Chapter 984: Four Penniless Ghosts
Chapter 984: Chapter 984: Four Penniless Ghosts
Player Liang Yi gave a bitter smile, "Just my bad luck."
"There are private restrooms on the train, you will be safe once you board," Ye Kaihua comforted.
"That’s not necessarily true." The man with a stubble beard interjected, "A lamb amongst wolves can hardly expect the wolves to be vegetarian."
"We are all human, you consider yourself an irrational beast, but don’t rope others into that," Ye Kaihua scoffed coldly.
The stubbled man truly exploded this time, flashing quickly in front of Ye Kaihua. Their props collided, causing a dull sound before each retreated. Both held their close-combat equipment in their hands but stopped a second before making another move, both simultaneously looking towards the same direction.
The chair which was caught in the mishap had turned into a wreck. The previously seated Liang Yi had also stood up, but like the two men confronting each other, turned to look towards the man standing to the side.
Xu Huo just stood there with a cold gaze, bringing a palpable pressuring force to the three of them.
Reaching such a level of influence without using any prop or characteristic could mean either a significant difference in strength or that the other party is a Super Evolver!
After a brief eye contact, Ye Kaihua was the first to retract his prop, "This is a train station, disturbing others’ rest is not gentlemanly behavior."
Although the stubbled man also withdrew, his expression was unpleasant, obviously remembering this incident.
This brief conflict was resolved without any further participation from other players, who variously maintained their silence.
The train hadn’t arrived yet, and Xu Huo moved to another spot.
No one disturbed him this time, and the station remained quiet until the train arrived.
Not all players in the station were boarding the same train. After three trains, the Dimension Train heading for the E20 Wormhole Point arrived. Xu Huo boarded the train only to find Ye Kaihua, Liang Yi, and the stubbled man in the same carriage.
By then, eight players were already in the carriage – not having just boarded, they had set out food and drink leisurely, some playing cards, others on communicators, unaffected by their entry; they simply continued what they were doing.
Each of these eight people had occupied a restroom, leaving four rooms in the corners near the middle of the carriage.
Xu Huo glanced at the card players, then picked a room towards the end of the carriage.
Quick reflexes led the stubbled man to choose a room at the front, while Ye Kaihua and Liang Yi shared a look and then chose rooms further apart.
Given Liang Yi’s condition, resting in a room was the safest option. However, the players in the same carriage had no intention of leaving this piece of "fat meat" unattended overnight. The man with arm tattoos threw down his cards, a long knife appeared in his hand, and he slashed directly at her nape!
Liang Yi reacted swiftly, surrounding herself with metallic props and then warning the man, "Don’t come any closer," the man that was very close automatically moved back three meters.
However, he had accomplices.
Two more card players emerged, enclosing Liang Yi in the middle. One of them lifted a hand, and whether using a characteristic or a prop, the metal block she held fell out of her hand and was drawn invisibly into the arm tattooed man’s hand!
Liang Yi immediately took out a new defense prop but it couldn’t withstand another tattooed man’s kick. His shoes seemed to be props too, kicking through the defensive barrier and striking her chest.
Liang Yi stepped back several times. Just as she was about to grab a new prop, her right hand was chopped off at the wrist. In agony, she looked towards Ye Kaihua standing by the front door, then used a road-opening prop to reach Xu Huo’s room door.
Just as she stood at the door, several fine needles released by the arm tattooed man stuck into the room!
The room door opened almost simultaneously, the metal needles flying in lost their trace, and out stepped Xu Huo. He raised his hand towards the arm tattooed man, sending him along with his defense prop crashing into the carriage wall!
As he was hurled out, the room’s table flipped over. The middle-aged man calmly standing by the fishing pole then made a grabbing motion towards Xu Huo’s throat.
The "Unassailable Territory" had already taken effect, completely blocking the opponent’s attack with a spatial barrier. Ordinary props were ineffective, and evidently, these few people didn’t possess suitable characteristics for this spatial artifact, so although they attacked several times within three seconds, all were ineffectual.
As the "Unassailable Territory" effect ended in an instant, Xu Huo teleported to the side of the nearest player, tearing open his enemy’s spatial artifact defense with his bare hands, then slit his throat with a sword!
"Three Hundred Sixty Defenses" blocked several attacks and managed to kill one person, Xu Huo immediately moved to the next, who was also effortlessly killed as he was slower; handing over his life neatly.
"Send You a Thousand Miles!" The middle-aged man, by instinct moved to a corner, used the characteristic facing towards the front.
This tactic was indeed effective but characteristics have time limits, and Xu Huo did not waste time, turning to head towards the arm tattooed man.
Seeing how two of his comrades died, the arm tattooed man directly hid inside a metal box, meanwhile deploying two mechanical beings to delay time.
The dense bullets whizzing through the carriage felt like a fierce rainstorm splattering everywhere, but this could only delay... not for long, within three seconds, both mechanical beings were scrapped under the "Eye of the Deceased," along with the prop box and the man inside, all were sliced in half!
After taking care of this side, Xu Huo sensed the middle-aged man’s movements a few meters away, and without turning his head moved beside the room on his side.
The middle-aged man’s position was just at the angle between the room and the carriage wall, hidden from view by the back door. This targeted characteristic failed to kill him, but it did blast the door of the stubble-bearded man’s room.
The specially made glass material was not easily destroyable; exploding the door to smithereens demonstrated the power of the characteristic, but unfortunately, it didn’t hit the target—Xu Huo lightly brushed his ring and reappeared in front of the middle-aged man, his sword sweeping across to send him off.
"Boom!" As his corpse fell, something resembling a bomb rolled on the floor, exploding with a subtle sound but unleashing power entirely out of proportion to the noise, outright demolishing the entire living room’s layout, leaving it clean without leaving a mark on the carriage.
Of course, this did not even scratch Xu Huo who was close by. Brushing nonexistent dust off his clothes, he coldly said, "Four poor devils."
