The ground appeared somewhat distorted under the relentless high heat, with several corpses lying dead with their eyes wide open. Xu Huo went over to decapitate Gao Peng, casually wrapped his head in his protective suit, and then turned to look for the two children.

Xu Huo told them to wrap their heads and shoulders in the protective suits and then gave each of them a lollipop before he carried Gao Peng’s head toward the stronghold in the commercial building.

The lookout in the distance had long since gone back to report, so when he led the children there, the doors were tightly shut. There was no chance of anyone coming out to avenge Gao Peng and his companions, not even a face to be seen.

Xu Huo briefly sensed the positions of the people inside, not wasting any time. Just as the "Life Core" finished cleaning, he pocketed it and approached the entrance. With a raise of his hand, Gao Peng’s head rolled into the room.

"Big Brother!" The man with the shaved head instantly raised his gun, but in the next second, he burst into flames, screaming and wailing as he rolled on the ground.

Xu Huo did not stop others from helping him put out the fire, simply saying, "I won’t repeat what I just said. If you want to live, call the others down."

A young man behind Master Tu glared at him with hatred, "You killed Brother Gao and the others. Do you expect us to believe you won’t settle the score with us? You’re probably planning to use us all as food!"

Xu Huo saw that this group didn’t react strongly to the idea of "eating people," which showed they had fully accepted this reality. He also understood they knew what they were doing, sans any sense of regret, guilt, or self-loathing; they were just worried they might end up like the aliens beneath the fissures, becoming someone else’s meal.

"I’m not interested in you," Xu Huo said with a hint of irony. "Relying on aliens to sustain your life, how can I be sure you haven’t been infected?"

Upon hearing this, Master Tu and the others felt relieved. They were, however, hesitant about releasing Zhuo Wangsun.

"It doesn’t matter. When I choose to act, you might as well use him to take a bullet for you," Xu Huo said indifferently.

This caused Zhuo Wangsun, who had been showing signs of joy and gratitude, to quickly lose his smile. Fortunately, Master Tu and the others had a plan and still released him, showing genuine sincerity in their release to Xu Huo.

Most of the people stayed on the first floor while Xu Huo took Fish Ball and Ice Cream up to the second floor.

The second floor was cluttered with boxes that had clearly been packed in a hurry. He noticed some of them were specially made, so he asked Master Tu what they were.

Master Tu opened the boxes one by one, revealing vials containing water, blood, and some plant specimens preserved in special ways, all labeled with dates.

"As you see, the root cause of the Cleansing Zone lies in the mutation of the land. If the source is not resolved, this place will never disappear. Even if all the aliens are killed, the city cannot be rebuilt. That’s why I’ve collected these data, planning to take them outside," explained Master Tu.

Xu Huo left the two children with Zhuo Wangsun to watch over them and took a vial of alien blood, "Is there any laboratory equipment here? What’s the difference between alien blood and human blood?"

"The blood shows signs of infection," Master Tu said. "But the equipment here is incomplete and outdated. My knowledge in this area is not strong, so I can’t determine which pathogen it is."
