Xu Huo emerged from the quarantine zone to find that the abnormal condition of the infected had been discovered by players. The government had not made a big show of sealing off the area, but rather discreetly closed several entrances to the quarantine zone. They detained both the vehicles and people coming from the crematorium.

Apart from communication, several players had left the quarantine zone during this time.

After waiting outside the quarantine zone for about ten minutes, a fleet of vehicles marked "Mother River Bio-Tech" arrived. Having distanced himself from the quarantine zone, Xu Huo received a call from Shangguan Xi, who suppressed his excitement and said, "I knew Teacher Ai was up to no good. Guess who he went to see? A retired security guard from a government lab!"

"Not exactly," Shangguan Xi replied. "They used some kind of prop. Teacher Ai is now at that guard’s house, and all’s quiet for the moment."

Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure the person hasn’t left?"

"Of course, I’m confident in that," Shangguan Xi paused before adding, "But I’ve noticed some people seem to be watching the guard."

"Where are you?" Xu Huo asked further.

Shangguan Xi shared his location, and Xu Huo gauged the distance before saying, "I’ll be right there."

Using "Towards the Destination," he moved quickly through the city. Weaving through the streets, it didn’t take him long to reach the location mentioned by Shangguan Xi.

Approaching the destination two blocks away, Xu Huo put away the prop. He had used it recently, drawing attention from a few players in the Law Enforcement Team. He was being watched.

Players were active in the city, and as long as they didn’t cause trouble, the Law Enforcement Team would not intervene. Once he entered a restaurant and ordered two late-night snacks to go, the players who had been following him walked away.

Packing the food, Xu Huo walked to where Shangguan Xi had settled down—in a dance hall.

It was a true dance hall, even more primitive than the entertainment venues in Zone 014. A crowd of people danced closely together, with "couples" not shy about placing hands on each other in the dim lighting, exploiting props to spice up the fun. Better-than-average potions were freely available, and some were willing to grovel to other players to obtain them.

Shangguan Xi, sitting by a small window with two scantily clad women, waved at Xu Huo with a beaming smile. A pile of White Notes and a table full of good liquor demonstrated his wealth.

The women parted to make room for Xu Huo, who had arrived and looked towards the high-rise across the street.

Before entering, he had scanned the area. The streets were laid out in a grid pattern, with the dance hall at an intersection. Diagonally across was the residence of the retired security guard Shangguan Xi had mentioned.

From this distance, Xu Huo could ascertain whether anyone was inside the guard’s home. He also noticed surveillance from households sharing the same floor as the security guard, as well as from a residence two floors higher across the way.

Inside the room, Teacher Ai had seemingly wrapped up his catch-up with an old friend. He was drinking tea and flipping through newspapers while the square-faced man with him browsed local restaurant menus to order food.

"Did you bring food for me?" Shangguan Xi reached for the food on the table.

"It’s not for you," Xu Huo cut in, "Visiting someone’s home requires a gift."

Uncertain of Xu Huo’s intentions, Shangguan Xi remarked, "They might not welcome us if we just show up like this."

Teacher Ai had traveled far to meet a retired security guard with a sensitive background. Claiming it was just to catch up sounded far-fetched. Regardless of his intentions, with their history, the guard would surely be suspicious of their motives.

Moreover, they were tracking Teacher Ai for their reasons. Wouldn’t barging in ruin everything?

"I’ll signal you from the outside," Xu Huo explained without further elaboration and carried the takeout from the dance hall, heading directly to the opposite building.

Upon reaching the entrance, the doorman stopped him briefly. Noticing that additional players were heading their way, Xu Huo claimed to be delivering food. The doorman remained resolute, demanding contact with the resident.

With the Law Enforcement Team nearby, Xu Huo pulled out the communicator and called the retired guard’s residence.

After the line connected, he simply stated, "This is Xu Gou, delivering food for Teacher Ai."

Two seconds later, the voice on the other end responded, "Come on up, I’ll let the doorman know."

Xu Huo entered the complex and, stepping into the elevator, saw another player monitoring the scene jump from the building, while two or three more scaled the surrounding wall.

The elevator went up to the sixth floor, but a player was already waiting at the door when Xu Huo stepped out, reaching for the items in his hands.

Xu Huo’s eyelids drooped, bypassing the player who, annoyed at his indifference, reached for his shoulder. At that moment a crash sounded from within the room, and the man’s expression changed. Letting Xu Huo be, he rushed to the room where Teacher Ai was and kicked down the door!

Almost the moment the door burst open, Xu Huo felt the loss of the two occupants within the room, accompanied by an item emitting a faint ticking sound...

In one swift movement, he leapt from the corridor window, just extracting the "Absolute Safety Distance" when a massive flame burst forth with a loud explosion from within the building!

The building was blown apart!

Protected by the prop-generated barrier, the heat of the flames was kept at bay, but Xu Huo was still flung over ten meters by the shockwave. Without looking back, he knew at least half the building was destroyed as nearby buildings and streets were all hit by the blast. The strong winds and blinding afterglow spread several hundred meters, turning shards of glass and other breakable debris into secondary projectiles—causing further havoc and claiming many lives, including several players who were too close to escape.
