Chapter 1070 - 1070 1057 The Ghoul of Annihilation

Chapter 1070: Chapter 1057: The Ghoul of Annihilation Chapter 1070: Chapter 1057: The Ghoul of Annihilation “Can you please pay attention solely to the lesson?” Yunnu looked at Muria with a face full of helplessness. At that moment, Muria was enveloped in a layer of faint black and red mist-like Qi.

The appearance of this black Qi meant that Muria was currently practicing his cultivation, a phenomenon that inevitably occurred whenever a member of the Gai Royal Family was training.

“Go ahead, I’m listening,” Muria responded to his teacher, who had grown tired of being queen and had thrown in the towel. The teacher, a former queen brought in by his father, indeed had a commendable level of expertise.

After all, her abdication was due to feeling that being a queen was excruciatingly dull, not that she was incapable of handling the role. Muria found that Yunnu possessed an innate talent for insight into the human heart. She could easily infer a person’s state of mind and discern falsehoods through subtle facial expressions and unconscious gestures.

When a ruler possesses such a talent for reading hearts, the outcome can be quite frightening. But it was this very same position with its great authority and corresponding responsibilities that made the role unbearably tedious for Yunnu.

Thus, out of boredom, Yunnu unhesitatingly agreed when she received a request from Ferdinand, whom she had met unexpectedly in her youth.

In Yunnu’s expectations, this was supposed to be a trivial task, a way to pass the time, but when she actually began, she realized that it was completely different from what she had imagined.

The student whom Ferdinand had entrusted her to teach was very obedient and extremely quick to learn anything, virtually never needing a second lesson.

Any teacher would be delighted to have such a student. However, Yunnu found no joy in this because the boy never focused entirely on her lessons.

It was only during the first lesson that the young fellow paid close attention, and then, from the start of the second lesson on, Yunnu noticed that this child, named Arnold, would practice his cultivation while listening to the class.

Initially, she scolded Arnold severely, but he didn’t show any signs of submission when confronted with her reprimand. He even retorted, arguing that he didn’t need to concentrate fully to listen to her and that he could manage with just a small fraction of his attention.

When Yunnu heard Muria’s words, she was quite incensed, but Yunnu was also a “gentle” lady who wouldn’t easily resort to violence.

So after hearing Muria’s words, she didn’t lay a hand on him, but instead questioned him about the content of the lesson, and Muria answered all her questions fluently.

Yunnu, who had been ready to slightly punish Muria, was left without any recourse because, after all, he had indeed learned everything she had taught and had met her educational goals.

From then on, Yunnu kept increasing the difficulty of the course, but Muria, like a bottomless pit, simultaneously practiced his cultivation and absorbed all the knowledge she imparted.

Such talent astonished Yunnu and also left her immensely frustrated. Any teacher would be annoyed to see their student engaged in other activities while attending their class.

So when Yunnu heard Muria’s response, she was somewhat irritated but helpless because she knew that the little rascal was indeed listening to her lecture.

But while listening to her, the youngster was dual-tasking, earnestly concentrating on his cultivation as well.

After the class ended, Muria stood up and left the treehouse being used as a classroom, preparing to head to his next lesson in practical combat training.

Yunnu watched Muria’s departing back and was lost in thought, “Where is my dignity as a teacher? This can’t go on, I must think of a solution.”

At night, the thin and gauzy moonlight fell upon a few cabins in a valley. Inside one of the cabins, an ordinary-looking elder with no remarkable features, an elegantly regal and beautiful woman, and a massively muscled man sat opposite each other.

“It has been a while, how is the teaching with that little guy going?” Yunnu asked first.

“Not bad at all, whatever I teach him, he learns immediately. He’s a very smart child. Ferdinand has good judgment,” replied the old man with a chuckle.

“It’s alright,” the muscular man hesitated for a moment, scratching his bald head, then answered rather glumly. He was the iron-grey-skinned One-horned Giant.

“Good? Alright?” Yunnu scoffed, “There’s no questioning Arnold’s ability to learn. Whatever I teach him, he picks up right away. But his attitude towards learning is all wrong; he’s always cultivating during my classes.”

“But if the results are good, isn’t that what counts?” The elder, upon hearing Yunnu’s complaint, gave her a comforting smile, “Didn’t you say he learned everything you taught? If so, it’s fine if he cultivates during class.”

