Chapter 169: The Battle Plan

The timer at the bottom edge of my vision read 4 hours, 27 minutes and was counting down. It marked the start of the planned Russian attack on Ukraine. According to the communications intercepted by Joe, The would begin with drone strikes in and around Kharkiv and additional strikes to the areas where Ukrainian forces had been forced back by the smaller attack squads sent tin the previous day for the express purposes of getting the Ukrainians spread out along the front to fall back into concentrated positions where greater casualties could be inflicted by air strikes.

Phase two of the Russian attacks, planned for one hour after the start of those strikes, would now see at force of 1600 elite fighters and demolitions experts delivered through Russian controlled territory to Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by helicopter. They would launch an initial assault using explosive to breach all 6 of the turbine buildings. Additionally, they would be placing charges on the roofs of the turbine buildings that would allow them to be collapsed if things went poorly. They planned to breach the main control building and the administrative buildings, again by blasting the doors away.

Another 2200 Ground infantry would follow the initial assault on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and the combined forces would storm the facility through multiple points of entrance. They had orders that they "need not take special precautions to preserve the live of any persons inside the facility." The exception was myself. I would be specifically targeted for capture if at all possible, or for death if capture was not possible.

The magnitude of that was somewhat daunting. The Russian Army, a nuclear super-power, had specific orders to capture or kill me. Thousands of soldiers would be arriving here, armed to the teeth, looking for me personally. I was, of course, perfectly safe. First, my presence at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was only through an android body with direct sensory links to my real body back in the Super-Secret Planetary Leadership Headquarters Treehouse Fortress. Second, even my android body was fully shielded with advanced alien technology that was impervious to anything short of a nuclear blast or certain high-density, high-speed projectiles which would ordinarily be used only for heavily armored targets. Third, I could teleport away using my android’s internal LITV equipment. Fourth, Joe could use LITV transport to remove enemy forces that got too close. In fact, with his limitless processing power and super high-speed calculation and targeting ability. He could actually use LITV to remove bullets or other projectiles that had already been fired while in flight.

With advance warning, our invisible, adaptive laser equipped drones could target key connections in explosives detonators, rendering them inoperable, or fuse the firing pins of rifles to the side wall of the weapon, making them entirely inoperative.

Of course, these were all non-lethal options. We could just as easily, more easily if I’m totally honest, just kill the attacking soldiers as we had done with the Mexican cartel gang that tried to over-run Guatemala’s defenses. The images of the bodies lying in the streets with little laser burns at the base of their skulls still haunted me. As did the rows of graves where we had buried them along the border. I had pressured the Guatemalan President to declare the grave site a national monument, and to allow free access from both Guatemala and Mexico so any grieving relatives could visit without restrictions across the border. Those deaths wore heavily upon me. I had resolved never to be so stupid and lazy that I had to resort to lethal violence to solve problems.

The only exception would probably be when we had captured people who were absolutely incapable of being rehabilitated and safely returned to society. Joe had explained that even with direct intervention into their brains, weakening and strengthening neural pathways to suppress violent responses and enhancing the proclivity toward more positive emotional responses, some people were so entrenched in violence and impulsive outbursts that they actively fought against positive thoughts and emotions, essentially undoing the therapeutic efforts with every thought. Others simply lacked the capacity for any empathic response at all. Building them from nothing to make them the first and natural response in the individual’s thought patterns was almost always impossible. Joe told me that such completely irredeemable violent criminals on other worlds were generally executed. Execution, it was thought, was the less cruel option compared to a lifetime in captivity. I hadn’t yet made up my mind on the matter for Earth’s policy. For now, they would remain in full simulation room holding cells undergoing Joe’s best efforts at therapeutic intervention, despite the near hopelessness of the task. In a few cases, the intervention attempting to build positive neural patterns was actually extremely distressing to the subjects, and for these miswired individuals, I told Joe to stop. Without much hope of success, it was more akin to torture for them than reprieve to continue.

I noticed the countdown timer now at 4 hours and 19 minutes. I had wasted 8 minutes in daydreams and self-recrimination.

Ostensibly, I was waiting for Abadi and Joe (as Luca Mueller) to finish their decontamination procedure after the repair work inside reactor six. But with the telepathic link to Joe. I could be and should be planning the details of our response to the attack.

