Chapter 179 - 179 174 Taking Action
Chapter 179: Chapter 174: Taking Action Chapter 179: Chapter 174: Taking Action A gust of wind blew across the square in front of the temple, lifting the black robe off Muria and revealing the magnificent armor concealed underneath.
“Hiss!” A collective gasp echoed in front of the square. The reason was none other than the blinding armor hidden under Muria’s black robe.
The exquisite design that could be deemed perfect, along with the heavy spirit light covering it, all proclaimed that it was a highly precious and immensely powerful extraordinary armor.
“Your gold!” Seeing the dazed boy before him, Muria once again extended his hand and reminded him verbally.
Seeing the warm smile on Muria’s face, the boy Solon’s emotions collapsed at that moment. Large tears fell from his eyes, releasing all the earlier repression at once.
He and his sister were orphans without a father and mother to look after them. If they died, no one would even collect their bodies. Just like ground mice, they hid in slums, surviving on leftover food scraps, gradually growing older.
At the age of seven, Solon’s nimble hands caught the eye of a city thief leader, and he was trained as a thief. He had no other choice. If he didn’t steal, he would starve.
So, from that day, he has been subjected to various insults and abuse, day after day for years. The better his stealing skills got, the more the number of people who insulted him increased, even his peers out of jealousy began to target his orphaned background, hurling offensive words at him.
Initially, some people would insult his sister, but Solon could tolerate insults against himself, but not his sister. So, anyone who dared to insult his sister would have Solon retaliate fearlessly.
Later, when he was a little older, he learned stealth and hunting, and then started earning money by hunting low-tier monsters outside the city. He didn’t want to be a thief, didn’t want to rely on stealing for a living.
However, the city people had a fixed impression of him. Everyone still considered him a thief living off of stealing. In addition, due to spending money on his sister’s treatment, he had no money to move out of the slum. Hence, he still endured countless taunts and discriminatory gazes every day. But, he didn’t care!
Because, the sixteen-year-old boy had already gotten used to being insulted. So when several guards berated him, he ignored them very easily.
However, while he had become accustomed to the struggles the world brought him and the indifference of others, he was not accustomed to the warmth of a stranger.
So, when Muria spoke, it entirely shattered the facade the boy had constructed of himself in this otherwise, indifferent world.
“Sir!” The boy stuttered, bowing heavily to Muria, his forehead landing hard on the ground, “Please save my sister, she really can’t hold on any longer. I cannot lose her, she is my only family.”
Muria listened to the sound of the boy’s forehead hitting the ground, his indifferent golden eyes showed a ripple, and the corner of his mouth showed a hint of a smile. He looked down at the boy who was prostrating and begging to him:
“If I were to help, what can you offer in return?”
“Everything I have!” The boy paused, then raised his head, straightened his back, looked at Muria with his gaze unwavering.
“Everything?” The smile on Muria’s face grew larger, “What if I say that I would have to take your life in exchange for saving your sister, would you still agree?”
“…” The boy was silent, his gaze shifting to his sister lying on the ground, barely breathing.
“Brother, no.” Upon hearing Muria’s words, the girl tormented by the illness slowly opened her lifeless grey eyes.
“Sir, could you give me ten years? After ten years, you can take my life.”
“Oh? And why is that?”
“If I die now, there will be no one to take care of my sister. She doesn’t know anything, nobody will protect her, she will get bullied.”
“You were hesitating about this just now?” Muria looked surprised.
“…” The boy lowered his head and bowed again, “Please, sir, save my sister.”
“Ha ha!” Muria revealed a bright smile on his face, finally, there was some decent scenery in this city.
“Okay, I’ve saved your sister,” he said.
“Your Excellency!” One of the temple guards interjected, “He’s a lowly thief, not worth your intervention. Not executing such a rogue is already an act of our mercy.”
Another temple guard chimed in, his face filled with distaste as he eyed the girl lying on the ground, “They live in the slums, all sorts of people there, and the curse on this girl, ha, who knows if she contracted it doing unseemly business?”
Upon hearing this, the young lad Solon, knelt on the ground, raised his head, his eyes instantly filled with rage. He removed a dagger from his clothing, ready to stab the guard who just spouted such vile words.
But
“Bang!” “Boom!” Hardly getting up, Solon saw the two guards slapped away by Muria. They flew off, tracing two arcs in the air, and then violently smashed into the temple’s relief sculptures.
“Did I permit you to speak?” Muria turned around, eyeing the temple guards he’d slapped into bloody pulps.
“Whoa!” Upon seeing Muria’s attack on the guards, the surrounding crowd erupted into an uproar. Someone daring to attack temple guards, it was simply unthinkable.
“Bastard!” After seeing Muria’s actions, the remaining six guards drew their long swords, pointing at Muria. “Do you know what you are doing?”
“Just teaching two noisy fellows a lesson.”
“You insolent fool, we are guards of the Dawn God’s temple, do you know the consequences of attacking us?”
“Oh!” Muria’s face was expressionless, “I honestly don’t know what consequences could occur!”
“He’s trying to help this thief, he must also be an evildoer!” The guard who had just insulted the boy shouted. Then he threw a divine spell at Muria: Faction Detection.
Then, a dazzling golden light erupted from Muria, like a golden sun striking the earth.
“What a joke!” Staring at the golden light emanating from Muria, one of the temple guards’ features slackened. They knew more than anyone else, the representation of golden light under Faction Detection, it represented the Lawful Good Alignment.
However, such intense spirit light, it was just too exaggerated. A saint reborn? Or a True God descending? It was simply unbelievable.
“Done with your check?” Muria, looking at the rich golden light spreading on his body, displayed an impatient expression.
“Don’t be careless, it must be fake. How could there be such an intense spirit light, bright as the sun?” said the same guard again.
“Idiot!” Muria couldn’t help but mutter under his breath. Then, with a flick of his hand, he slapped the guard into unconsciousness.
This time, after Muria took action, the remaining temple guards looked at each other, and no one seemed to have the intention to draw their weapons. The result of the Faction Detection had truly shocked them.
“Hmm!” Muria crouched down in front of the girl, gave her a quick check, then drew a blank. Engaging in a fight, he could do that anytime, but saving the sick, that was really not his specialty.
So, Muria turned his gaze towards the young Solon, “Are you sure the priest in this temple can cure your sister’s curse?”
“Certain!” the boy nodded firmly.
“Go, call out the highest-ranking priest in your temple for me!” Muria ordered the four standing guards.
