Chapter 935: Chapter 935 How to Divide the Clearance Rewards

"It’s best not to go around," Teacher Ai said, "We don’t have enough energy, and the roads nearby are not necessarily easier. If we avoid the hottest time, the car should have no problem getting past."

"Then let’s go," Gao Xiaoyan invited Xu Huo to the front car.

But Xu Huo declined today. "I’ll follow you."

Gao Xiaoyan did not insist and took her people to drive ahead, as she was not driving the vehicle today.

Pan Qiao was driving the car behind them. Shangguan Xi used a Silencing Prop before asking, "Brother Xu, do you think Gao Xiaoyan’s party might trigger a side mission?"

"Not sure, let’s get to W37 Base first," Xu Huo said.

"They already know we’re dungeon players. Could they try something against us along the way?" Zhu Feiyun’s bracelet was still in the hands of Gao Xiaoyan’s group. He glanced subtly back at the metal cage imprisoning the Alien.

"If they wanted to make a move, they wouldn’t have let things rest last night," Kuang Wenjun said with furrowed brows. "A live sample is everyone’s hope for passing the level. You’d better not get any funny ideas."

Xu Huo looked back at him.

Noticing his gaze, Zhu Feiyun looked embarrassed. "Given the situation yesterday, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say we were coerced by them. I was just looking for a backup plan during the cooldown of our Traits and Props."

From Zhu Feiyun’s point of view, there was nothing wrong with that. The key was that they were no match for Gao Xiaoyan and her party. Without the live sample, they might still have a chance to fight, but if they wanted to pass the level, it was best not to make enemies.

"Whether we are dungeon players or not doesn’t make much difference to them," Xu Huo said. "If they had to fight every player heading to Base W37 City, they wouldn’t bother staying here to manage a city."

"I’m still a bit skeptical of their identities," Kuang Wenjun said, his suspicions running deep. "They don’t get along with W11, and their first thought upon seeing an Alien is to suspect W11’s intentions... And W11’s intentions are questionable on their own. Don’t they think we might have another mission? If it were me, I would definitely think this group of players intends to spread a virus to W37."

The reaction of the man with the Lightning tattoo was the normal one. As the leader of their group, it was Gao Xiaoyan who seemed a bit odd.

"Maybe they already know about our dungeon mission," Shangguan Xi said. "Haven’t there been players who failed to pass the level and ended up in W37?"

"If they know the mission’s content, wouldn’t they find it even weirder?" Zhu Feiyun said. "W11 asking players from other districts to deliver a live sample to W37 sounds absurd."

"It’s simple if there’s a cooperative relationship between W11 and W37," Xu Huo interjected.

Everyone in the car, including Teacher Ai, looked at him, but Xu Huo went on to say, "Is this strange? Players can change factions in a revolving fashion; it’s quite normal for Base Cities to change their stances."

From what he knew both from players from Beneath the Dimension and some local players, he believed that W37 had a terrible relationship with other Base Cities. Especially from the information in the Game Government Library, W37, as the last Base City to be constructed, had a very tortuous process. It was built by those who were first expelled from the major Base Cities, and to call them sworn enemies would not be an overstatement.

With this in mind, considering the position of these two Bases in regards to W19, he also believed that the live sample didn’t possess any antibodies. After all, if the goal was really to cure the epidemic, it would be entirely possible to find a solution from other game zones.

The fact that there had been no progress on this for so many years suggested that all the Base Cities tacitly accepted the status quo.

Whether there was a cooperative relationship between W11 and W37 was just speculation. Of course, whether there was a cooperative relationship or not, it might not affect the function of the live sample.

Xu Huo thought of another possibility.

"How can there be a cooperation when other Base Cities have portrayed W37 in such a way?" Shangguan Xi commented, then added, "If that’s the case, then there’s no problem with the background provided by the dungeon. As for the side mission, maybe it has something to do with vaccine research."

Zhu Feiyun and the other two didn’t speak, but their expressions seemed to agree. On the other hand, Teacher Ai didn’t look too pleased.

The temperature outside gradually rose.

With the off-road vehicle damaged and the need to save energy, there was no air conditioning inside. As the temperature climbed, humans were the first to suffer.

"Do you guys have any Fan Props?" Shangguan Xi asked, pulling at her collar.

"The fans just blow hot air. It’s better to buy some ice now," Zhu Feiyun suggested after fiddling with his personal panel for a bit and then shared several ice buckets among them. "This thing is said to come from some freezing game zone. It melts slowly and should keep us cool for a while."

Shangguan Xi hugged a bucket close and then turned to Xu Huo, "Brother Xu, do you want one? While the protective suit can regulate temperature, wearing it in such high heat can actually make it harder to dissipate."

Xu Huo was still in his protective suit, not because the suit’s cooling function was exceptional, but because he didn’t feel that hot.

It was unclear whether this was a benefit from perfect Evolution, but he had certainly become more tolerant to environmental conditions, and the current temperature did not seem unbearable.

Nevertheless, to fit in, he took an ice bucket too.

Gao Xiaoyan called from the front. "We’ll reach Linyin District in half an hour, where we can rest. Mr. Xu, how are you doing? If it’s too hot, you can come to our car."

Xu Huo thanked her but declined.

Zhu Feiyun and Kuang Wenjun exchanged looks in the backseat. The former asked, "If we successfully reach W37, how will we split the passage reward?"

The car fell silent for a moment until Shangguan Xi said, "Divided equally, what else? But Brother Xu can take a larger share since we are riding on your coattails to keep the peace with Gao Xiaoyan’s group."

"What do you think, Brother Xu?"

Logically, everyone in a team had put in effort, so an equal share was fair, and that was the foundation of cooperation. If the split was based on who did more or less, unless it came down to just one person, there would be no end to disputes.

The reason why they were discussing this before reaching W37 and why Zhu Feiyun and the others were willing to compromise mainly had to do with potential side missions, with Gao Xiaoyan’s group providing an excellent entry point.

"He’s right; of course, a team should split equally," Xu Huo stated. "As for side missions, if Gao Xiaoyan really wants to hire me as a teacher, I can take you with me. I can’t guarantee a mission will trigger, but if we do trigger a side mission, I want one-third of the task rewards."

"Discuss amongst yourselves. If you agree, we’ll continue to work together. If not, we’ll go our separate ways at W37."

"I have no objections," Kuang Wenjun said, first to nod.

What could Zhu Feiyun say? Opposing meant being left out of the game.

"What’s your plan for settling in once we get to W37?" Xu Huo then addressed Teacher Ai.

"The welfare policy in W37 is good; you can get living resources just for working," Teacher Ai said still expressionless. "Unless there’s an accident, I’ll probably die in W37, no need to worry that my body will become someone else’s food."

Xu Huo looked into the distance, the bright sunlight shining on the azure sky. It looked vibrant but was a trial everywhere.
