Chapter 471 Flying Kites
Chapter 471: Chapter 471 Flying Kites
The Butcher Carriage Monster, also known as the Blood Alien, originated from players of considerable strength who degenerated. They do not like to eat humans but prefer to kill using violent means. Xu Huo had encountered one on his first trip to Zone 011 on the train, and its speed and strength were both astonishing. Such Aliens were unpredictable in strength, as strong when they were players and remained strong after transformation.
He later also researched information about the Blood Alien. Their numbers were not large, and they usually appeared alone, occasionally in groups of two or three. But the number present now was abnormally high!
"Could Lawrence Lee have come just for the Butcher Carriage Monster?" the tattooed man said.
The player beside the coffin-like box said expressionlessly, "Let’s try to lure him out."
The tattooed man nodded, then gestured to a player beside him. They took out a crescent-shaped jade stone and stuck it on the metal wall to their right. The crescent quickly expanded into a portal big enough to pass through. After killing an Alien attempting to crawl in, the tattooed man climbed over the top of the crescent and flipped out.
After the two men went out, a third player came to freeze the entrance. Excess ice grew to the top of the carriage, and with a swipe on the icy surface, the viewport was smeared with an image of the inside of the carriage.
Standing inside a large box-like container, the tattooed man and his companion lured all the Aliens to the front and slaughtered them systematically. The Blood Alien was fast, but that box prop had a very convenient defensive feature, which was that it only allowed exit, not entry.
Every time the Aliens attacked, the two men were protected by a light screen, while their attacks could harm the Aliens outside without any hindrance!
"That prop is way too useful!" Dr. Deng exclaimed.
Xu Huo, who had witnessed the whole process, noticed obvious flaws in the prop. First, although the box seemed bulky enough to withstand the strong airflow outside the train, it was not immovable. Under the frequent impacts of the Aliens, the box shifted a lot.
Additionally, after the tattooed man and his companion entered, they had not used guns again, relying solely on cold weapons like swords, indicating there was a limitation on offensive power.
Nevertheless, it was a very practical prop, especially useful in the current situation.
His gaze roamed over the box prop, and a security personnel standing next to him, wiping his gun, gave him a warning look.
Xu Huo consciously moved aside a bit.
But at that moment, an unexpected change occurred—the box on the roof was overturned by some unknown force!
The heavy box fell from the train, and the tattooed men made an emergency exit. But before they could escape, they were surrounded by a swarm of Blood Aliens. Their Defense Props were breached, and the tattooed man had an arm forcibly torn off!
"Crack! Crack!" Ice rapidly grew over the crescent portal, extending up the carriage and freezing everything, both humans and Aliens.
Afterward, the two tattooed men broke free from the ice and quickly returned inside the train.
Just as the crescent door closed, the frozen Aliens also broke free and started to crazily damage the train again.
The tattooed man brought his arm out, bandaged it quickly, and poured two bottles of Potion on it, effectively reattaching the severed limb.
"It’s such a waste that we lost that prop just now!" Dr. Deng said urgently and regretfully, "It was so convenient for killing Aliens!"
"It’s just a Rank-A metal box," the tattooed man said indifferently, "there are plenty of them."
Dr. Deng hesitated, feeling somewhat embarrassed and closed his mouth.
These people seemed calm and collected, but the six passengers in the first car were both shocked and furious. The Alien that had been drawn away was now coming back, and it was clear that the people in the second car were not planning to take action anymore.
"If we can’t live, then don’t expect to survive either!" Weiwei scoffed at the players in the second car and threw a mini-bomb!
The people around her, as well as the guards whose expressions changed slightly upon seeing the bomb, immediately reached out to stop it, but it was already too late. It was clearly visible to everyone that the explosion’s flames were momentarily contained by an invisible force, but in the next second, it burst through!
The powerful impact of the explosion completely shattered the protective barriers outside of the two carriages. The first carriage was already battered and torn, and even one of the injured players was blown out of the train by the blast. The second carriage attempted a secondary defense; the metal carriage was flipped over, but a metal box, hardly different, was put in front of it in time, so the damage was minimal. Even Dr. Deng wasn’t hurt.
The explosion also took out a majority of the Aliens, and by now, the train had passed the cliff section and was surrounded by grassland. Those Aliens that rolled off the train but were not dead quickly got up and chased after the train again!
The train now had only the engine and the floors of a few carriages left. Even though its speed slowed down, the strong airflow still made it difficult to withstand, even with cover!
But that wasn’t the most urgent concern. Watching the Aliens gathering from all directions, Xu Huo drew out the Crimson Sword and signaled Dr. Deng to retreat into the crowd. But Dr. Deng did not move back; instead, he pulled out a music box and loudly declared, "This is a prop given to me by Kong Cheng!"
Xu Huo watched him open the music box, and a circle of pink light appeared around them. As the little figure inside the music box turned, so did the outer ring of light. Although the rotation seemed slow, when the first Alien slammed into it and half its head was sheared off, the power of the Defense Prop became evident. In the next ten seconds or so, the prop sliced off the heads of dozens of Aliens!
Dr. Deng was more surprised than anyone. "This Defense Prop is so amazing, and Kong Cheng actually gave it to me!"
Xu Huo glanced at him. "You were not a player when he gave it to you."
Certain functions of Defense Props require a player to use them, but the Defense Prop itself is also a weapon, like a sword. In his hands, it would produce Sword Qi, but in someone else’s hands, it’s still a sharp weapon.
"That makes sense," Dr. Deng remarked, then immediately added, "But this effect only lasts for a minute and a half."
"Can you move with it?" Xu Huo asked.
"Yes," Dr. Deng immediately followed the direction Xu Huo indicated and took a couple of steps, seeing him pull a thread from a crack in the metal plate at the edge of the floor that had not been completely torn away.
This was a kite string.
When he saw the metal box, Xu Huo had already run a line through the gaps in the carriage, knowing that the carriage would eventually break. He wasn’t sure if he could keep up with the train’s speed, but securing an Alien chasing the train, or getting hold of the metal box, would be advantageous for him.
Of course, he previously thought the metal box was a Defense Prop, which might not work with a kite string. He just tried it out and, fortunately, it caught on.
Pulling back the box floating in the sky and placing it on the floor of the carriage, the timing coincided with the music box’s limit. Using the kite string, he tied up Dr. Deng and threw him out, then stood on top of the box, striking down the Aliens one after another as they rushed forward!
