Chapter 1098 - 1098 1085 Stealthily... Plundering the Power

Chapter 1098: Chapter 1085: Stealthily… Plundering the Power of Epics Chapter 1098: Chapter 1085: Stealthily… Plundering the Power of Epics “No, this can’t even be considered a beginning, it can only be described as a fortuitous coincidence.”

Muria shook his head, understanding what Michaela meant. The ghostly power he now held was one of the forces differentiated from the epic that had shattered its own body centuries ago.

Michaela believed he was deliberately gathering the powers left by that epic, but in reality, it was just that a ghost, for reasons unknown, had wandered onto the Ymir Plain and happened to run into him.

“However, now that I know the origins of this affair, I do find myself interested, with a new idea in mind.”

Knowing that there might be an epic capable of resurrection at any moment in this world excited Muria.

“What idea?” Michaela asked curiously.

“What were your plans before? Or rather, what demands did your grandfather have when he arranged for your birth in this world?”

“No specific demands, but you can probably guess the general ones, to prevent the resurrection of that epic.”

“How do you plan to stop it?”

“My original plan was to purify all creatures in this world that held a significant amount of power from that epic.”

“…That’s a bit extreme.”

“It’s the only way to resolve the chaos in this world. That epic is the source of the world’s turmoil, and only by completely erasing its power can this world be restored to peace.”

“Now you have a new choice, you can listen to my idea first.”

“Hmm, go on.”

“Theoretically, if the power of the epic disappeared from this world, the chaos would end, right?”

“That’s correct.”

“Then, if we gather the power of the epic and allow it to resurrect in this world, wouldn’t we achieve the same effect?”

“Do you realize what you are saying, Muria?” Michaela called out Muria’s name directly.

“I do.” Muria grinned, “Don’t get worked up, let me finish.”

“I’m listening.”

“I once descended into the same world with my mother, and that world, for various reasons, spawned a deity without self-awareness. My mother directly stole the power of that deity, and I witnessed the whole process. I was quite envious of that.”

“So you also want to replicate what your mother did, to seize the power of the epic that has fallen in this world.”

“Exactly, that’s my idea now.”

“That’s madness, Muria, do you think that epic is weak?”

“But it doesn’t sound very strong.”

“The battle back then wasn’t just my ancestors fighting against the epic that fell in this world. There were several other epics involved too, and they were all on the same side as my ancestors. Together, they besieged it, eventually forcing the epic to disintegrate itself.”

“So, you’re saying that the epic wasn’t defeated in a one-on-one battle, but was overwhelmed and fell due to the siege?” Muria’s face, conjured from Black Mist, revealed a smile.

“Don’t you get my point?” Seeing Muria’s excited look and his eagerness to try, Michaela couldn’t help but hold her forehead, “This epic isn’t like the deity your mother stole from. He is much more powerful than you can imagine.”

“Isn’t that even better?” Muria replied, never having considered the possibility that he might fail.

“Have you not thought about the consequences of losing control?”

“I am an epic that still exists, while what I face is an epic that has already fallen, one that not only lacks self-awareness but doesn’t even have a body anymore.”

“So, you are determined to seize the power of this epic?”

“What do you mean ‘seize’? You make it sound so unpleasant. I’m talking about plundering.” Muria was somewhat displeased.

“Whatever you call it, do you really plan to go through with this?”

“Your approach is too wasteful, too conservative.”

“…” Michaela pondered for a moment, then nodded her head, “Alright, let’s do it your way.”

“You agree just like that?” Muria was taken aback, “You’re not going to persuade me further?”

“For matters you’ve already decided, what use is persuasion?” Michaela knew all too well what kind of person her husband was—the lure of another epic’s power was something he could never abandon.

“No use,” Muria laughed.

“As you plunder the power of this epic, remember to be cautious. It’s best not to let it form consciousness. You know better than I the terror of the epic’s Body of Myriad Spirits.”

“I’ll gather a small portion first, then, after it has formed some consciousness, I’ll exterminate it. This way, I can gradually consume its power step by step. What do you think?”

“That’s for you to decide.”

“Alright, but I think I must wage war, conquering all around, to collect the power of this epic.”

“Hmm, I’m already working on that.”

