Chapter 1003 - 1003 990 Please I Dont Want to Train Anymore
Chapter 1003: Chapter 990: Please, I Don’t Want to Train Anymore Chapter 1003: Chapter 990: Please, I Don’t Want to Train Anymore “However, Butler Ai, I want the clan to understand one thing, I’m willing to teach Daisy because she’s my sister, so I don’t need any compensation, and I can instruct her without charge. As for the others, even though they share my surname, it seems they don’t have much to do with me.”
Muria tapped the desk in front of him, reminding the elder before him, “Of course, in these years the clan has also provided me with a fair amount of resources; if the clan intends to use part of these resources as compensation for my instruction, that would be acceptable. But in that case, when the clan assigns me tasks in the future, I shall have the right to refuse some of them.”
“Young Master Genos, you’re too sensitive. The resources the clan has given you are based on the talent you have demonstrated, and they are your due as a formal member of the Douglas family. The clan has no intention of making demands on you with those resources. The clan will gather resources from other areas to provide you compensation for your role as a mentor.”
“Oh, what does the clan intend to give me? I should mention that I’m already quite well-off in terms of martial arts resources; I don’t need any more for the time being,” Muria spread his hands.
“The clan is preparing to mobilize our best scientific researchers and a batch of top-quality materials to tailor-make a set of upgradeable star armor for you.”
“Hmm, but I already have Dark Phoenix,” Muria responded. The so-called Dark Phoenix was a mid-tier set of star armor provided to him by the clan when he advanced to become a fourth order star armor master. It came with twelve external devices to handle a variety of emergencies.
“Young Master Jelos, Dark Phoenix is just a standard issue star armor in our clan. How could it possibly compare with a tailor-made set?” Hearing Muria’s words, Butler Paris laughed wryly.
“But even if it’s standard issue, it’s sufficient for my needs at the moment,” Muria stroked his chin. He was very confident in his star talent, although it wasn’t so poor that he wouldn’t be able to make do without additional resources like his father had, nor was it outstanding.
Therefore, he invested most of his efforts into martial arts training, sparing only a small amount of energy for his star armor master training, nurturing his star armor for about three to four hours each day.
“It’s different, Young Master Jelos. Being a star armor master doesn’t conflict with being a martial artist. When you put on the star armor, your combat ability will be further enhanced, but this increase hasn’t reached its limit yet.”
“Oh? How can it be further enhanced?” Muria’s face showed considerable interest.
“Young Master Genos, your Qi can empower the star armor to become more powerful, but that’s your Qi enhancing your star armor, and your star armor cannot increase the power of your Qi.”
“So, the clan can forge me a set of star armor that can enhance the power of my Qi?”
“Certainly. Martial artists also use weapons. The clan is already gathering materials about martial artists who used weapons from 300 years ago and has identified a batch of metals that might enhance your Qi.
Eventually, you’ll go to the clan’s laboratory to collaborate in the testing, to identify the metals that will be useful to you. Then the clan will use these metals as the foundation to refine and cast a custom alloy, before finally forging a set of star armor weapons suitable for you.”
“That sounds quite nice, but that alone is not enough,” Muria’s eyes flashed briefly with interest. Suitable weapons were crucial.
“Then what else do you want? Say it, and as long as it’s not excessive, the clan can accommodate you.”
“I haven’t thought of anything yet, so let’s leave it at that for now.”
“Then are you willing to give lessons?”
“Sure thing. Teaching one is teaching; teaching three is also teaching. It won’t take much effort.”
Muria revealed a relaxed expression. “But before I teach them, I want to spar with them first to establish my position. Oh, and build a hospital next to the manors, for convenience.”
“Alright.” Butler Paris tugged at the corner of his mouth, then nodded. Although he already knew what Muria intended to do as a teacher, he couldn’t help but interject a reminder, “Just make sure no one gets killed, that’s the clan’s bottom line.”
“Don’t worry.”
…
“Dad, I have to tell you, the clan recently assigned me a coach who’s not much older than I am, and he’s supposed to teach me how to fight,” complained the youth who had just returned to his room after receiving the clan’s notice, feeling extremely aggrieved. After giving it some thought, he called his parents, wanting to vent.
“The clan’s arrangements have a deeper purpose. How does the coach’s strength compare to yours?” his father asked with a calm expression.
