Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 913: Life and Death

Chapter 913: Chapter 913: Life and Death

"Foot slip ahead," Shangguan Xi called out as she blocked the female player’s path, and sure enough, the running female player’s foot did slip, causing her to stagger forward. At that moment, with Shangguan Xi and the others in front of her and Xu Huo behind, it seemed pointless to run, so she stopped to negotiate:

"Ladies and gentlemen, there’s no past grudge or recent enmity between us, there’s no need to be so ruthless, right?"

Her gaze was anxious and uncertain, and actually, Shangguan Xi and the others were also unclear about the situation.

Xu Huo had acted so suddenly; since they were all teammates, no matter the reason, they had to help out, but by the time they realized what was happening, he’d already exchanged blows with Bald Head twice; the fight’s pace was too swift for them, just like Bald Head and his companions, they were a little slow to the uptake. Before they knew it, they saw him kill someone.

All this had taken only over ten seconds. Realizing they couldn’t help much, they simply stood by and watched, ready to join the fray later if needed.

Unfortunately, Xu Huo hadn’t given them the chance. Both the female player’s and Bald Head’s attacks and defenses were as brittle as paper, practically useless. It wasn’t that their props and characteristics were ineffective—spatial constraints and visual distractions were quite practical in combat—but it was clear that whether it was spatial manipulation or mental interference, Xu Huo’s side was on a whole other level. With neither the speed nor combat strength to dominate, the outcome was unsurprising.

Seeing him seemingly wanting to leave a survivor, Shangguan Xi and the others half-heartedly moved forward to block.

Xu Huo pointed to his neck, "Where did you get that sunshade cloth from?"

The female player responded with composure, "It’s just a piece of sunshade cloth; I took it from a corpse."

Ding Wei recognized the sunshade cloth, "That looks like Gao Chunling’s."

Shangguan Xi turned to the female player, "Are Gao Chunfeng and the others dead?"

"So you knew them?" the female player looked at them in surprise, "Then that’s truly regrettable. By the time I encountered them, they were already dead..."

She paused before looking at Xu Huo, "You suspect that I..."

Before she could finish, the cold Sword touched her face, and a trickle of fresh blood ran down the blade. The female player looked up to meet the man’s eyes, devoid of any kindness, "Think carefully before you speak, how did they die?"

The female player’s forehead broke out in a cold sweat, and her pupils began to tremble. She opened her mouth several times before closing it again, eventually, the fear in her eyes changed to a fierce resolve, but she did not make a move, because Xu Huo had stepped back at that moment.

The female player was sealed inside a transparent Spatial Artifact, and as the space shrank, the oxygen inside began to decrease, too. Of course, she could forcefully break through this Spatial Prop, but unfortunately, she was now severely poisoned and unable to control her limbs.

"How did they die?" Xu Huo stood outside and asked.

The female player held on for two minutes before spitting it out.

The people were indeed killed by them.

Lacking transport, Gao Chunfeng had bought a simple Levitation Prop from Shangguan Xi, carried by Gao Chunling as they left, with the three children following, trekking towards Base W37 City.

Bald Head and a few others came from another direction. After traveling some distance, Big Beard, who was looking to relieve his boredom with a little girl, doubled back and surrounded the few of them.

For a few people to handle a player with missing limbs was easy, and Gao Chunfeng could have escaped into the game, but he gave up for his family’s sake. After kneeling and begging for mercy, he was toyed with by the group, cutting off his feet, Gao Chunling was killed on the spot, and the two young girls did not escape a cruel fate.

Bald Head thought about selling them to other Base Cities, not immediately killing them, but the female player, in searching their bodies, was bitten and, in a fit of rage, killed the two.

Gao Chunfeng was also beheaded.

"I didn’t want to kill them..." the female player tried to explain, "I just took a lollipop... How dare she bite me..."

The deeply poisoned person convulsed and babbled out some words, giving a basic account of what had occurred.

The few people present said nothing, silently watching the female player suffer in pain until she drew her last breath.

"I knew it would be this way," Ding Wei finally said after a while: "Saving them temporarily doesn’t save them for a lifetime; with their situation, even if they didn’t die in the desert today, they’d still die in some other way tomorrow. The game world is that cruel."

Shangguan Xi clenched her fist, "Aren’t players fighting desperately in the game precisely to prevent their families from ending up in this situation one day?"

"It’s too bad for Gao Chunfeng. If he had endured a little longer, waited until he was a bit stronger, he might have made it to W37," Zhao Jiahua sighed.

"Should we go back and take a look?" Shangguan Xi asked Xu Huo, it would be decent to collect their remains.

"Killing these people is enough," Xu Huo took the props worn on the bodies and poured a Potion over them.

The vehicle resumed its journey, and the radar sounded an alarm signaling the approach of Aliens. Within mere seconds, a score of Aliens sprinted from different directions, rushing into the pile of mining debris and ripping it apart.

Watching the limbs scatter, a tinge of satisfaction crossed the faces of those in the vehicle.

"The factional power in this sector is too weak; those living here can only become the prey of players from the outer areas," Teacher Ai spoke calmly.

If Base W37 City were not in such a broken state today, players from the outer areas certainly wouldn’t dare to kill so carelessly. In some of the larger game sectors, even Advanced Players would need to keep their heads down!

"Actually, all the sectors are more or less the same," Shangguan Xi said cryptically: "I’ve been to a sector where trading in human lives is legal, where some kids are merchandise from embryo onwards, possibly sent to hospitals, restaurants, or auction houses."

"It’s laughable that this involves genetic screening and special customized packages."

"Whether an ordinary person in a sector can live like a human depends on the strength and conscience of the players," Zhao Jiahua spoke: "Only the strong players can settle in those coveted sectors. We still have a long way to go."

"Is there something wrong with the vehicle?" Xu Huo suddenly looked at Teacher Ai, "We’ve been going around in circles for five minutes."

Teacher Ai paused, quickly checking the control panel, "No indication from the instruments, navigation shows it’s normal."

"Could this be an ambush?" Shangguan Xi, sitting by the window, opened the door and threw out a marker, "Let’s go a bit further and see."

The vehicle accelerated for a while before returning to the side of the marker.

"It’s probably a Spatial Prop," Shangguan Xi frowned, "Invisible boundaries, visual interference perhaps?"

Ding Wei wielding a Prop said, "The prop’s indication shows no borders."

"Could it be affecting the props too?" Zhao Jiahua also released a robotic bug, "If it can interfere with the vehicle’s instruments, using basic machinery like this is best. Follow it."

Teacher Ai looked to Xu Huo, and upon seeing his nod, increased the energy source and slowly followed the robotic bug.

Xu Huo estimated the vehicle’s circling range and waited until the vehicle was at an appropriate distance before speaking, "I will go out and have a look."
