King of Titans and Dragons
Chapter 178 - 178 173 Discrimination

Chapter 178: Chapter 173: Discrimination Chapter 178: Chapter 173: Discrimination “This temple district… is truly extravagant.” Múria, riding atop a Giant Wolf, meandered through the central city area, admiring the surrounding temples that were awe-inspiring and luxurious, covered in divine light, inducing a sense of calm within people.

In front of him, the vast and majestic temples stood in stark contrast with the dirty, disordered, and decrepit slums at the city’s periphery, and the shabby low-rise commoner districts. In Múria’s eyes, there was a strong sense of irony.

Seeing the divine light pouring out from the temples, Múria inferred that these temples were dedicated to deities of the Lawful Good Alignment.

“Deities, huh!” Looking at those majestic but also finely detailed groups of temples around him, a smirk appeared on his face.

“Well, it’s only natural. If these temples were as dilapidated as the residences on the outskirts, that’s when it would be strange. After all, these are places to worship prestigious deities and naturally, they should be at their best.”

“Please…” “Brother, don’t…”

Just as he said this, faint crying and murmuring voices could be heard, drawing Múria’s attention, who was preparing to head to the tavern to inquire about the Giant Dragon.

Following the sound, the boy saw a sizable crowd convening in front of a grand temple that stood out even amongst the other temples in the district. Were they here to watch some spectacle?

“Is something happening? Let’s go, let’s see.” Múria patted the Giant Wolf beneath him. Having just entered the human city, he was curious about everything; everything here was completely different from his past life. Therefore, seeing a hustle and bustle, Múria naturally wanted to join in to see what was going on.

“Clip!” “Clop!” As Múria drew closer to the scene on his Giant Wolf, the watching crowd naturally created a spacious area for Múria, enabling him to see everything happening in front of the temple unobstructedly.

A ragged-looking young boy was kneeling on the ground, ceaselessly kowtowing. Beside him was a young girl, clad in a thick, ragged robe showing only her face, lying on one side, emitting a nauseating stench.

Upon seeing the girl lying on the ground, Múria was taken aback. The girl’s face was horrifying. What should have been a tender, youthful, and soft white complexion was marred with widespread sores, rendering her once beautiful face grotesquely ugly.

In front of the kneeling boy were four imposing temple guards, dressed in silver light armor. They were watching the boy indifferently, continuously kowtowing. Nearby, four other temple guards were standing at a distance, their faces bearing a hint of sympathy, yet they did nothing to prevent their peers from verbally abusing the boy.

“Go back to your slums, you filthy thief.” One of the guards chided.

“But if my sister doesn’t receive treatment soon, she won’t hold on any longer. Sir, I beg you, let me in!” The boy continued to kowtow, pleading desperately.

“A thief trying to step into the great temple of the Master of Dawn? Ha, letting you in would be a desecration to the deity.”

“Moreover, even if you walk in, no priest will help to cure the sister of an evil doer.”

“Thief, get out of the way and don’t block the temple’s doorway.”

The boy’s pleas did not stir the slightest bit of compassion in the four temple guards; instead, they met his pleas with more reprimands.

“I may be an evil thief, but my sister hasn’t done anything wrong. She’s innocent, please save her.”

The boy was still kneeling on the ground, pleading with the guards. He was indifferent to their insults.

“Whether she’s innocent or not isn’t for you to decide.” One of the guards scoffed. Then, a divine magic light ignited in his hand: Detect Evil. He cast it on the girl lying on the ground. Subsequently, a transparent spirit light enveloped her.

“Absolute neutrality!” Seeing the response on the girl who had half her face skin rotted away, the guard who had unleashed the detection divine art was surprised. He had expected it to be the red light of evil spirits.

“Sir, can you let my sister in?” The boy whose forehead was already bleeding asked with a trace of hope in his eyes as he saw the transparent spirit light on his sister.

“Sorry, but the Great Master of Dawn is a benevolent deity. His temple is only for beings belonging to the realm of kindness, you two cannot enter.”

“Sir, please, I beg you.” The boy’s eyes were brimming with unshed tears, he seemed to recall something, pulling out a bulging bag from his bosom, “I have money, I am willing to donate it all to the temple as long as my sister can be cured.”

Upon hearing the clattering sound of coins, the temple guard glanced at the crowd, paused on Muria for a few moments, then let his gaze fall on the money bag held in both hands of the boy. A trace of annoyance showed on his face.

“Bam!” The guard kicked at the boy’s hands. With a faint sound of broken bones and the boy’s stifled cry of pain, the money bag flew high, then, “Clink! Clink! Clink…”

The coins in the bag spilled out and reflected a tantalizing gleam under the sun. They then landed on the clean and tidy ground, producing a crisp and melodious collision sound.

Shiny silver coins, golden copper coins were strewn all over the ground, among them, were even over a dozen of gold coins outshining the rest…

A small portion of the coins scattered into the crowd, causing a bit of a scramble and commotion. Many people were eyeing the coins ahead with greed and itching to move, but they all went quiet at the sight of the eight temple guards.

Muria bent down, seeing a coin at the foot of the Giant Wolf that was emitting an enviable gleam. It was a gold coin, but none of the onlookers dared to seize it.

At this point, the temple guard who had kicked the money bag and broken the boy’s hand in the process spoke righteously, “Thief, do not sully us with your ill-gotten wealth. No priest in the temple will accept your money. Take your sister and scram.”

“I didn’t steal this money. I earned these coins by hunting monsters outside the city,” the boy argued in a low voice.

“Huh, enough with your sophistry. Those hands of yours… only thieves have hands like those. You even dare to lie in the face of the deity.”

“Damn it, why does this guy look down us so much?” At this moment, a young adventurer beside Muria cursed under his breath, “The money was honestly earned by Solon.”

“You know him?” Muria looked at the adventurer who had spoken out.

“Ah, sir, I know him, he is …”

“Alright, there’s no need for further explanation.”

“Step!” Having confirmed something, Muria, riding on the back of the Giant Wolf, dismounted without hesitation. The heavy landing sound of his metal boots drew everyone’s attention.

For, Muria was special, appeared no more than twelve years old with black hair and golden pupils – beautiful beyond humanly possible. No hint of Qi emanated from him.

He seemed like just a handsome human boy, but anyone with half a brain would know that Muria was a formidable warrior simply judging by the Giant Wolf that he was riding.

Under everyone’s gaze, the black-haired boy with golden pupils bent down, picked up the gold coin that had fallen at the foot of the Giant Wolf, then walked up to the boy lying on the ground, and extended his hand:

“You dropped your money!”

The boy lying on the ground looked at the palm extended towards him, holding a slightly dusty gold coin. Then, he slowly raised his head, looking up at Muria’s face that was so handsome it made him feel inadequate. On it, was a hint of a gentle smile, as warm as spring sunshine.
