Chapter 983: Chapter 983: City Sandbox

Xu Huo received an interview notice that was named specifically for him, which meant only he could use it; it couldn’t be transferred or sold.

This was a fairly important item, just not immediately useful.

After reviewing the gains from clearing the instance, he started to integrate the other items he had obtained.

The most valuable of these was the Rank A Prop "City Sandbox" provided by Gao Xiaoyan, a half-meter square white chessboard covered with grids and six small models representing people and buildings. These models could only be moved by players who have undergone Spirit Evolution, making it an auxiliary prop.

Although it seemed more decorative than practical to the average player, it still possessed the power of a Rank A Prop. Like the "Life Core," the sandbox corresponded to an actual city, meaning as long as a player’s Psychic Power covers a whole city, the sandbox’s operational range would be that entire city, allowing the player to move any person or building within as if they were chess pieces on the board.

This seemed more like an advanced stage of Spirit Evolution. With Xu Huo’s current level of Evolution, he could use his Spiritual World to move within enclosed buildings, simply put, to phase through walls, as long as they were not fully metal enclosed. However, the "City Sandbox" took this further, enabling direct movement of buildings and players—its power was not on the same level.

Of course, right now, it would probably be difficult for him to use this prop, and he wondered if it could be operated inside the "Seventeenth Hospital."

Xu Huo paused his actions and continued to inspect the other props.

Gao Xiaoyan had given him two other Rank-B props. One was called "Strangers Keep Out," a storage prop with a preservation feature, and the stored items inside couldn’t be scanned by the Game System—player’s personal panels were an open book to the Game System, nothing could bypass its scans except for identifying specific components of Potions. This prop was quite good, though it was unclear if it really could keep secrets from the game.

Another one was "Identity Swap," which allowed the holder to exchange positions with any living thing within a fifty-meter radius, including people and sizable animals.

Both props had unexpectedly useful applications, better than nothing, at least.

The rest were the legacies of players.

Apart from the already used environmental prop "Sole Entrance," the spatial prop for restricting movement "Core of Luminescence," the close-range "Divine Slap" that could slap someone with the force of a cannonball, and the building-specific spatial prop "Mini Radar" for sensing and defense—excluding "Sole Entrance," the last three were all Rank-C Items.

A female player from W18 also had a Rank-B prop "Velocity Match Flight," capable of tracking any vehicle and matching its speed, which was also quite good.

The remainder included a total of seventy-three props collected from the individuals they killed in the desert, spanning various levels below Rank-C, mostly useless in high-speed combat. Xu Huo kept a few interesting ones and planned to sell the rest in a bulk.

All other Potions and cargo hold items were treated the same.

The cargo hold items were inconvenient to tidy up at the moment, so Xu Huo just glanced over the general inventory. In addition to regular materials, the people from the desert had also stored a large amount of stimulants, likely because they couldn’t fit them in their personal panels anymore.

[The cargo hold contains many valueless items. Players can choose to discard them for the game to handle. Do you wish to discard?]

Xu Huo discarded the clearly useless items from the list, keeping those that had some value or were ambiguously described by the game. His cargo hold had expanded by two cubic meters, fitting these items wasn’t an issue.

After dealing with these, he finally stretched his body and drank two bottles of Self-Healing Potion to relieve some chest pain.

Even with the use of defensive artifacts, taking a hit from a Rank-A Player still resulted in unavoidable injury, likely internal organ damage. After drinking the Self-Healing Potion, he coughed for two minutes and actually spit out some blood.

Under the faintly discernible scrutinizing gazes within the station, he took out a clean handkerchief, wiped the corner of his mouth, and then casually started eating as if nothing had happened.

The player in the corner had already finished their "meal" and, after picking their teeth, sat down next to him, "Brother, that looks like no light injury."

Xu Huo glanced at him, causing the other’s presumptuous expression to immediately soften, and he rubbed his stubbled chin before saying with a smile, "Don’t be so tense, just a greeting."

Xu Huo pointed to the chair across with his chin, signaling him to sit over there.

The bearded man’s expression wasn’t very pleasant, but he did not move from his spot.

Xu Huo didn’t continue to engage with him and finished his meal, then started to rest with closed eyes.

The bearded man looked at him darkly for several seconds but ultimately restrained himself and moved to another spot.

Half a minute later, another player arrived at the station, severely injured and almost unable to stand upon entering, staggering to sit next to Xu Huo, immediately bending over to vomit a mouthful of blood.

A gravely injured player could be a target for anyone; instantly, most of the gazes in the station were directed at her, and the bearded man was even more conspicuous, deliberately making noise and licking his white teeth, "Beauty, need a hand from a brother?"

The female player wiped off the blood from her mouth and set a long metal strip in front of her, creating a semi-transparent fence that formed a barrier around her.

But this didn’t stop other players from looking on—everyone was waiting for the moment she could no longer hold up.

The female player gave a cold smile and then turned her gaze to Xu Huo next to her, "Can you please move somewhere else to sit?"

The bearded man across whistled.

Xu Huo opened his eyes, "No."

Then he closed them again, clearly indicating his disinterest in conversation.

The female player, not daring to provoke conflict unnecessarily and having received a negative response, started taking care of her injuries on her own.

Aside from internal injuries, she had many wounds caused by sharp weapons, some with an unusual color, so in addition to standard Healing Potions, she was also consuming large amounts of Antitoxin, yet even so, signs of poisoning still appeared, with her lips turning purple and her face covered with fine vascular markings.

"Are you alright?" a gentlemanly looking man came over to ask, "I have a Rank-A category Antitoxin, do you need it?"

"No, thank you," replied the female player weakly. Seeing her, the man’s gaze softened with a hint of pity and chivalry. He placed the Potion beside her, "You can try it to see if it works."

He left after saying that, choosing a far seat to avoid any insinuations.

The female player took a while before picking up the Potion, ensuring there were no issues before swallowing it. After taking it, the purplish streaks on her face indeed receded somewhat but did not completely detoxify her.

"Thank you," she initiated conversation with the gentlemanly man.
