Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 520: Three-Dimensional City

Chapter 520: Chapter 520: Three-Dimensional City

By this point, Xu Huo had not asked any other questions, and the other three didn’t say anything further. As a benefit of joining the team, Yi Mao distributed a miniature bomb and a medical pack to each of them, which included items such as antitoxin and self-healing potions.

During the preparation time, Yi Mao pulled in two more players to join the team. Once the team members were mostly ready, they boarded a vehicle and headed to the protective wall.

Once they left the venue, Xu Huo finally got a chance to see what Clown City looked like. Unlike the superficially bustling Brick Tale Town Station and its excessively enthusiastic approach to life, Clown City seemed quite ordinary, ordinary like Ting City. After the vehicle left, pedestrians on the street would still come over waving Clown City flags to see them off.

The big difference was the architecture. The city’s construction had a futuristic city appearance, looking upward one could see the crisscrossing circular tracks and round public areas, tier upon tier, giving an overall impression of blooming lotuses of varying heights. Some buildings that spanned the height of the entire city acted as the central pillars.

In other words, Clown City was layered.

Xu Huo and the others had come out from a venue on the Third Layer. As they passed through the circular tracks, they could see the layers below from the side.

The public areas or residences of the upper and lower layers were staggered, with only about a dozen support columns that had climbing tracks on both ends, weaving through the various layers of the city.

"The buildings here are so tall," remarked the female player, "so many are above fifty stories. The central building of the city is the tallest, reaching three hundred stories. Back in my hometown, I wouldn’t even dare to dream of such a thing."

"But the design here is very reasonable," said Zhuo Wangsun. "Constructing the city like this alleviates overcrowding due to excessive population. By having staggered levels, it spreads out the flow of people, which maximizes greening, improves traffic tracks, and enhances living comfort."

Siming, however, seemed a bit worried, "The technology of Clown City is far beyond my hometown. If they can’t even kill the aliens with this, I’m afraid the situation outside the wall is not good."

"Don’t be a coward, bro!" said the male player who had joined the team last, "With such a generous reward, how could there not be risks? We are going to capture an alien, one million White Bills, and each of us could get at least a share of tens of thousands."

Zhuo Wangsun looked at Yi Mao in surprise, who nodded and said, "Exactly what Kang Yongjie said. If we can capture an alien alive, I’ll represent the team and claim the honor, but the money will be yours. As for my people, don’t worry about them, they’re hired by me, and I will take care of their compensation."

"Generous, Brother Yi!" Kang Yongjie gave a thumbs up.

The female player sitting beside him introduced herself with a smile, "My name is Hao Mei, what do you all go by?"

Zhuo Wangsun and the three others gave their nicknames, and Xu Huo coined the name "Old Wu" for himself.

On Yi Mao’s side, the two players were named Yue Weiping and Liang Song, the latter being a Level D Player. Additionally noticeable was a doctor named Wan Xiao.

He not only looked down on Xu Huo and the others but also spoke to his own two players with veiled criticism.

However, Yi Mao was tolerant of him, and since no one else in his company said anything, Kang Yongjie, looking dissatisfied, was stopped by Hao Mei.

This scenario was set in a technologically advanced copy space, so ordinary people could also access evolution potions and items, except they did not have a game panel, meaning they carried all the items with them.

Xu Huo took a brief look at these people and knew that the level of the items they were carrying was not high, which was clearly not normal.

Naturally, the task of cleaning up Clown City was filled with incongruities at every turn; the scarcity of players and higher-level players in the venue was not unusual.

Through conversations with the others, Xu Huo roughly understood Yi Mao’s family background. Yi Mao was a resident of the Third Layer of Clown City, his family ran a martial arts training institution and was fairly well-off. Hiring people to accompany him on the cleaning mission was mainly aimed at accomplishing a feat to move up.

Without the local networking device, Xu Huo couldn’t check the social structure of Clown City for the time being, but from everyone’s conversations, Clown City wasn’t a strictly stratified place. Regardless of whether one lived on top or at the bottom, they could enjoy ample benefits and the principle of "more work for the competent" was upheld. If one had the skills, they could contribute more to the city, and if not, they could receive benefits. If someone had thick skin, they might not have to work their whole life.

"That’s so nice," the female player said enviously. "If it were me, I would definitely be able to stay at home forever."

Wan Xiao swept a cold glance at her and said, "There are hardly any people like that in Clown City. Even those unable to create social value can gain social recognition by having more children."

"With each higher layer, the social benefits get better," Zhuo Wangsun obviously had a basic understanding of Clown City. "And social status is different too. Generally, the higher a person’s social status, the better the evolution potions they can obtain."

"So it’s about resource distribution," Siming sighed. "I didn’t expect that non-players would also frequently take risks for evolution potions."

"Everyone should have higher pursuits," said Yi Mao with a smile. "Besides, this is also for the better maintenance of Clown City."

His companions didn’t seem to care, but to the players, these overly grandiose words were indeed embarrassingly hollow. It was unclear whether he was genuinely noble or just self-aggrandizing.

The atmosphere remained cool all the way to the protective wall.

With so many towering buildings, Clown City’s protective wall was also frighteningly high, standing there almost indistinguishable from a mountain. Each layer had a transportation track linking to the wall, and through specially designed gates on the wall, one could pass through to the clearing zone outside.

Every warrior going inside would pass through an electronic confirmation station, which locked the person and their holographic glasses together. This way, the completion of the mission would not be delayed, and every warrior’s combat situation could be recorded.

"This gadget is mostly to confirm whether someone is dead or not, right?" the female player whispered, tapping on the device on her head.

"Move forward!" a staff member urged them on with a stern face.

People from the venue were directed to three different entrances. After the holographic glasses locked on, the warriors forming the teams could go and receive the clearing maps—the clearing area was quite large, and each team was responsible for different parts of it.

Since Xu Huo’s team was larger, their clearing range was correspondingly increased. Others were typically groups of seven or eight, and there were also groups of two or three, but those with too few members generally did not receive a map. These people were apparently not there for the clearing task and could freely choose to go anywhere.

"That’s really careless," Kang Yongjie grimaced.

Xu Huo also finished looking at the map uploaded to his glasses. Aside from basic topographic markers and a few danger zone warnings, there was nothing detailed, and there was no indication of the range where aliens frequently moved.

"Why isn’t there any indication of what resources we need to find?" the female player asked.
