Chapter 1401: Chapter 1368: Powerful Divine Forces_2 Chapter 1401: Chapter 1368: Powerful Divine Forces_2 “Your Highness, may I have some time to think it over? Such a matter has too great an impact on me, and I am unable to respond right away,” the King of the Wind Elves said, attempting a probe without any expectation.
“Strictly speaking, I should not grant you any time, but who would blame me for being generous at heart? Tell me, how much time do you need to deliberate?”
“???” Such gentle words immediately put the King of the Wind on high alert. When something is amiss, there’s a demon at work; this deity who had barged into His domain in such a brazen manner was now surprisingly easy to talk to, which certainly meant trouble.
“Ten years?” After careful consideration, the King of the Wind Elves cautiously proposed a number that was not exaggerated for a deity.
“Hmm, acceptable.” This excessive request was readily agreed to by Muria, who then seemed to propose a condition in exchange,
“Since you need ten years to ponder my proposal, you presumably won’t have time to manage your affairs. Then let me take over the domain assigned to you at the assembly of gods!”
Exposed, upon hearing Muria speak such shamelessly brazen words, the true form of the King of the Wind went berserk within His own Divine Kingdom. He had to release the pent-up frustration that He had been holding back until now. Otherwise, He feared He might do something rash.
“…” But facing Muria’s Divine Incarnation, He naturally remained silent. How was He to respond to such words? Was He supposed to agree? What a joke!
Given this being’s unscrupulous nature, what would be left of Him after ten years?
But to refuse, He didn’t dare speak out. He simply had no choice. Submission or downfall! Two paths, one choice; no opportunity to procrastinate for a chance of turning the tables.
“It seems you’re not pleased with my proposal. So make your decision now.”
Muria revealed a amiable smile, appearing cultured and approachable, but the surroundings of completely still gray domain clash starkly with the expression on His face at the time.
“By the way, don’t make me wait too long; I am not a patient being,” Muria reminded once more.
“…It’s not enough!” After a long silence, the King of the Wind Elves replied.
“What is not enough?”
“I wish to witness Your true power. If You can enter my Divine Kingdom and find my true form before the sun sets in the sky, I will consent to become Your subordinate god.”
With one last act of defiance, the King of the Wind Elves set His condition for becoming a Subordinate God.
Muria, upon hearing this, chuckled and clapped. The deity’s intention was clear: Conquer me with pure force or I will refuse submission, opting to resist to the very end.
It was a last act of desperation, a test as well. Should Muria fail to display overwhelming force, He could simply leave.
For Muria, such a challenge was most welcome; conquest through pure force was precisely what He desired, for such conquests provided the most secure grip on power.
“Agreed, I accept!”
Muria laughed loudly and then, in the gaze of the Wind Elf King’s Avatar, transformed into a towering Giant God and with a sweep of His hand, crushed the Avatar as though squashing a mosquito.
Thereafter, the colossal Deity, now grown to five thousand meters, took a stride on what was to Him not so vast a world.
Majestic rocky mountains, mist-wreathed lakes, the mighty river spanning countless miles—natural wonders filled with the mysterious essence of creation were all bypassed in a single step by the powerful Divine Being, left thousands of miles behind in mere moments.
The distance a deity could cover in one step was more than some flying beasts could traverse in three days and nights of relentless flight until utterly exhausted.
Such a terrifying speed of movement, coupled with the Deity’s immense stature, should have stirred up hurricanes that could sweep through the entire domain, but those natural disasters, born from His movement, were suppressed the moment they manifested by this very existence.
Even the earth bore no footprints of His passage, as if the colossal and towering divine form of Muria was but a powerfully impactful illusion.
In fact, to those weak mortal beings, Muria, not being in the same space as them, wasn’t much different from a phantom.
…
“It’s no wonder He’s a younger deity. After obtaining the power of the Undead Emperor, He immediately became more vigorous. The young deities always have more energy than us old folks shrouded in death Qi.”
“It seems you are quite optimistic about this young successor, but I am filled with worry because I see in Him an endless greed.”
“Young successors, well, isn’t such a mentality quite normal? Back when we had just become deities, weren’t we the same, desiring to expand our divine power as much as possible while also acquiring more divine tasks?”
“But we were soon contented after we realized the harshness of the world. However, with this one, I do not see any signs of satisfaction. He seems to only know how to endlessly take.”
“So, Lord of Paleness, what are you worried about?”
“I worry that one day in the future, this young successor will cast His greedy eyes upon us and swing His sword in our direction.”
“A pointless worry. Is a sword only in the hands of the younger ones? We have them too. If He dares to set His sights on us, then we shall teach Him how to properly be a successor.”
“No, it’s not a meaningless worry. Haven’t you noticed? Isn’t the rate at which this successor is gaining strength a bit too excessive? In a short time, He has already caught up with the accomplishments we’ve made in the past hundreds of thousands of years.”
“That’s because He has inherited everything from the Undead Emperor—it’s normal to have such power.”
“No, it’s not normal. I still can’t figure out why our old friend fell to this successor. Even though his divine tasks were no longer his, his power wasn’t diminished in the slightest. If it were so easy, this successor wouldn’t have had the chance to take advantage of it.”
“So you suspect that there are other forces supporting Him?”
“That’s one possibility, but I hadn’t imagined it. I suspect that this entity has hidden part of His power. Moreover, He had already concealed that part before attending the meeting of the gods.”
“That’s impossible, isn’t it? He understands the purpose of the meeting of the gods. How much would He lose by hiding his power?”
“That doesn’t matter. The benefits He would gain from hiding His strength far outweigh the losses. Once He has done all He wanted, His losses will return as tens or hundreds of times the profits.”
“Then both possibilities exist. Lord of Ten Thousand Mountains seems to be the one who knows the most about this life’s existence—too bad I’ve tested Him, and He refuses to divulge any information.”
“Nevermind Him; you know what He’s like. His vision is always limited to His own domain, every day He thinks about reclaiming the divine power scattered in the hands of His offspring.”
“Speaking of the Lord of Ten Thousand Mountains, I recall a few interesting rumors.”
“What? Let’s hear them.”
“One of the daughters of the Lord of Ten Thousand Mountains is seeking allies everywhere, trying to kill her father and take his place.”
“Hahaha, that is indeed amusing. But the Lord of Ten Thousand Mountains is also interesting, to manage to have such a relationship with his direct descendants.”
“That’s not the most amusing part. The goddess who wishes to murder her father seems to have once entered the Divine Palace of our newly risen ruler of death and stayed for a long time. If I’m not mistaken, they might have already forged an alliance.”
“Now that is truly interesting!”