“He’s a martial artist. I sparred with him three days ago; his strength is unfathomable,” said the youth, still shaken from a past beating. After getting thrashed, he had spent three days recovering in the hospital before just getting discharged and receiving the clan’s notice.
“A martial artist?” The man on the other end of the communicator frowned upon hearing his son’s words, but he soon relaxed, “If his strength surpasses yours, then you should listen to his guidance honestly. Learn well, the clan’s arrangements won’t be amiss.”
“But I’ve heard that martial artists have fallen out of favor, and our son is a star armor master. Why would they assign a martial artist to teach our son? What could he possibly teach?” At this point, a young woman walked over with a hint of dissatisfaction on her face.
“What do you know? This is the clan’s arrangement!” the man retorted sharply to his wife.
“All day long, it’s ‘clan this, clan that.’ Are the clan’s decisions always right?” the young woman huffed with dissatisfaction.
“Every command concerning the future of the clan is discussed by the clan’s think tank. Do you think the entire think tank could be wrong about such a matter? Do you think those three hundred people together are not as smart as you alone?”
A man, familiar with some of the Douglas clan’s operational rules, reproached her harshly. Although he didn’t understand the purpose of the clan’s arrangements, it didn’t stop him from supporting them!
“Hmph!” The young woman snorted softly, offering no argument.
“Your failure to understand the clan’s decisions only proves that your vision is too narrow,” the man scolded, then turned his head back to the screen to look at his son. “The clan has arranged for just one mentor to teach you, or are there others learning with you?”
“There are twelve others with me.”
“Who are they? Give me their names.”
“Daisy, Furnace…” The youth recalled the list he had gathered and recited a string of names.
“If I remember correctly, just like you, all of them are geniuses with a compatibility exceeding 80% with the clan, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Then that’s sufficient.” The man, who had been somewhat worried that his son was being targeted by some big figure in the clan, now completely let go of his concerns.
…
“Phew!” The youth, finding that talking to his parents did nothing, turned off the communicator in his hand and let out a frustrated breath.
“Genos is only a few years older than me and his compatibility is only 64%. That guy is actually going to be my mentor.”
The youth thought indignantly, but then he unconsciously touched his cheek. It still felt tingling;he knew it was because he had been beaten too hard a few days ago. Even though the wounds had healed, he still had a lingering sense of phantom pain.
“That Genos guy, I don’t know what method he used to charm the clan’s higher-ups to become our teacher. I wonder how he plans to teach us. It’s not going to be like three days ago, is it? Sending me straight to the hospital again.”
…
Half a month later, the youth who had just awakened from the medical cabin, took out his communicator without hesitation and contacted his parents,
“Dad, Mom, I’m begging you, please get in touch with the clan’s higher-ups. I don’t want that demon to teach me anymore. Do you know how many times I’ve ended up in the hospital this half month? Five times! It’s only been half a month and I’ve already been in the hospital five times.”
“Hm?” The man, a bit surprised that his son was contacting him again so soon, frowned in alarm, “What’s the situation, tell me in detail?”
So the youth tearfully began to recount his experiences over the past few days, most of which had been spent in the hospital’s medical cabin, with the remainder being spent getting beaten.
“Why would the clan arrange such a coach for you? Isn’t this deliberately tormenting you?” Hearing his son’s description, the man’s brow furrowed even more deeply.
In his son’s account, the coach sounded like a cold-hearted, brutally cruel person, but the father felt that something was off.
“You go back and wait. I’ll contact the butler to find out what the situation really is. If it turns out to be true, I’ll find a way to communicate with the clan’s higher-ups and have you withdraw from the training.”
“Okay, okay, Dad, you must communicate as soon as possible. I really don’t want to go to the hospital anymore.” Hearing his father’s words, the youth cried with relief.
“Butler Vien, I would like to understand why has the clan arranged a martial artist as a coach for my son? My son has complained to me that the coach is subjecting him to abusive training, causing him multiple serious injuries that required hospitalization.”
After hanging up the phone with his son, the man directly called a butler of the Douglas clan, who was in charge of his son.
“Mr. Bennett, the situation is this: most of the elders, including the clan leader, believe that the clan’s previous method of cultivation was too mild. The clan is planning to change tactics and give a more iron-fisted training to the future pillars of the clan. What’s happening now is the first trial.”
The butler who had anticipated queries from the children’s parents patiently explained.
