Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 598: Overwhelming Force

Chapter 598: Chapter 598: Overwhelming Force

"Too arrogant!" A player from Brother Liang’s team leaped onto the pier leading to the center of the lake, using a Shield Prop to block the incoming bullets. He charged through two-thirds of the distance in one breath and then hurled a metal bomb towards the center of the lake. As the purple smoke sprayed out, the two gun-toting Persons in Black Robes directly in front of him were knocked unconscious by the fumes.

However, just as he was about to reach the lakeside clubhouse, two grenades flew from afar and exploded directly on the pier. The tremendous impact sent him and his prop flying several meters away, and before he could land, another vicious barrage of gunfire came from the clubhouse on the lake!

"Dazzling!" Two players from the lakeshore advanced to rescue, one throwing a Flash Ball to disrupt the others’ vision while the other caught the person, stomped on the ground, and rapidly raised the planks of the pier to become multiple layers of shields in front of them, barely withstanding the onslaught.

Meanwhile, several players from Brother Liang’s team who arrived later ran into people from the First Association who had come to rescue Tan Yang right by the lake, and both sides launched an attack from the other side of the lakeshore, instantly drawing away some of the firepower.

Another round of dense gunfire and powerful grenades followed, and the attacks launched from both sides of the lake failed mid-way, not even reaching the lakeside clubhouse, let alone rescuing anyone!

"The firepower is too fierce!" On Xu Huo’s side, the three players managed to escape unscathed, except for the one who went out first and was stabbed by shrapnel. However, thanks to his enhanced body and a timely dose of a Self-Healing Potion, the bleeding stopped, and it was not a big deal.

"How are we going to get across?" Huang Junjie had already spotted Tan Yang and Pu Kang. "Among those at the table, there should be Sima Xiao’er, but who knows if he’s dead or alive."

"He’s alive." Xu Huo stood behind a tree, observing the situation at the lakeside clubhouse.

The clubhouse was more than seventy meters away from the lakeshore and had already exceeded the effective range of ordinary props. To fight for real, the players on the lakeshore would have to charge into the clubhouse.

There were only four walkways around the clubhouse, and even though most players had evolved, they couldn’t freely walk in the air or on the water. Most still needed to use the walkways. The Twin Snakes players suppressed with firepower, and since they didn’t have any consumption-type traits or props, casualties would likely occur soon after the two sides began their tug-of-war.

Moreover, the Twin Snakes had more players than the lakeshore, and if they couldn’t turn the situation around quickly but allowed the guns and ammunition to deplete the lake players’ props and traits, it would be tough to safely retreat when the time came.

"The First Association only sent these few people?" Xiao Zhang and his companion had been on the phone, and he looked incredulously at Huang Junjie, "The First Association is said to have hundreds of players!"

Huang Junjie’s face turned sour, "I don’t have real power within the association; I can’t have a say."

Dependent solely on the personal charisma of Tan Yang and a few others, only the earliest group of players had gathered. The core members who went to Hua City with Tan Yang to court Xu Huo were from that group, and only they had a bond of shared adversity with him. The others, including those who joined later, came mostly for the fame of the First Association. These people also had their small cliques and might not risk their lives to save someone, even if they felt loyal to the First Association. Just their attendance was fortunate.

To put it unpleasantly, if Tan Yang died, there would be plenty of people waiting to take over.

"It’s no use talking about this now," Abel said. "We should think about practical matters. Either we break through, or we retreat, otherwise, once we run out of props, we won’t be able to escape even if we want to."

The shooting from the clubhouse on the lake paused, and the sound of changing magazines was heard. The players ambushed around then saw a group of Persons in Black Robes dragging several boxes of ammunition... a good opportunity!

Simultaneously, several players moved from different directions, a fireball dropped from the sky, quickly smashing towards the ammunition boxes, and at the same time, a Person in Black Robe standing nearby suddenly turned and shot at the ammunition boxes, causing the guns in the hands of several Persons in Black Robes nearby to explode!

The chaos at the lakeside clubhouse began to intensify, and other players saw an opportunity and started emerging from behind the trees. However, in just a few seconds, a person in a gray robe appeared by the ammo box. With a cross of his hands, a row of silver metal barriers sprang up around the ammo box, and then, with a raise of his hand, the fireball burst into fireworks mid-flight.

That wasn’t the end of it. The gray-robed person took a quick step towards the lake, hoisted up a device resembling an extraction pump and plunged it into the water. With a thunderous noise, waves surged up at a spot more than ten meters away from him as if a large fish had passed beneath, and then the person in gray robe lifted the extraction pump to reveal it was impaled with a person!

The player struggled for a moment with his legs flailing before he disappeared, and the person in gray robe packed up the equipment. At his command, the people in black robe surrounding the clubhouse began shooting wildly at the players on the lakeshore. A few were taken down, and others quickly took their places.

Meanwhile, a rumbling noise came from the distant sky—several armed helicopters!

Neither the First Association nor Brother Liang could afford such a show of force, and considering how lavishly Twin Snakes had been tossing ammo around as if it were pebbles, it was clear they had extraordinary backing. These helicopters—no need to guess whose reinforcements they were!

"No wonder Twin Snakes were able to grow so quickly, without us catching even a trace of them..." Tan Yang felt a chill in his heart and turned to look at the smug Master Qiu. "You’re massacring players without fear of attracting the Special Defense Department’s attention? Players are currently the nation’s most important assets."

Master Qiu laughed and slapped the table. "Our country isn’t short on anything, especially not people. A few dead players won’t hinder anyone."

"Furthermore, this bunch has been foolish enough to oppose Twin Snakes and meddle with my affairs. They deserve to die."

Talking about human lives as if they were nothing, Master Qiu said to the people in gray robes outside, "Hurry up and finish this, I want to eat."

There were a total of ten people in gray robes at the lakeside clubhouse, initially all congregated around Master Qiu. Two had left earlier, and now, hearing his command, four more stepped out of the clubhouse. Six of them, under the cover of those in black robes, headed towards the lakeshore.

Huang Junjie saw the two gray-robed individuals heading in his direction and backed away in fear: "They’re definitely well-trained, experienced, and well-equipped. We’re no match for them!"

The few players with him were losing their nerve, but Xiao Zhang and the others charged forward fearlessly. Guan Zuhong clapped his hands on the ground, and the mud rose to ensnare the feet of the gray-robed individuals who had just reached the shore. Then Xiao Zhang threw a Flash Ball, "Absolute Focus!"

The Flash Ball flew between the two gray-robed individuals, drawing their eyes involuntarily as they followed its path. Meanwhile, the other players attacked from both sides, aiming for the gray-robed persons’ backs!

Sadly, their coordinated attack didn’t work; the gray-robed adversaries quickly shook off the effects of their traits and equips. One grabbed a fan and scattered the nearing players into disarray with a powerful gust, while the other pulled out a gun.

The players stabilized themselves against the strong wind, eager to attempt another strike, but the gun-wielding person in gray robe attached a strange piece of equipment to the firearm that gave the bullets the power of bombs, critically injuring two players instantly!

Guan Zuhong, seeing this, threw a rope to bind the two injured players, dragging them back. However, the two gray-robed figures clearly didn’t plan on letting them go and, breaking free from the mud, chased after them!

"Quick, help!" Xiao Zhang shouted while turning back, but the players from the First Association had already retreated far. Although Huang Junjie and Abel hadn’t left, they stood idly by, their attention partly on Xu Huo. They grew anxious as he hesitated to act. As Xu Huo had been watching the helicopters in the distance, he finally stepped out from behind a tree, "It’s about time."
