Chapter 493: The Ship That Changes State
Chapter 493: Chapter 493: The Ship That Changes State
Xu Huo finished reading and immediately replied to the message, asking if she had found the target.
It took a while for Bai Kou to reply, saying merely, "Come to the tenth floor after you’re done."
Xu Huo wasn’t clear on her situation, but there was no movement upstairs at this time, so there should be no problem for now.
He turned the gas valve down to the minimum and then left the restaurant towards the elevator.
The White Bracelet at the pool was no match for that Noble player, and there wasn’t much time left. By now the Black Bracelet and the other two Red Bracelets might have already met up.
He found a remote elevator, away from other people’s notice, and before he got close, he smelled an intense scent of blood. He first thought that the Red Bracelet had been on a killing spree here, but instead he saw Selin, whom he had seen before, gripping a Red Bracelet player by the throat and holding him up in the air, his face spattered with blood and smiling, "I ask you, will you truly repent? If you truly repent, I will spare your life."
The Red Bracelet player showed a bit of backbone, but was quickly overwhelmed by the tightening grip on his throat, struggling to say, "I... realize... my... mistakes..."
However, Selin shook his head and snapped his neck, "Unfortunately, you’re not sincerely repentant."
The Red Bracelet collapsed at his feet with his neck crooked, and there were two other players who had met the same fate, evidently forced to answer such questions before swiftly being dealt with.
After changing his bracelet to black, Xu Huo stepped out, "We meet again."
Selin took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood off his face, still smiling, "What a coincidence, I’m going upstairs. Are you coming?"
Xu Huo nodded slightly and glanced at the few White Bracelet players hiding behind him.
Among them was the female player who had just been caught at the pool.
After looking at him, the female player averted her gaze, her expression carrying a hint of fear and wariness.
Of the five White Bracelet players, three were soaked through, probably having come from the pool as well.
After entering the elevator, Xu Huo asked Selin, "Who are these people?"
"Seekers of help, my disciples," Selin said with a smile. "They voluntarily joined my religion, and as a senior member, it’s my duty to protect the juniors."
Xu Huo smiled and said nothing.
The elevator stopped at the fifth floor, not because someone outside had pushed the button, but because a sudden jolt shook it and then it got stuck.
Selin went forward to pry the doors open, with the floor of the elevator slightly higher than the fifth floor, and he was the first to step down.
Xu Huo’s repeated pressing of buttons was of no use. He too, had no choice but to step out, noticing that fresh seaweed had grown on the metal surfaces outside the elevator.
In fact, not just around the elevator, but the floor and walls were all covered with seaweed carrying a scent of the sea!
Under the dim light, the damp seaweed spread all over the ship, and the ship’s body began to show signs of mottled age, resembling a sunken ship that had been soaking in the sea for many years, devoid of any of the luxurious signs of daylight.
"This couldn’t be part of the game, could it?" the female player ventured out timidly.
"It should be a prop," Selin observed the corridor and remarked, "This is my first time seeing such a huge prop."
"If we’re inside a prop, isn’t it impossible for us to escape?" the female player said with a choke in her voice, "Did those Nobles bring us on board just to kill us all?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" another player said impatiently, "Whether it’s in a prop or a game scenario, we can’t get out. Who knows how long this ship will drift at sea?"
"This sea area is not yet part of the game’s zones, so we can’t use tickets. If this ship is a replica, maybe we could leave through the replica." Another male player said, tinged with hope.
Compared to the replica, the utter impossibility of using tickets was even more despairing.
"Whether it’s a replica or an item, we’ll know if we take a look," Xu Huo said, nodding his chin towards the outside.
The glass on the outside of the corridor was now completely covered in sea grass. He cut an opening with his sword and looked out, "The exterior is also completely entangled in water grass; the ship has stopped operating."
Without a replica notification, that meant they were in an item. The ship was now in a different state than it was during the day, the lift couldn’t be used, and the only way to get to different floors was to dismantle the ship or go outside. The likelihood of dismantling the ship was slim; if going outside wasn’t an option, then everyone would be trapped on their current floor.
"I’ll go out and take a look..." the male player approached the window, but before he could stick his head out, the cut sea grass at the hole suddenly whipped around like a snake, wrapping around his neck and yanking him out!
Selin, who was closer, immediately reached out to save the man, but unexpectedly, the sea grass was surprisingly strong and pulled Selin out with him.
Xu Huo raised his sword and cut a larger square around the outside, creating an even bigger hole in the glass window. As branches and leaves of sea grass fell, moments later Selin hopped back in, holding the body of the player, and shook his head, "It’s a bit difficult to go out that way."
The body was laid on the ground, the back of its head was a blurred mess of flesh and blood—those sea grass had crushed a player’s skull in such a short time!
The rustling sound crept closer; the chopped sea grass rapidly grew back, covering the window once again, and even reached into the corridor like tentacles!
"Go! Hurry, go!" The female players hastily retreated.
Xu Huo cut as he retreated; the corridor was no longer safe, and the only choice was to hide in the guest rooms.
But the situation in the guest rooms wasn’t much better, with sea grass slowly writhing everywhere, it seemed it wouldn’t take much time for the entire ship to be devoured.
"Haha!" At that moment, a strange laugh echoed from afar.
"It’s those Cannibal Players again!" The female player gritted her teeth, "None of them are human!"
"Someone save me!" Along with the sound of pounding on the door, the little girl’s plea for help reached the room where Xu Huo and the others were hiding.
The frantic knocking and turning of the doorknob made everyone inside tense. While everyone remained silent, Selin stepped forward, opened the door, and pulled the little girl into the room.
"What are you doing! This will expose us!" A player from the group, angry and frustrated, took a combative stance.
But Selin, oblivious to the noise, asked the little girl, "Would you like to become a follower of my faith?"
"Can I be saved if I become a follower?" the little girl asked, looking down.
"God will not abandon any follower, and neither will I," Selin said, smiling gently.
The little girl looked up, full of gratitude, "You really are good people!"
"He said he’d save you; I didn’t," Xu Huo said from a few meters away, "Playing this game at such a young age, a child who doesn’t learn good will sooner or later get a beating."
The little girl looked at him, "I don’t understand what you’re saying."
"You just need to understand this," Xu Huo said as he twirled the sword in his hand, the blade pointing at her.
The little girl didn’t hesitate; she leapt towards him, but midway, Selin grabbed her ankle. She spun in mid-air, landing on her feet, and looked at him with a smile, "You really can’t trust a bad uncle."
