Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 921: Abandoning the Goal

Chapter 921: Chapter 921: Abandoning the Goal

First, the player "holding" the live sample was strong, but not too strong. Regardless of whether the other party used the sample as bait or had some other purpose, the number of players who died at his hands wasn’t high, and the intervals of time between deaths were quite long. This indicated that he couldn’t successfully kill many players in a short period of time.

This led to a second fact—the player couldn’t easily extricate himself from the current predicament.

If the purpose was just to kill a few people, there would be no need to spend a long time here. Whether the player controlling the live sample was a Rank-C Player or higher, at the very least they should be a mission player this time.

While Xu Huo was gathering information from other players, the baby-faced player, who had previously fled the scene, had already teamed up with two other players to try to approach the place isolated by other players.

According to descriptions from other players, anyone who got close to the building was automatically separated, especially those on the ground, which suggested that the aerially adept baby-faced player had a certain advantage.

Even though he had lost his Big Scythe, his Clown Suit was still intact.

After he bided his time, the vicinity of the building immediately descended into gravitational chaos when he approached again. The baby-faced player and the other two, taking advantage of the chaos, attacked the building from three different directions.

Under the influence of gravity, the metal object on top of the building shifted slightly from its position.

The baby-faced player could float up half the building, but his power had a greater effect on buildings than other objects within the chaotic area, including people.

Moving that piece of metal was somewhat strenuous, but this brief shift was enough to make quite a few players restless. In just a second or two, four figures emerged from the nearby building’s debris.

Including the three with the baby-faced player, seven players moved towards the building, each choosing a different direction. It was clear that some of them were using movement props, but they all stopped in front of the building, forced to halt at the entrance. Then, everyone, including the baby-faced player, froze in place at the same time:

The expansive ground, as if growing automatically, moved along with the building, pushing outwards in all directions. Even those players not touching the ground or any part of these buildings seemed to be on a moving walkway, finding themselves sent back 200 meters. What was strange was that the streets that seemed to grow out of the cracks didn’t disappear after the shift but instead laid there, real as ever!

None of the seven players managed to enter the building. Weighing their options, several of them quickly retreated from the building’s vicinity.

Xu Huo stood not too far away, having witnessed the entire process. This was definitely not an illusion, but a real space alteration. However, it wasn’t so much an extension of space itself as it was a kind of connection, as if a spatial rift had appeared, with the excess streets and buildings pouring out from the crack, of course, existing in reality.

This was a very potent Spatial Artifact, not just piecing together real spaces, but it also had the function of confining other similar props, which is why those players were all stopped at the door.

There were two ways to get through a Spatial Barrier like this: one was to use a targeted prop, and the other was to utilize abilities gained from Super Evolution to break through the barrier directly.

He circled around the building and quickly locked onto a position. "Towards the Destination" didn’t succeed in entering the building and was stopped at the entrance. As he emerged from the prop, he grabbed the invisible spatial lines with his bare hands and squeezed into the building. However, he was still within the prop’s control range. After moving just over ten meters, he was pushed out of the building by the emerging street, and the spatial restraint, imperceptible to others, was all too apparent to him.

This was the so-called rigidity feeling, even though outer forces were not felt, one felt as if stuck in mid-air. This was why the other players couldn’t move.

Seeing the swiftly moving building ahead, Xu Huo not so agilely adjusted his position and entered the building again, only to be expelled and moved back to a point 50 meters away. Then, his figure disappeared from the spot once more.

This time, he increased the distance of his movement and entered the building again, but he was still moving back and forth at the edge of the building.

It was possible to enter, but in less than two seconds, he would be moved out again. After several attempts, to avoid the building, his position had shifted from before. Meanwhile, other players also tried to break through, but sadly none succeeded, making his repeated attempts appear somewhat ludicrous.

To other players, the player controlling the sample couldn’t possibly stay here indefinitely. As long as the opponent needed to pass through the level, instead of exhausting oneself like Xu Huo, it was better to wait for the prey to come.

In just a few minutes, Xu Huo was drenched in sweat, his movements grew slower, and his complexion worsened. In his last few attempts, not only was he unable to enter the building, but he was also getting further away from it, unable to even reach the edge.

Realizing that a breakthrough was hopeless, he finally retreated reluctantly, gritting his teeth.

After his departure, some of the players surrounding the building also left. Some left because the spectacle was over, while others with ulterior motives followed Xu Huo.

However, Xu Huo, out of the public eye after entering an alley, briskly shook off his previous fatigue. Casting a cold glance at the tails following him, he used a prop to distance himself from them and then took out his Communicator to contact Shangguan Xi.

"I’m at the front gate... Brother Xu, did you get the sample?" Shangguan Xi asked with a touch of excitement.

"No." Xu Huo quickly doused his hopes, "Stay where you are and wait for me."

Shangguan Xi did not ask any further questions. After hanging up, Xu Huo stepped across space to deal with a tenacious Player pursuing him, resolving the matter quickly before turning back to look at the other two players pursuing from a different direction. His cold gaze made the two retreat without a fight.

The three who had followed him were merely hoping to reap rewards while he was weary; little did they know that this was also a baited trap. With one gone, the remaining two naturally left without any sentiment.

Once he confirmed the two had gone, Xu Huo then headed to the south gate to meet Shangguan Xi and Teacher Ai.

He immediately said upon meeting them, "The live sample in the building is unattainable; if we move fast, we might still catch up to the third live sample."

After they entered, their wristbands had shown only two live samples; the status of the third was unknown.

Shangguan Xi was not very sure and said tentatively, "With so many players lingering in W19, it’s not certain that the remaining live sample was taken away."

Xu Huo pointed with his chin towards the direction of the building, "It’s very unlikely that they could pull that off, and besides, there are so many players waiting for a share. It’s better to go after the third sample."

"Maybe arriving early at W37 could yield other gains."

Regardless of which player the live sample ended up with, ultimately everyone needed to head to W37; this line of thought wasn’t wrong.

"But we don’t have a car," Shangguan Xi gestured towards the person on his back, "I don’t want to carry him anymore. Let’s just kill him."
