Chapter 516: Chapter 516 Timing
Yuguo said this to test Bai Kou, but her expression didn’t change. She replied indifferently, "If you can make it out alive, turning Zone 011 into a plague-ridden land is also fine."
As her words fell, she snapped her fingers, and the metal that had clung to the hospital walls contracted swiftly, converging into elongated bars shooting toward Yuguo and the Whale from every direction!
"Ha!" the Whale shouted, grabbing a locomotive engine with one hand and swinging it forcefully, knocking all the metal bars aside. The metal wasn’t solid, though; upon impact, it immediately turned into a puddle and splattered onto the locomotive, then began to wrap around towards the center, gradually forming a giant sphere.
"Get out quick!" Yuguo warned the Whale, who continued to fling the discolored locomotive, striking the curved metal, but only managing to dent it. So, he changed directions, stood the locomotive straight up, and broke out just before the metallic sphere could close in.
However, Bai Kou was already waiting for them above. She stretched out her hand, and the ring on her index finger sparkled. The light enveloped the two, and the locomotive in the Whale’s hand immediately became a heavy dead weight, brutally pressing down on his head.
The Whale, tilting his neck, hefted the locomotive onto his shoulder and successfully escaped the spherical enclosure, but he was now being crushed under Bai Kou’s foot, along with the locomotive.
Looking up, Yuguo rubbed his pitch-black arm underneath the locomotive, and the black bacteria instantly crawled up.
The Whale was wearing special protective gear and gloves, ignoring the threat of the bacteria, and Bai Kou, still in her dress, appeared highly susceptible to infection.
Unfortunately, before the bacteria could even reach the hem of her dress, they were pushed back by an invisible force. Bai Kou lowered her right hand as if compressing the air into strength. If it weren’t for the bacteria forming a flat surface, there would have been no trace of her action!
Both the Whale and Yuguo below were shocked, because there was a Super Prop in the space and the effect of Space-Time Items was suppressed; they couldn’t use theirs, and Bai Kou couldn’t either. Of course, that Super Prop could also belong to Bai Kou, but using it to control such a small area seemed like overkill, and Super Props would either attack unnoticed or bring visible catastrophe...
Therefore, the probability of Bai Kou’s action being a special trait or Super Evolution was quite high.
After so many encounters, both sides had a basic understanding of each other. Bai Kou was skilled with metal, often using it in combat, suggesting a high probability related to her trait. Besides, she had undergone Super Evolution on a mental level, a sort of self-control Super Evolution. Neither area seemed to involve gas control, and excluding the Props made Super Evolution the likely culprit.
The worst-case scenario was that Bai Kou was an advanced player who had undergone Super Evolution in multiple aspects.
With this realization, the Whale threw the locomotive with all his might, then grabbed Yuguo and dashed away. They hadn’t run far when they abruptly hit something in mid-air, got pushed back, and only broke through on the second collision.
Watching the two flee, a flash of pain crossed Bai Kou’s face, but she quickly pursued them.
The two sides fought all the way to the first floor, affecting much more than just the Red Bracelet and Black Bracelet members who were already nearby, including Ashis Verna’s few high-level players—these people were now engrossed in an internal strife, fighting to the point of no return. Mona Doug’s side was at a disadvantage; she exchanged glances with her teammate Veyson Meni, and took out a palm-sized spike, which was black all over and looked like it was made of metal, but upon closer inspection, there were countless bug-like creatures wriggling on it.
Mona Doug aimed the black spike at Ashis Verna and smeared some blood on it, blood that clearly wasn’t her own, and said, "Target name: Ashis Verna, identification mark: blood, mission objective: kill the target."
As soon as she finished speaking, the black spike took on a life of its own and flew towards Ashis Verna. When Ashis saw Mona Doug smear the collected blood on the black spike, his expression subtly changed. He took out a glowing metal triangle and threw it: "Destroy everything!"
Of course, this wasn’t truly capable of destroying everything; after the glowing triangle was thrown, it started to automatically destroy the Seventeenth Hospital—Ashis was attempting to forcibly destroy the game area to exit the instance.
At the same time, the black spike reached him in no time. Remote defense props, special attributes, and weapons with strong killing power seemed as fragile as paper before it, not only failing to have any effect but also being destroyed effortlessly.
Ashis used a prop to dodge elsewhere, but the black spike seemed to have tracking capabilities and instantly caught up with him again, relentless in its pursuit to kill him.
His companions, the curly-haired noble Kage Herta and the freckled noble Lynn Oz, stepped in to intercept, but after failing to do so twice, they were dragged into a fight by Mona Doug’s teammates.
The glowing triangle was continuously breaking walls, with half of the floor teetering on the brink of collapse. Hearing the noise, Xu Huo simply opened a window in the wall to let the triangle fly out, but he could not change the structure of the hospital at will, so when the glowing triangle flew back, he instinctively looked towards Bai Kou—this instance wouldn’t likely keep the Whale and his companion trapped for long.
Exactly at that moment, the Whale, carrying Yuguo, and Bai Kou, in pursuit, charged into the battlefield one after the other, with the Whale bearing the brunt and blocking the path of the black spike. Glancing at the incoming object, he covered his right arm with a layer of black metal and flicked it away with a swing of his hand. The black spike was deflected.
The black spike that was flicked away returned to its original trajectory in less than a second, and this time it collided with Bai Kou.
Bai Kou kept a cool face, placed down the sphere used to modify the layout of the hospital, and used it to block the black spike.
No one knew what material the black spike was made of, but upon colliding with the sphere it shattered to pieces, with the wriggling entities falling to the floor where some dissolved into the ground, leaving the rest to try to reconstitute into the black spike, now only a third of its original length.
"My prop!" Mona Doug cried out in pain, and although the remaining black spike was slightly slower, its offensive was still fierce. Unfortunately, this time it failed to tear through Ashis’s defense prop, and was instead repelled by it!
Having missed such a good opportunity, Mona Doug gritted her teeth and glared at Bai Kou. For some reason, she did not use the black spike to attack Ashis again but instead withdrew it and engaged Ashis in close combat herself.
However, she was unlucky; the Whale, whom Bai Kou had forced to return, happened to bump into her, detonating the energy bomb he was holding, and blew her away along with it!
