Chapter 505: How to Use the Instance Authorization Document
Chapter 505: Chapter 505: How to Use the Instance Authorization Document
"Left or right, it’s death either way, let’s fight it out!" a short-haired female player strode forward, taking over for Xu Huo and the other person to press the deployment mode.
Although the ship rocked, thankfully the main shaft was unbreakable, as the third, fourth, and fifth levels began to slowly rotate and open.
Just as Lu Yun said, the agitated giant squid was causing chaos aimlessly on the surface of the sea. Regardless of whether it was targeting the unfolding levels, collision was inevitable. In an instant, a third of the fifth level was shaved off, and it even exploded upon hitting something, severing that tentacle!
This was like setting off firecrackers in a hornet’s nest. After the explosion, a mutated giant squid rose from underneath the sea.
This squid wasn’t just different in size from the normal concept of an octopus; after mutation, its body resembled a contaminated floating island, covered in pus-filled sores of different colors. Some kept on bursting, oozing a stinging liquid that nourished all sorts of mutated creatures clinging to it.
The mutated giant squid raised its body, spraying mucus toward the ship while attempting to envelop the hull with its tentacles.
For a ship hundreds of meters long, a single squid could not cause any trouble, but what if there were more?
As if answering a call, one after another, mutated giant squids surfaced, swimming towards the ship, crowding like innumerable islands, with countless tentacles flailing in the dim sky and polluted waters—a truly magical spectacle!
"Mr. Matt, your ship is in danger," a long-haired noble said casually while holding a wine glass.
"A trifling matter." Captain Matt did not attempt to snipe the approaching squids, nor did he interfere with the rotating levels. He snapped his fingers, and clusters of white objects surfaced around the ship. On closer inspection, these things could twist around but quickly perished under the squids’ assault. However, as they died, streams of colorful liquid spread across the sea, creating a greasy layer.
The squids nearest to the ship began to lose strength and soon flipped over into the sea.
"Electric jellyfish. The venom released by one is enough to kill any aquatic creature in a lake," Matt observed with satisfaction as the squids died one after another, "When traveling the sea, using them against those mutated species is most convenient. Besides, their venom has an anesthetic effect and no side effects."
Several high-ranking players laughed at varying volumes, not worrying about the calamity inside or outside the ship. Instead, the long-haired noble said, "Where did this Madame Butterfly come from? Why won’t she let go of the Guile Sound Knights? Do they have a history?"
Duke Tal, who was still lingering on the eighth floor, hurriedly came forward to explain Madame Butterfly’s background.
"A Xīnlún Church cultist looking to buy firearms?" The long-haired noble paused, "Have I been inside the instance too long? When did the Xīnlún Church start to grow in Zone 011?"
"It’s a minor scope." Veyson Meni joined the conversation, "But the Xīnlún Church is indeed quite fitting for Zone 011."
The long-haired noble tapped the tabletop with his fingertip and said, "Zone 011 doesn’t need a religion. Nobles are the faith of all the people in the region."
Veyson Meni, together with Ran Ying and another noblewoman standing beside him, simultaneously turned their gaze towards him.
At that moment, a freckled noble sitting beside the long-haired noble said, "Though I have no high regard for Evolvers, they are somewhat useful. These people are foolish and disobedient; adopting a religion can also be a solution."
The long-haired noble glanced at him, then scanned the others present before finally setting his eyes on Captain Matt, "What do you think?"
"My work doesn’t focus on Zone 011, and I’d rather not get involved in these matters," Captain Matt said with a smile unique to mature men, clearly not catching the conversational ball thrown his way.
Tapping the table with his index finger, the long-haired noble pressed, "Who initiated the introduction of the Xīnlún Church? Veyson Meni, I’m asking about the person behind the scenes. The Rongxin Group doesn’t have the guts for that. There must be a noble backing them."
"Ashis, why make such a fuss? It’s just a religion," the freckled noble said with a grin, "If you don’t like it, just give a heads-up to the authorities later."
"You’re right," said the curly-haired noble who was leaning against the back of his chair, carelessly undoing his shirt buttons and paying no attention to Veyson Meni and the others. He added, "I am more interested in this Madame Butterfly though."
The long-haired noble, Ashis Verna, seemed to have his attention diverted. His fingers crossed over his knees as he watched the battle below, "This woman is a Rank-A Player, and judging by the energy firearms she carries, she’s not here for the arsenal delivered by the Guile Sound Knights."
"The weapons we purchased were the updated version from the Eye of Platinum last year. Although her gear is cobbled together, the Energy Slices must be the latest version; older versions can’t reach such power."
"Besides, she’s not a Cannibal Player, so the identity of Madame Butterfly is in doubt."
"I think she’s got a vendetta against the Guile Sound Knights," the curly-haired noble said with a smile. "She specifically came to Zone 011; could she be one of the Eye of Platinum’s people?"
Upon hearing this, everyone glanced at Bai Kou. Ashis Verna said, "If she’s one of the Eye of Platinum, then we can’t let her leave alive."
"Don’t worry, we’ve brought a Space-Time Rift Disturber on board. Without a ticket, even if she has a wormhole transporter, she can’t escape," laughed Captain Matt. But as soon as he finished speaking, his expression suddenly changed, and he instinctively looked up into the sky.
*
On the third deck of the spaceship.
The player survivors who had managed to activate the unfolding mode without capsizing were resting. The course had been adjusted, and although the spaceship moved swiftly, they dared not go out and could only hide here for as long as they could.
About thirty players were gathered in and around the control room, most of them wearing White Bracelets, with only a few Black Bracelets, all isolated on the side.
Xu Huo and his group were among them.
The fact that Captain Matt had managed to kill all the giant Chapters by just releasing some mutated species instead of actually controlling the ship, was something the players found hard to accept and filled them with despair.
Reality was in front of them; it would be easy for the noble players to kill them.
After sitting idly for a while, Xu Huo lit a cigarette and walked out of the control room to an empty corridor. He looked out the window for a while, then crushed his half-finished cigarette and took out the Instance Authorization Document he had obtained in Hua City. He wrote on it:
"The Seventeenth Hospital."
"1. Undergo psychological treatment at least once."
"2. Kill one doctor."
"3. Find the hospital’s main entrance."
"Passerby A; D556688."
After the last digit was written, the document emitted a faint glow. A few seconds later, the writing refreshed:
"Congratulations Player Passerby A on becoming the holder of ’The Seventeenth Hospital’ random instance. Your instance name and missions have passed the game review."
