Chapter 483 Arsonist
Chapter 483: Chapter 483 Arsonist
The players who were held in the club had lost their player identities, making it impossible for them to escape the club’s pursuit. Even if they did manage to get away, they would only be able to hide in the Lower City district, which wouldn’t be hard to find them.
Therefore, Xu Huo’s actions were utterly meaningless.
"What are you talking about?" Xu Huo rolled down the car window and lit his lighter towards the club building.
"Boom!" A damaged liquor cabinet in the building erupted into flames.
As the fire’s glow flickered several times, several other spots in the building caught fire, and the blaze spread to somewhere unknown, setting off a series of explosions.
And as the explosion started, the building’s fire suppression systems were overwhelmed, with rolling flames and thick smoke pouring out of the building, accompanied by the howls of some unknown animals.
With the cigarette finally lit, Xu Huo took a drag and then squinted his eyes in appreciation of the burning building, "I just wanted to see the fireworks."
Their car, like many others’, hovered around the building, the tumbling flames reflecting off Miss Bai Kou’s beautiful face. She said something ambiguous, "You’re pretty bold."
Xu Huo turned and pointed outside the window, "Don’t you like it?"
Miss Bai Kou smiled lightly, "I promised Uncle Fan Xiao I wouldn’t play with fire... I should at least stick to that promise a bit."
"So you do like it." Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "I never thought you were the law-abiding type."
"Where? I’m here to talk business now. If I cause trouble in Zone 011, how could I continue my business?" Bai Kou glanced outside, "Black Epaulette has arrived."
She took a video of the captured Alien before driving the car away.
"Should I help you upload it?" Xu Huo asked, eyeing the communication device she carelessly tossed aside.
"Sure." Bai Kou replied nonchalantly.
But as Xu Huo picked up her communication device, a fierce holographic projection of an Alien suddenly burst out, snarling and biting at him!
"Roar!" The holographic Alien barked ferociously, but Xu Huo didn’t even blink, just shifted the device aside and looked at the woman beside him who was snickering, "A prank with no technical quality."
"As long as it’s fun." Bai Kou said with a smile, "Nothing better than using this to scare off those bastards who like to invade people’s privacy for no reason."
Xu Huo uploaded the video to the net, commenting, "This can only scare kids, where’s the sense of accomplishment in scaring little children?"
Bai Kou didn’t seem to mind his lack of enthusiasm and changed the subject, "Black Epaulette might track you down soon. You left the club and then reappeared; it’s hard not to arouse suspicion. Did you use special abilities on that player from the club? Could they recognize you afterward?"
"Not sure, it was the first time I used the new ability." Xu Huo said, "But I didn’t show my face."
Bai Kou simply "Hmm"ed and said no more.
When they returned to the castle, Mr. Dong had prepared a late-night snack according to Xu Huo’s taste, so Bai Kou had a couple of bites and then went upstairs.
When Xu Huo went upstairs later, Mr. Dong came to tell him that Bai Kou had left again.
Xu Huo paused with the pen in his hand, "Do you know what she’s really doing in Zone 011?"
It seemed like she was there for military supplies, but her nocturnal activities suggested she had other objectives.
"For the arms trade." Mr. Dong unusually added another comment, "Miss Bai Kou seems to have some connection with the Eye of Platinum."
Xu Huo gave him a look. As a special item, Mr. Dong and his master were just as mysterious. Until now, he didn’t know what standards He Pu used for choosing an heir, and while nominally he was the heir to Rose Castle, in reality, the master was still Mr. Dong.
Mr. Dong was reserved towards him, never taking the initiative to say much, and when Xu Huo asked about things, he would selectively respond, with answers that weren’t necessarily true.
It was apparent that he did not strictly follow the requests of his former master.
Mr. Dong was a butler with a high degree of autonomy.
This could also be discerned from He Pu’s relics; He Pu would accompany him to participate in some inexplicable spider races, and the two were more like friends.
"If I decide to leave Zone 011, would you stay here or come with me?"
Mr. Dong stood upright, solemn and unamusing, "I will wait here for the master to return."
Xu Huo understood that even though he was the nominal heir to Rose Castle, the only things he could completely take with him were the few items He Pu had left him.
Turning the conversation back, he asked, "Are you sure Miss Bai Kou is related to the Eye of Platinum?"
Mr. Dong stated flatly, "She didn’t hide this fact in front of me, using the Eye of Platinum’s heavy artillery to bombard the castle."
No wonder these two didn’t see eye to eye.
The castle had been damaged to such an extent that the commotion must have been significant, and it had likely gone unnoticed because both parties had deliberately used special items to conceal it.
Without clear details on how Mr. Dong deduced the relationship between Bai Kou and the Eye of Platinum, there must nonetheless be evidence to support his claim.
Bai Kou disguised her identity to acquire military hardware for the Rongxin Group, and she was also connected to the Eye of Platinum, coincidentally when the Eye of Platinum had its transporter robbed recently...
"Could she be here waiting for the person delivering the goods?"
System news speculated that the theft of the military hardware could have been perpetrated by the Guile Sound Knights. Bai Kou also knew this news—was she confident enough to act alone, or did she have help from others?
With several ideas flashing through his mind, Xu Huo looked at Mr. Dong, "We should move as soon as possible."
Mr. Dong appeared somewhat puzzled, but Xu Huo said, "I’m afraid this place will be torn down again."
Mr. Dong’s face fell, and after his expression changed several times, he soberly told Xu Huo, "Sir, you should be the one to see the guest out."
He passed the buck deftly.
But it was no wonder—if Mr. Dong could have dealt with Bai Kou, he wouldn’t be swallowing his pride and finding fault in little things every day.
"I’m powerless to help," Xu Huo said with an apologetic smile.
Mr. Dong left, visibly displeased.
Xu Huo was in a good mood and checked the current events news.
The outcome of the club assault incident had been determined. Except for one particularly unlucky individual who died from hitting his head on the corner of a table while trying to escape, no lives were lost to aliens, fires, or explosions—thanks to the players who had undergone strict protective training before being allowed to work.
Although no irreparable situation had occurred, there were injuries and even fatalities, and aliens were very likely to have caused this, so the club was targeted.
Whether intentionally or not, Black Epaulette leaked some "performance" videos during the investigation. Such bloody and brutal content shocked the citizens of Zone 011, who had always lived in a peaceful and tranquil environment.
So many players had sacrificed themselves to the aliens to get to today’s situation, and yet some people were smuggling aliens in to do this inconceivable act, even letting the aliens escape!
Out of interest, a mechanical march soon erupted.
A mechanical march is where registered robots or remotely controlled mechanical devices are authorized by their owners to protest on their behalf, so real humans don’t need to show up in person. It is a distinct feature of Zone 011.
