duty. He couldn’t allow others to discover his true identity.”
“Little brother Muria, let me tell you, humans are very complex creatures. Unless absolutely necessary, you should avoid making human friends casually. Sometimes, interactions with humans can leave you feeling disgusted. But of course, at times, you also get to experience some surprises.”
“I think, the Demon Hunter who showed up in Valiant is worth getting to know.”
