Xu Huo told her about the place; he was going to Water City in a couple of days to attend a meeting of the Twin Snakes Organization and invited her to join him.

Yan Jiayu agreed readily and only hung up after they set a time and place to meet.

"Now there’s one more person." Sima Xiao’er said dejectedly, "Brother Xu, one invitation can only bring two people."

Guan Sheng and Qian Xuwen were already taking up two spots.

"Then we’ll get two more invitations." Xu Huo stopped Qian Xuwen’s action and sent a message to Brother Liang asking if there were any extra invitations, then added, "Without going through the Special Defense Department."

Guan and Qian had already received orders from Chief Wu before coming. Their main task was to support Xu Huo’s actions, to observe and listen more, and not to act on their own for anything else.

Brother Liang replied quickly. They had three invitations in total and could bring six people, with a maximum of two spots for him.

Later, the Girl in the painting also arrived in Yang City. After another two days, the group set off for Water City, to the place designated on the invitation.

Before this, the people from the Special Defense Department had already investigated the site of the meeting, which was an abandoned old factory district yet to be fully demolished. Many people were watching it, but so far nothing unusual had been spotted.

Being cautious, Xu Huo did not meet Brother Liang and the others. He split from Sima Xiao’er and Zhou Ning before entering Water City, accompanied by Guan and Qian.

After finding a hotel to stay in, he contacted Yan Jiayu again, instructing her to meet directly with Brother Liang.

Only at the time of the meeting did they set off for the factory district from different directions.

It was Brother Liang and a few others, with Yan Jiayu and her three following behind an invited player, also pretending not to recognize each other.

More people trickled in until at one o’clock at night, three players in black robes and hoods came out of the factory, carrying three boxes to a halt. The one in the middle said, "Please come forward with your invitations, the meeting is about to start."

The players around looked at each other and hesitated to move forward. After a few seconds, Yan Jiayu subtly signaled towards Xu Huo and then pushed the person with Brother Liang forward.

After checking the invitations, the person in the black robe handed each of them a bottle of Evolution Potion and instructed them to enter the factory behind them.

The Evolution Potion was immensely tempting to ordinary players, but the Person in Black Robe wasn’t afraid it would be snatched away. It had the air of a cult about it.

"In addition, Twin Snakes has a rule, an invitation can only bring two companions. Those who brought extra people, please leave voluntarily. This held the weaknesses of many players; most were there for that very purpose. Yet there were some who didn’t believe in curses and brazenly said, "Only the three of you are leading the way? We have many more players here!"

The implication was that they could be led by volunteers as well.

The Person in Black Robe smiled, "We are only guides. Not all the players attending the gathering are from Twin Snakes. If you break the rules, naturally, someone will spread the word. Friend, since everyone is heading the same way, don’t delay everyone’s business for your sake."

"Exactly!" someone chimed in from the side, "You’re not scared, are you? Ha ha!"

"What a coward!"

The challenged player angrily came forward. After the Person in Black Robe saw him, he pointed to a spot in the middle for him and his two companions hustled ahead of Yan Jiayu’s trio and went inside.

After they entered, people gradually came forward, but some were directed to the three adjacent factory buildings.

"Why are they being separated?" a player asked.

"The real gathering place isn’t here," the Person in Black Robe explained. "To avoid drawing attention, we need to walk separately."

The four rooms, with around seventy to eighty people, were almost evenly split, with about twenty players each. No one seemed overly concerned; many complained about the long wait.

Xu Huo walked in last. He handed over his invitation and saw that the other person merely took it, placed it aside, handed him an Evolution Potion, then directed him to the factory building where Yan Jiayu was waiting.

Once all the players were assigned, the three Persons in Black Robe each entered a different room, leading them deeper inside the buildings.

With four rooms and three guides, one person led the attendees from two rooms, saying, "We have too many visitors today, and we’re short on staff. Someone will come to meet you later, for now, please follow me."

And so, Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu ended up in the same group, while Brother Liang and his other companion were separated.

All three groups left the factory buildings, each in a different direction. Xu Huo and the others were led into an underground basement of one factory building. Surprisingly, there was a passage there. The Person in Black Robe said, "It’s safer to leave from here. After you exit, take the car and leave."

No one had any objections. They filed in one after another, following the Person in Black Robe out of the tunnel. Sure enough, there were cars waiting outside. Once everyone was aboard, the Person in Black Robe produced a row of masks of different colors but the same design for them to choose from at will.

Red, black, white, blue, green, yellow—six colors to choose from. Xu Huo picked a black one, and Yan Jiayu, in a rather coordinated choice, picked a white one.

Now, all the players in the car wore the same mask. When they got off the bus, they received identical black robes to wear, making it difficult to distinguish one from another.

"What’s all this nonsense?" The player who had been looking for trouble was furious, "All this secretive crap, have we arrived or what?"

"We have, we have," the Person in Black Robe said cheerfully. "This is the place."

Everyone turned to look and realized that the car had delivered them to a yet-to-be-opened vacation resort. The resort’s basic facilities were already complete. Walking in, they could see a lush eco-building. Across the lake, they saw a group of similarly dressed people walking towards the building, with the Person in Black Robe at the front waving towards them.

"It’s the other two groups of players," Guan Sheng said.
