Chapter 120 - 120 115 Thorns
Chapter 120: Chapter 115: Thorns Chapter 120: Chapter 115: Thorns The petite elf was in a gruesome fight with a monstrous beast using the complex terrain of the Abyss Training Ground. Evading the mighty ferocious attacks of the Blood Lion Demon, she occasionally drew her longbow, launching a silvery arrow that exploded deep bloody holes on the beast’s blood-red body.
The massive lion was covered in scarlet fur, and menacing bony spikes protruded under the dense hair at its joints, covering some critical areas; at the same time, they served as weapons in close combat.
“Roar!” The Blood Lion Demon howled, the visible sound waves waving outwards. Some nearby rubble vaporised into powder due to the vibration. The elf girl, Hesel, who had been darting around the demon on the rough terrain, stumbled slightly, and her movement paused momentarily.
Seeing this, the massive body of the Blood Demon Lion, surprisingly agile, transformed into a blood shadow and charged towards the hill where Hesel was standing. “Boom!” The small hill Hesel was standing on collapsed, and the Blood Lion Demon lay among the rubble, growling in annoyance.
The pungent saliva dripped from the fangs of the Blood Lion Demon, corroding the rocks beneath its feet, already soaked in blood, into fizzing sound. However, the elf girl had adeptly escaped before it pounced on the little hill.
“Whoosh!” A radiant silver arc was fired, striking the Blood Lion Demon, “Bang!” The arrow exploded creating a bloody pit that exposed bones and organs. Flesh and bony spikes were scattered. Under the sting of pain, the Blood Lion Demon roared angrily, its blood-red lion eyes filled with rage glaring at the tiny distant elf.
However, the Blood Lion Demon, smeared in a mixture of fresh bloody smell and a faint sultry scent of sulfur, did not, in its fury, mindlessly attack. Instead, it strolled over to a pile of demon corpses, lowered its head, bit, chewed, swallowed.
Yes, this Blood Lion Demon was devouring demon carcasses. The elf girl’s initial arrow had killed countless low-ranking demons, leaving their corpses around. And, the Blood Lion Demon just happened to be a type of monster that enjoyed devouring demons.
“Crunch!” The sound of bones being crunched echoed out of the Blood Lion Demon’s mouth. Its fangs dripped black demonic blood, which flowed out as it swallowed. The bloody holes in its body, which were already healing at a visible pace, started to recover even more quickly as its muscle tissues regenerated.
“Evil creature.” The elf girl murmured, her disgust was evident with a hint of helplessness. Arrows that could injure the Blood Lion Demon required a build-up period and could not be launched at will.
The attack that was potent enough to annihilate the Centaur Demon in one strike required more preparation. Without Muria guarding her, prepping for that attack would be suicidal. Perhaps the arrow she was forming would not even be complete before she was torn to shreds by the Blood Lion Demon.
“Roar!” At that moment, the Blood Lion Demon noticed Muria, who had just vanquished the Six-armed Serpent Demon, shooting a glance its way. The Beast looked at Muria with reluctance, then glanced at the elf girl, its paws tentatively retreating. It was planning to escape.
“Such a scaredy-cat.” Muria giggled, watching the slowly retreating Blood Lion Demon with no intention of hindrance. Just silently standing there, observing.
At the side, once the Blood Lion Demon’s attention was drawn by Muria, the elf girl swiftly pulled out an arrow from her space bracelet. An unremarkable wooden arrow, etched with spirit runes similar to those on her wooden bow.
The moment the Blood Demon Lion focused on Muria and started to retreat, the elf girl already had her wooden arrow fitted on her longbow, the bow drawn into a full moon, pointing at the Blood Lion Demon.
“Roar!” Just as the wooden arrow was aimed at the Blood Lion Demon, the Beast reacted. Its fluffy blood-red mane puffed up and a deadly sense of danger emerged. It turned its head, its crimson eyes looking at the elf, its massive mouth wide open, howling at her.
“Splatter!” Blood splashed as a green burst of light shot through one eye of the Blood Lion Demon, going straight into its skull.
“Roar!” The voice that shook the field immediately turned into a pitiful howl. The Blood Lion Demon’s huge body began to roll on the ground after being hit with this arrow. Even though its head had been pierced, it still had the strength to struggle before dying.
But a shocking scene occurred as the Blood Lion Demon’s originally robust muscles shrunk at a visible speed. The power of the beast’s struggle changed quickly, and soon it couldn’t move at all.
Its blood-red fur turned dull, and the jagged bone spikes shining with a metallic luster over its body quickly turned pale. It was as if an incredibly overbearing entity in the Blood Lion Demon’s body was devouring its life essence.
“What is that?” Muria looked at the beast with a somewhat stern expression. The muscular, burly monster had turned into an emaciated skeletal beast in a short time, its vitality dissipating at a terrifying speed.
Then, Muria’s question was answered. Thorns with hooks extended from the hollows of the Blood Lion Demon’s eye sockets, quickly wrapping up the remains of the demon, which had already shrunk to be a mere skeleton.
“Crack! Crack!” The sour sound of bones breaking reached Muria’s ears. At the location where the Blood Lion Demon had fallen, a cluster of thorns teeming with vitality spread recklessly.
The remains of the Blood Lion Demon had been “eaten” by these thorns, bones and all.
“This…” The elf girl froze at the sight of this domineering and cruel scene. She looked somewhat blankly at Muria, “I didn’t know that firing this arrow would result in this. It’s my first time using this arrow…”
“Mhm, I know.” Muria cast a spell, transforming into a black-haired, golden-pupiled ten-year-old child. He landed next to Hesel on a gust of wind and observed the thorns, which were still spreading and consuming the nearby demon corpses.
“It’s all over now.” Muria comforted the somewhat uneasy elf, “It’s fine. You were just startled by the effect of your arrow. The way it attacks doesn’t align with your nature.”
“This is an arrow the elder gave to me a long time ago, he said it was for my self-defense.” The elf girl looked at Muria with tears in her eyes, “I don’t want such an evil arrow.”
As she spoke, the elf girl took out over ten wooden arrows, about to throw them at Muria. Seeing this, Muria quickly spoke up: “Weapons don’t decide what’s good or evil, that’s determined by the user. You used this arrow to kill a demon, does that make you evil?”
“No.” Hesel shook her head.
“See? That’s it then.” Muria spread his hands, “So, I’ve witnessed the power of the elven archery. From now on, you are my archery teacher.”
“Cassio, teleport us back.” After finishing, Muria shouted into the sky.