“You’re teaching him miscellaneous knowledge, it doesn’t matter to you what he does.” Yunnu rolled her eyes at the old man’s words, aware that what the old man had imparted to Muria was very varied: from astronomy and geography to astrology and prophecies, it covered almost everything, without any specific, detailed teaching tasks.

The old man’s teaching, rather than being called a lesson, was more like a specialized form of entertainment for relaxation.

“No matter what you learn, your own strength is the foundation,” the father said. “Once you are strong, everything else is negotiable. But without sufficient strength to back you up, knowing everything else is useless.”

The burly man watched Ann, defending Muria’s actions. He was also a believer in the supremacy of power and actually agreed with Muria’s habit of listening to the lessons while training. After all, the child had learned everything that was taught, hadn’t he?

“Moreover, you’re luckier than I am, you at least get to teach him, don’t you? I wouldn’t even know what to teach him.”

“Hmm?” Yunnu was somewhat surprised by the giant’s remark. “Didn’t you say you wanted to teach him how to fight in the midst of an army and the skill to lead troops to victory in hundreds of battles? What’s the problem with that?”

“I’ve discovered that this kid has a kind of battle talent that could be called terrifying. In terms of fighting, not only am I uncertain if I can be his teacher, I’ve found he could even teach me,” said the strongman with a troubled expression on his face.

Regarding strategy and warfare, he found himself quite redundant as the boy seemed to grasp everything just by flipping through a book, leaving him with nothing to teach.

“So, by that logic, I’m luckier than you. At least I have something I can teach him.” Comparing her situation to that of the giant, Yunnu found herself to be rather fortunate; at least Muria listened during her lessons, while the giant didn’t even have the qualifications to make Muria listen.

“Of course.”

“Since that’s the case, why do you take Arnold outside every day?” But then, Yunnu was confused again.

“Hunting, then eating,” the strong man muttered. Both he and Arnold had voracious appetites, and living in the Wild Land meant they needed to fend for themselves to satisfy their hunger.

“So every so-called lesson of yours is just taking Arnold out for special meals?” Yunnu’s expression was somewhat peculiar.

“Of course, haven’t you guys noticed that the boy is growing? His appetite is increasing by the day.”

“Do you think Ferdinand knows about this situation? If he does, then the purpose for which Ferdinand brought you here might not have been teaching at all, but to serve as his son’s personal chef,” said the old man, sizing up the strong man in front of him. The burly guy was a foodie at heart and, due to his origins, was quite particular about his food. However, his tremendous appetite was too much for many to satisfy, so he learned to fend for himself in the culinary world, where he was considered an expert.

At the old man’s speculation, the strong man’s face twitched violently, and he remained silent. Following the old man’s line of thought, the possibility seemed very high.

Time passed slowly, and Muria quietly received training from his three teachers at a location whose specifics were unknown. For him, it was quite a relaxing affair because he practically knew everything the teachers taught.

In Ferdinand’s expectations, the contents taught by these three teachers were supposed to push Muria to his limits, ensuring that Muria would have a “pleasant and wonderful” and “fulfilling” childhood.

But the reality was the opposite; in Muria’s eyes, the guidance of the three teachers was merely a means to obtain more Royal Blood Crystals. Indeed, Ferdinand had entrusted all the prepared Royal Blood Crystals to the inconspicuous old man, using them as bait to encourage Muria to study.

In truth, there was no need for such encouragement as Muria was very “obedient and compliant” in this regard, although he occasionally did things unrelated to his studies but still did not affect his learning process.

In such circumstances, the old man would regularly reward Muria with a Royal Blood Crystal, which Muria used to rapidly strengthen himself.

While Muria was enjoying his leisurely learning, in a canyon that led from the Ymir Plain to the broader outside world, vigorous Black Mist poured in from the outside world.

The tenacious plants that thrived on either side of the canyon withered instantly upon contact with the Black Mist, their life force drained in a flash.

This terrifying scene immediately alarmed the animals living on the sides of the canyon, causing them to flee frantically away from the direction of the encroaching mist.

However, the animals that could not outrun the spreading Black Mist were enveloped in an instant, their bodies shriveled as their vitality was extracted, leaving them as desiccated corpses.

Yet this was just the beginning. The lifeless husks that were drained by the Black Mist lay on the ground for a moment before shakily rising to their feet, their eyes glowing with a sinister red light.
