"I didn’t prepare food and water," Xu Huo continued.

Yue Weiping and the others looked at him simultaneously, with a mix of doubt and anger.

Xu Huo knew what they were thinking, so he explained, "I went straight to Clown City after coming out of another copy; I didn’t have time to prepare these things."

Liang Song stopped Yue Weiping, who was about to speak, and said, "Then we need to find a way to gather more food and water sources."

Xu Huo’s luggage compartment was contaminated, and it could only hold limited items, but he didn’t elaborate.

"Looking for more food and water sources means we’ll have to rob others, right?" Yi Mao’s voice was slightly heavy.

"There’s no other way," Liang Song replied. "If we don’t rob others, they will rob us, and the longer the time passes, the fewer the supplies will become."

It meant they needed to find more food and water as soon as possible.

Yi Mao didn’t speak. Although his eyes were not visible, one could tell from the lower half of his face that he didn’t agree with this approach.

"We don’t necessarily have to kill people just by taking their food and water," Yue Weiping said. "Besides, they have no idea that using the cleaning supplies will cause issues, and the little they carry is not enough to last, so sooner or later..."

"In such a situation, shouldn’t we tell the truth to the other warriors?" Yi Mao suddenly exclaimed angrily. "Many people come here to reclaim their homeland!"

Yue Weiping felt somewhat embarrassed, but he quickly added, "What’s the point in saying these things if we can’t survive? Once we let out this piece of information, forget about the cleaning mission; I’m afraid everyone will spend the rest of their time fighting over water and resources until they self-destruct!"

What Yue Weiping said addressed the realistic issue. Although Yi Mao couldn’t reconcile his conscience, he understood that revealing the information would double the risks he had to assume. Thus, his earlier words were not only for others to hear but also a self-reproach and question to himself.

Xu Huo made no statement on the issue. After a long silence, he reminded them that it was time to set off.

He and Jin Dong walked in front, Liang Song and Yue Weiping exchanged glances, with Liang Song leading the way, followed by Yi Mao and Wan Xiao, and Yue Weiping at the rear.

Jin Dong was referring to a steep mountain trail that was difficult to navigate, but if they managed to cross it successfully, they could save one-third of the time from the original plan.

Midway, Yi Mao, who was at the back, suddenly sat down, removed his mask, and began to breathe heavily, "Don’t you feel it’s hard to breathe?"

The others looked in the direction he was pointing and realized that an unknown number of aliens had hidden in the thick grass on the steep slope. After spotting them, the creatures started to climb along the mountain stream, rushing towards the group at an extremely fast pace!

"Bang Bang!" Yi Mao was the first to fire his gun, stating angrily, "Kill all these monsters!"

Their position was unsuitable for combat. Making any significant movements while shooting could easily result in losing balance, let alone engaging in close-quarters combat with the aliens. After firing a few desperate shots, they could only run for their lives, trying to break through. Realizing they couldn’t escape, they turned back the way they came.

The group fired as they retreated, quickly running out of bullets. Cornered on a slope, Yue Weiping got a gash on his arm while trying to save Yi Mao. The wound soon turned black.

"Poisonous!"

Xu Huo timely threw a bottle of antitoxin to him, "It’s the same one Jin Dong used; whether it can cure the poison depends on your luck."

"Thanks!" Yue Weiping drank it and said, "You guys go ahead, I’ll cover the rear!"

"Wei Ping!" Liang Song refused to leave his brother behind, but Yue Weiping said, "I’m already injured; what’s the difference between one more wound and two? You absolutely can’t die here. If I have bad luck and don’t make it, please take care of my family for me!"

"I won’t leave!" At this moment, Yi Mao freed himself from Liang Song’s grip and charged forward, setting up his submachine gun to fire. "Kill the aliens, avenge our compatriots!" he exclaimed.

Wan Xiao was equally agitated.

Clearly, something was wrong with these two; Xu Huo simply knocked them out and handed them to Liang Song. After they had gained some distance, he took out an energy cannon barrel and quickly assembled it. He then pulled the trigger halfway up the mountainside, and with a loud boom, an avalanche of rocks tumbled down from above!

The cascade of rocks and dirt soon reached the path they were on. Xu Huo, holding onto a tightrope, rose into the air and conveniently took out two aliens that had escaped the falling rocks. The rest of the group in front stopped and turned back to ask the person catching up, "Are they all dead?"

"They’re not dead! There’re even more below!" Xu Huo answered while sprinting at full speed. Only a part had been covered by the fallen rocks. Who would have thought that it was a veritable hornet’s nest below? Once the rock fell, within just a few seconds, a swarm of aliens poured out!

Liang Song and Yue Weiping were about to take issue with Jin Dong when they saw a teeming mass of creatures in the valley below. Their scalps tingling with fear, they hoisted Yi Mao and Wan Xiao onto their shoulders and ran!

Jin Dong probably hadn’t expected such a turn of events; he ran behind the group, glancing back in disbelief as more and more aliens surged from the valley below. He was momentarily dumbfounded, nearly falling behind when suddenly a line flew towards him, piercing his abdomen. As if he had lost his weight, he was pulled up by the line, narrowly avoiding an alien that almost caught him!

Liang Song and Yue Weiping were also struggling. Dealing with the aliens was already difficult enough, let alone carrying an unconscious person. Both used all their gadgets and abilities, but the number of aliens was simply overwhelming. In their moment of desperation, Liang Song called out to Xu Huo for help, "Old Wu, my brother! Think of something fast, or we’re all going to die!"

Xu Huo led the way in front, and although the jungle was dense with trees and undergrowth, the Different Species Group was like a swarm of locusts. There was no hiding in corners or rock cavities. Climbing trees wouldn’t work either, as the aliens could follow. Liang Song, carrying Yi Mao, had tried this but was attacked by an alien that leaped up before he could climb. If not for his quick reflexes, both would have been killed by the aliens then and there. Although Liang Song was a Level D Player, even slicing his hand off wouldn’t allow him to kill so many aliens with just a knife.

In their helpless state, the two who were awake had suffered injuries, and the two who were unconscious had been stirred awake by their wounds. Whether it was the pain or the sight of the overwhelming alien swarm that shocked them, they lost their previous disregard for death. They didn’t dare to touch the ground, choosing instead to shoot and kill the aliens that were within an arm’s reach, allowing Liang Song and Yue Weiping to focus on finding a way out.
