Chapter 190 - 190 185 Demon Hunter Knight
Chapter 190: Chapter 185: Demon Hunter Knight Chapter 190: Chapter 185: Demon Hunter Knight “So, are you in search for a Demon Hunting Knight?” Kaslana asked Muria, her large eyes blinking.
“The pride of the Human Race, it’s indeed something I’d like to see.”
“What a coincidence, I’m also searching for this Demon Hunting Knight.”
“What are you planning?” Muria asked, furrowing his brows.
“To protect the budding Demon Hunting Knight. He stirred quite a commotion this time.”
“Protect?” Muria’s face twisted in a bitter sneer, “Are humans trying to persecute the Demon Hunter, again?”
“That’s what I’ve heard.”
“A set of idiots, aren’t they afraid of pushing the Demon Hunting Knight into the abyss of darkness?”
…
In the era when the human race just started to rise and establish city-states, numerous dark races such as the Five-colored Evil Dragons, Giant Demons, Vampires, Werewolves, and many others treated humans as food, freely hunting and consuming them.
Devils from Hell and demons from the Abyss coveted human souls. While the souls of humans were tiny, their sheer volume alongside their weakness made them easy targets.
During that time, human cities often got destroyed by Evil Dragons, reduced to ruins…
Some cities fell to attacks of werewolves or vampires, with all the people in the city captured and turned into food…
Entire cities were used as sacrificial grounds, hundreds of thousands of humans used as offerings to demons…
That was an extremely dark age for humans, who struggled for survival like ants. The strongest among humans were akin to a joke in front of non-human races. They could only resist monsters and dark races with higher ranks, while Soul Intent countered Gold, Gold countered Silver.
When they faced non-human monsters and dark races of the same rank, humans had no choice but to succumb. They were powerless—strong humans were nothing but a joke. A series of failures had almost shattered the collective confidence of the human race.
In fact, many human cities began circulating the belief that humans were merely inferior, weak creatures born to serve other species. They were merely food.
For the Human Race, it was an unbearably dark era.
But, luckily, in this era, a sage emerged amongst humans. He was inspired to think: If one’s own efforts couldn’t confront monsters, external aids could be used to boost and strengthen, to bestow humans with the power to confront non-human monsters and the dark races.
Thus, he proposed the Demon-hunting Plan, but regrettably, not many city-state rulers supported this plan at the time.
Despite this, the sage did not give up. Using his prestige, he gathered a group of alchemists, pooled their wisdom, utilized limited resources, and began researching a type of armor—a type of armor that would significantly amplify the user’s strength based on their original combat prowess.
He also gathered all the strong individuals willing to guard their own kind, selected the finest among them, then granted them the first-generation armor which was researched and manufactured. Thus, the first Demon Hunting Knights of the Human Race were born.
The duty of the Demon Hunting Knights was to protect the Human Race from the onslaught of all non-human entities.
The very first Demon Hunting Knights were not very strong. They were still weak and there were many powerful monsters who could easily slaughter them. But, what set them apart was that they could confront somewhat weaker dark races, for example, werewolves, vampires.
Their emergence proved one thing, humans weren’t weak. They could vanquish and confront those non-human monsters and dark races, given equal ranks.
In this dark age, the appearance of Demon Hunting Knights was like a flicker in the dark, showing a glimmer of hope for a brighter future to the hopeless humans.
Thus, some human city-lords began acknowledging the Demon-hunting Plan and provided human and material support. Meanwhile, increasing numbers of mages and alchemists voluntarily joined the Demon-hunting Plan chaired by the sage after hearing about it.
They began researching more powerful Demon Hunter Armors to further augment the combat prowess of the Demon Hunting Knights. Then, with the birth of the second-generation Demon Hunting Knights, these fighters had become more powerful and capable of hunting lower-level demons and confronting mid-tier Blood Clans and werewolves.
The tiny glimmering light had amplified into a brighter spark. When the tales of the second-generation Demon Hunting Knights slaying the Blood Clan and killing demons began to spread.
The entire human race began to feel exhilarated. More and more city-lords began supporting the Demon-hunting Plan. The resources of the human race in the era of city-states began to tilt towards the sage’s Demon-hunting Plan, and countless elite humans joined the Demon-hunting Plan to research stronger Demon Hunter Armors.
The third generation, fourth…sixth…eighth… Each subsequent generation of Demon Hunter Armors was stronger than the previous one.
Similarly, they started to select candidates from the entire human race, and the knights who put on the Demon Hunter Armor became more and more outstanding. Therefore, the combat power they could exert after putting on the Armor became more significant.
Of course, many things happened amidst this process that nearly ended the Demon-hunting Plan multiple times or caused its suspension. For instance, when the dark races issued combined warnings sensing the danger— threats of eradicating the human race if the Demon-hunting Plan was not suspended—such bosh.
However, under the shelter of the ever-aging sage and some human forces, the Demon-hunting Plan never ceased; it always persevered.
Later, after some incidents, due to the sage’s certain considerations and the requests from human rulers, two restrictions were placed on all the Demon-hunting Armors.
The first, all Demon Hunting Knights could not attack their kind. If there were any intentions to attack their race, the Armor would automatically fall off.
The second, only a pure-blooded human truly possessing the Knight’s Eight Virtues could wear the Armor…
In the late dark ages of humans, the Ninth Generation Demon Hunter Armor, which assembled all human wisdom, was born.
The spark turned into a raging fire that could incite a prairie fire.
On that day, the Knight wearing the Ninth-generation Demon-hunting Armor became the persistent nightmare of non-human monsters and dark races.
For, Ninth-generation Demon Hunting Knights had the most terrifying combat strength in human history—they could slaughter dragons single-handedly.
The first battle with a Ninth-generation Demon Hunting Knight saw the solo slaying of a Red Dragon intent on ravaging a human city, and this came to be seen as one of the Demon Hunting Knight’s sign of combat strength.
From that day on, humans ended the despair and repression of the dark ages. Humans ceased to fear those powerful monsters, for they had the strongest Demon Hunting Knights.
From that day on, under the guardianship of the Demon Hunting Knights, humans started to establish kingdoms, and embarked on a course of expansion, and the human race gradually rose to power.
Under the watch of the Demon Hunting Knights, the dark races became just that—dwelling in darkness. They were forced to hide underground or within human cities, evading the hunt of Demon Hunting Knights.
Numerous Evil Dragons began to keep distance from human cities, countless monsters began to voluntarily migrate; with the presence of Demon Hunting Knights, humans were no longer weak, vulnerable prey.