Joe, I asked through the link, how are we doing with the mass construction of sim room holding cells? Do we have enough capacity for the entire force converging on Zaporizhzhia plus those already on the grounds within, say, a half mile?

Yes, easily. We have accelerated the construction efforts and now have over 98,000 available cells. I stopped adding to new cell to the Blue Island facility at 64,000 total and have been using a new undersea location in the Pacific about 750 miles southwest of the Port of San Jose, Guatemala. The new facility rests on the sea floor and is externally camouflaged to match the terrain there.

I shrugged. I supposed with LITV the location really didn’t matter so long as nobody was likely to bump into it. If joe was comfortable with an undersea facility, that was good enough for me. Good, establish a half mile perimeter around the Zaporizhzhia grounds.At 30 minutes before the initial attack, pick up every Russian soldier within that perimeter. Once the attack commences, pick up every member of the attacking forces once they are inside that perimeter. Can you handle the helicopters and other vehicles if the crews are removed?

Yes, I can handle the controls remotely and fly them, or we can shut them down and LITV them to another location.

OK, fly or drive whatever vehicles are involved in the attack here to the plant. Park them all in a nearby field or parking lot or whatever. Send 25 of our paramilitaries to patrol the area and prevent all access to the vehicles for now. Support them in that as necessary. All weaponry and tactical gear from the assault forces are to be delivered to whatever location Dovzhenko wants. Not uniforms, just gear. Remind him strongly he has agreed not to launch any offensive effort for the next 72 hours.

When you have the LITV transport capacity, remove all the Russian mines from inside our Zaporizhzhiaperimeter.

Acknowledged, Joe replied. I remind you, King Tim, that since we both now understand that LITV technology is just shifting the properties of the quantum space inside the desired volume in such a way that it is somewhere else in space time, I can do that directly without the machinery that every advanced civilization thinks is required. Therefore, we have no real limit to the number, size or mass of objects that can be transported through Local Interdimensional Transport.

Oh, right. Then pull the mines immediately. Destroy them. I don’t want any weapon that kills indiscriminately like mines to be transferred to Ukraine or any other nation. Make a note that such weapons should be entirely banned. We need to figure out how to add that to the UEC agreement.

OK, I want our drones positioned to intercept the aerial attacks. Use the lasers to destroy or detonate every incoming missile, drone, artillery shell or whatever in flight. Choose intercept points that ensure no falling debris will injure anyone. Do we have enough drones?

Yes, each drone with my real-time targeting and firing control is capable of defending a large area against all human tech air traffic. Additionally, we can transport them to multiple locations as each area is cleared. The drones we have can cover nearly the entire planet at once, as long as the flight times of the enemy projectiles allow for non-simultaneous engagements.

You lost me after ’yes.’ I told him, but that’s the only part of the answer I need right now. What was the plan, five planes making bombing runs against concentrated Ukrainian forces around SUMY?

Yes.

Take the pilots once they cross into Ukrainian territory. LITV the planes themselves to Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport. Shut them down and park them wherever they park planes there. Try to put them in a military zone there if there is anything like that.

Acknowledged, King Tim. Since the airport is currently not in operation, there is no civilian plane presence. The airport is occasionally used for military flights.

Also, create a map of every Russian unit involved in the attack including launched artillery shells and everything. Map their launch points, intercept points, and projected target if we had not intercepted them. Highlight any that would have struck civilian targets. Use your systems infiltration to backtrack the orders and who ordered the civilian targets to be hit. I want the entire chain of command involved in choosing and launching against civilian targets identified with documentary evidence of their involvement. Audio or video recordings if there’s no documentation. Whatever you can get.

Likewise, document the orders to use or plant explosive charges on or near the reactors or turbine buildings at Zaporizhzhia and the specific origin and path of the orders that casualties among the Zaporizhzhia technicians are acceptable.

Another thought occurred to me. Can you do the same for the orders to kill or capture me? I don’t need the whole chain of command there, just the origin and anybody who initially suggested it to the decision-makers.

Acknowledged. I’ll get what I can. Some orders may have been verbal and If we didn’t have drones in place to listen and record, we won’t be able to follow or document them.

I understand. We do have drones following President Volkov and his top generals though, right?

Yes, King Tim. They are under constant close surveillance. We have at least two drones with Volkov wherever he goes, as you ordered when you decided to offer assistance to Ukraine.
