Chapter 957: W37 in Chaos

Chapter 957: Chapter 957: W37 in Chaos

The real alarm sound told the law enforcement team Player Xu Huo who infiltrated the laboratory that it wasn’t a lie; he truly intended to drag the entire laboratory down with him!

"Damn it, he’ll just pat his ass and run away, leaving such a mess behind, and it’ll cost a lot of money to clean it up!" a player wearing glasses yelled furiously, "I knew we shouldn’t have let those players from outside the area roam around the city!"

"It’s not that simple," Duck Tongue Cap said, "Do you think restricting players is enough? Fifteen minutes ago, all spatial artifacts in the city failed simultaneously, even the Rank-A Props were no exception."

"Think about it, either there is an advanced player with an S-rank Item here, or someone specializing in traits against spatial types of props; such a person couldn’t possibly be easy to deal with."

Duck Tongue Cap’s expression darkened, "The worst-case scenario is that they’re all in it together."

The virus alarm continued to sound, and Duck Tongue Cap and his team dared not linger in the laboratory.

"We will activate the surveillance system."

After dropping this statement, Duck Tongue Cap ordered all players who had entered the laboratory to retreat. Once the surveillance system was restored, Xu Huo checked the internal situation of the laboratory and left the control room straight away.

The control room’s surveillance also connected to the temporary command center. Seeing the fragments of potion bottles all over the ground, everyone present frowned, but Xu Huo was dressed as a clown with no clues to be tracked, and had not shown his hand so far, hence nobody knew what rank of player he was, let alone his traits and props.

"Let the mayor decide," someone suggested, "Any oversight, and the current situation at W37 might completely collapse. We can’t bear that responsibility."

After connecting through the communicator, the female mayor appeared on the electronic projection screen, a plainly dressed woman with a scar that stretched from her left brow across her nose to her right cheek. Despite the scar, it didn’t make her appear ferocious but rather revealed a unique resilience.

Everyone in the temporary command center watched this aged woman, waiting for her to speak.

"From the day I arrived at W37, I decided to share a common fate with this city."

"W37’s accomplishments today couldn’t have happened without everyone’s efforts here. I believe all of you, like me, won’t allow anyone to disrupt our homeland."

"For W37, everyone, start taking action."

"Whoever intends to destroy our homeland must pay a bloody price."

"I swear upon time!"

Everyone in the temporary command center solemnly stood up, "I swear upon time!"

Witnessing the person in clown attire depart from the control room, the temporary commander immediately ordered the law enforcement team to inject the antitoxin and prepare for a major assault on the R1 laboratory.

Rescue vehicles gathered nearby gradually left. All laboratories in this area started evacuating personnel and samples. Simultaneously, R1 was sealed off by players, with sixty players entering the laboratory in three groups of twenty each.

The activity around the experimental area inevitably alarmed everyone in Base W37 City. Furthermore, due to the recent news broadcasted by Bluebird TV Station that "other Base Cities have breached W37," the news spread widely, plunging the entire city into a warlike sentiment. These people held full confidence in their city, but just minutes after the excitement kicked in, several workers from the quarantine zone spread the news about the SE virus outbreak, causing both the virus and panic to spread extremely rapidly.

"Boom!" Suddenly, an explosion erupted somewhere in the city, the towering flames acting like a signal for a festivity kickoff; within minutes, varying degrees of unrest appeared in different parts of the city.

"Holy shit, it’s a total brawl!" Shangguan Xi, watching the law enforcement team players rushing from all directions to the incident location, clicked his tongue and then dialed Xu Huo’s communicator.

"Brother Xu, no matter what you plan to do, be careful. All players in W37 are out now, and this broken place might still have Rank-A players around, if something goes wrong we need to run fast."

Xu Huo appreciated his goodwill and, after hanging up the phone, walked through the third-floor corridor of the laboratory, opening every room door along the way.

Then, he stepped aside letting two players searching for him pass by, then went down the stairs to the second floor.

The first floor had a severe virus leakage, so most players avoided it. In Xu Huo’s sensory range, there were only six people on the first floor, about fifteen on the second floor, with the rest scattered across the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth floors.

The laboratory covered a large area, and with his current psychic power, he couldn’t control such a vast place; thus, he chose a main building and incorporated it into his spiritual world.

"Did the lights just dim a bit?" Duck Tongue Cap, who had reached the third floor, sensitively noticed the subtle changes in the environment. He ordered his team to stop and alerted the other five teams, "Watch the laboratory environment, there could be more than one person involved."

Sixty people were divided into six groups. The glasses-wearing man, prejudiced against outer area players, also led a team. He had already searched two floors and did so after another team had checked.

"No props or equipment found," the glasses-wearing man said, "Even the clown guy is gone; could he have already run away?"

"He entered the laboratory by sending a warning. Now that the law enforcement team has this area tightly surrounded, with so many eyes watching, how could he escape?" Duck Tongue Cap said, "Be careful, I’m worried he’s a Super Evolver."

After a temporary communication break, the glasses-wearing man glanced around and then raised his hand, signaling his subordinates to spread out.

"Even if there’s a Super Evolver, they can only control a limited number of people at once."

The personnel dispersed; even if the opposite party used props to hide their trail, as long as they made a move, they couldn’t escape detection.

"Captain, the opposition might also be a Spirit Evolver," a subordinate suggested.

"Spirit Evolution usually has traces; dispersion remains effective. Divide into three groups, four-four-two. Xiao Meng and I will go ahead," said the glasses-wearing man.

The ten people spread out front and back, with the glasses-wearing man upfront, scouting and informing those behind him of the situation.

Three minutes later, the group crossed a corridor where the lights had been smashed. The lighting in the corridor was dim, and the glasses-wearing man threw two props around the corner, one of which was a lighting prop that illuminated a bright light when activated. At the far end of the corridor, a shadow darted by!

"Got you!" The glasses-wearing man immediately chased after it, releasing a chain prop that flew along the wall to the front of the corridor, automatically forming a gate.

"Let’s see where you can run to!" The glasses-wearing man smirked triumphantly, but before he got close, the shadow turned back, smiled at him, and then disappeared in front of the chain gate.

The glasses-wearing man frowned and quickly called to his teammates behind him, but when he looked back, his teammates who were supposed to be following had vanished without a trace!