“By the way, I want to ask something. Did those epics who fought alongside your ancestor leave behind their bloodlines in this world?”

“Indeed, virtually every one of them left behind a portion of their power and Inheritance to suppress the revival of this epic. Otherwise, the power left by my ancestor alone wouldn’t be sufficient.”

“Understood,” Muria nodded, roughly grasping that the root of chaos in this world wasn’t entirely due to that one epic. Several epics, including Michaela’s Blazing Sky deity ancestor, bore responsibility.

Undoubtedly, after that epic had dispersed its body, it lost self-consciousness. But even disintegrated, the epic’s Body of Myriad Spirits still retained its instincts. Driven by these instincts, any Creature holding that epic’s power would spontaneously engage in slaughter and absorption.

Once absorption reached a certain extent, the epic would naturally resurrect. But those who hunted this epic in the past would never allow it to resurrect so easily and simply. They all left behind their own methods to inhibit the resurrection process of this epic.

Thus, chaos that affected the world was born. This is the battle of epics, and once it impacts the world, it can destroy the entire world’s order.

“By the way, there’s something I want to tell you. The reason I’ve offended your existence is due to an envoy corps from the Three Kingdoms of Stream Mountain appearing in my territory.”

After discussing matters related to epics, Muria redirected the conversation back to the affairs of this world, and then he explained the reason behind the presence of the demonoid body here.

“Stream Mountain Country, I know of it. What then?”

“They appeared within my territory, seemingly looking for a way out. In addition, they’ve portrayed you as an utterly wicked great demon king,” Muria shared the request for assistance from Stream Mountain Country with Michaela as if it were a joke.

When there’s an asymmetry of information, such ludicrous incidents can occur. Being omniscient and possessing a divine perspective, both Muria and Michaela could treat it as a matter of levity.

“Bullied by one’s wife, only to seek help from her husband,” Michaela couldn’t help but laugh upon hearing the reason for Muria’s appearance before her.

“Does that country have some problem? They don’t seem to control the power left behind by that epic.”

Muria was certain of this because his demonoid body was inhabiting a general he’d sent as an envoy to Stream Mountain Country. Even after parading in front of the royal family there, he hadn’t felt the same yearning to devour them as he did when he first encountered the ghoul.

“Stream Mountain Country indeed doesn’t control any power from that epic’s fragmentation. What they control is a power that has developed from the world itself, but the existence of this country is one of the root causes of chaos in this world.”

“Hmm,” Muria didn’t bother asking Michaela the foolish question of why attack Stream Mountain Country. There’s no distinction between good and evil, right and wrong among nations; attempting to classify a country as such is an extremely foolish act.

For the world, Muria and Michaela’s desire to end its fragmentation and unite all its nations under one rule was an act of justice.

“Stream Mountain Country seeks an alliance with me, should I agree to it? When the time comes on the battlefield, I could have the army turn against them, and then we can join forces to directly obliterate the country.

Or perhaps more bluntly, just flatly refuse their request for an alliance and launch an attack directly.”

“No need, just pretend to agree to the alliance for now! It could reduce some casualties,” Michaela shook her head, deciding on the method to obliterate a country.

“That makes sense. However, let your country take the main offensive in this war. My troops will assist. The nation I rule has just emerged from a state of war, and it can’t afford too much turmoil right now.”

“You’re too disappointing. After all this time, the nation you rule is still so weak.”

“Weak? What’s weak?” Muria immediately became displeased. “Do you know how weak the foundation of the nation I was born into was? For me to develop it to this stage in such a short time is already impressive. I’m not as lucky as you.”

“My luck is good?” Michaela nearly laughed out of exasperation upon hearing Muria call her lucky, and she promptly shared with Muria how she was forced to use source power after nearly being assassinated upon her birth—a conversation she could only have with him in this world.

“Cough, at least the country you were born into is much stronger than the one I was born into,” Muria consoled his wife, then shared his own experience of being forced to use source power.

“Enough of this who has it worse contest,” Michaela cut short the conversation in the end.

“Hahaha.”

“Alright, that’ll be all. The conversation I have with this avatar of yours, your true self should be able to hear it all.”

“I can hear it.”
