Chapter 934: Chapter 934 Gao Xiaoyan

The atmosphere was tense, and everyone’s attention was on Gao Xiaoyan’s hand when she suddenly stopped and smiled at Xu Huo, "Your friend isn’t being honest."

Xu Huo tilted his head back, took a drink, and wiped his mouth with a gesture indicating "suit yourself," "Just fellow travelers, not really friends."

Zhu Feiyun’s expression darkened, and Kuang Wenjun became immediately alert, guarding against Gao Xiaoyan and others while also wary of Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi—they couldn’t be sure if these people were players from W37. Xu Huo and his two companions might just abandon them to form a new alliance!

"Even though they are fellow travelers," Xu Huo paused for two seconds before continuing, "if you kill him, we will be one man down, and that does not fit my plan."

"I hope we can deliver the alien to Base W37 City together."

The flickering firelight cast shadows that danced around him, creating a distinct border between light and dark. The players had good vision, yet it seemed they could not make out his half-hidden face in the darkness—a different kind of oppressive feeling was seeping out from it!

The ponytailed man and the muscular man, who were closest to him, stood up and shifted their spears from Zhu Feiyun toward Xu Huo!

"Super Evolver!" Gao Xiaoyan’s demeanor changed completely, and she cast an excited look at him as she rushed toward him.

"Xiao Yan!" The ponytailed man’s face lost its smile as he quickly reached out to stop her.

"It’s fine!" Gao Xiaoyan waved her hand dismissively. "I had a nice chat with Mr. Xu on the road earlier; it was just a misunderstanding. Let’s continue drinking and eating!"

The men with ponytails were visibly worried, but they couldn’t stop her from voluntarily moving closer to Xu Huo. Unlike the others, she did not perceive Xu Huo as dangerous and asked curiously, "How did you achieve Super Evolution? Could you teach me?"

Xu Huo’s goal was to safely reach Base W37 City. If she was willing to make peace, he was naturally happy to share some experience.

"Have you started your Secondary Evolution yet?"

Gao Xiaoyan immediately shook her head, "I’ve tried many methods, but none have worked."

"That’s tough then," Xu Huo said, "only those who have crossed this threshold can understand."

"You underwent Spirit Evolution towards becoming a Super Evolver, right? Can you let me experience it?" Gao Xiaoyan made an overly ambitious request.

"Gao Xiaoyan!" The ponytailed man called out her full name this time.

Gao Xiaoyan fixed her eyes on Xu Huo. "I know players oriented towards spiritual evolution generally don’t demonstrate their abilities to advanced players, but don’t worry, I promise I won’t harm you."

Xu Huo did not view her as overly proud, but instead knew that Spirit Evolution was not as strong as it sounded. It hardly affected players with strong willpower unless they were successfully drawn into illusions, and there were many props that counteracted mental interference.

Opening up the Spiritual World was a double-edged sword, especially when a player’s strength was not very strong. Misuse could easily harm oneself, a fact he had learned deeply during his sparring with Bai Kou—he generally only used the Spiritual World when he was confident.

Therefore, Xu Huo refused her request.

Gao Xiaoyan looked visibly disappointed. However, she did not press further and said, "You’re a Rank-C Player, right? It’s difficult for you to use Super Evolution abilities in front of me. Here’s the thing—I have a younger brother who is still a Level D Player, already halfway through this threshold. If you could give him some guidance, I promise you a safe journey."

Her companions raised no objections this time, and Xu Huo, also genuinely interested, readily agreed.

Gao Xiaoyan’s emotions were clearly visible; she then said to him, "The companions you found are not very reliable. Over half of mine are Rank-B players. Isn’t he dragging you to your death? Do you want me to handle it for you? Consider it a preemptive gift from me to my mentor!"

Zhu Feiyun’s eyes visibly filled with terror, but before he could react, the ponytailed man and the lightning tattooed man had already grasped his shoulders from both sides. The former even intercepted his attempt to crush his wristband and took it for himself.

Without clearing the instance or failing it, it meant that dungeon players could not use tickets to leave the station, thus preventing escape from the two Rank-B players—Gao Xiaoyan and her group were clearly aware they were dungeon players.

Xu Huo had purposely obscured that point earlier not to deceive them, as dungeon players or non-dungeon players made no difference to Gao Xiaoyan and her group—it was just a small flaw he sold.

Zhu Feiyun froze in place, and the others surrounded Kuang Wenjun and Pan Qiao. Gao Xiaoyan smiled, "So, you are dungeon players, eh? Your mission is to deliver the alien to W37, right? Don’t worry, I can accompany you."

It didn’t sound like good news at all. Shangguan Xi and the rest felt heavy-hearted, knowing they couldn’t leave at will which meant Gao Xiaoyan and others could easily control them. If it came to a fight, most likely they only had the option to fail the mission and leave.

"It’s still the same idea, losing a person doesn’t fit my plan," Xu Huo said with a slight smile, "Please spare him this favor, Miss Gao."

With a snap of her fingers, Gao Xiaoyan signaled the ponytailed men to back off, but they didn’t return the wristband to Zhu Feiyun.

"Let’s rest early tonight." Xu Huo wasn’t planning on using any prop tonight, and he took out two sleeping bags, giving one to Teacher Ai.

Teacher Ai, already physically exhausted, relaxed only after seeing the crisis averted and gratefully received the sleeping bag. "Could you give me a stamina supplement?"

Xu Huo handed him a bottle, "You don’t look so good."

"My body is too weak; I haven’t been able to exercise regularly," Teacher Ai gulped down the contents and closed his eyes as he collapsed into the sleeping bag, "I’ll be fine after some sleep."

"He should survive," Shangguan Xi moved closer to Xu Huo and whispered, "Brother Xu, if you become a teacher, could you take me with you?"

It seemed Gao Xiaoyan and her team could be key to triggering a branch mission.

"We’ll see," Xu Huo didn’t outright reject them and then said to Kuang Wenjun and the others, "We’ll all take a good rest when we get to W37."

Kuang Wenjun and her companions were quite surprised. Was he willing to take them along?

Kuang Wenjun glanced at Teacher Ai, her expression slightly relaxing, "Thank you."

Her stamina wasn’t great either, and soon she leaned against Pan Qiao and fell asleep—really asleep, unlike other players who seemed to sleep but remained vigilant.
