Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Alien Surrounding the Car
Dr. Deng seemed to have realized the tense atmosphere and couldn’t help but ask, "Is Lawrence Lee a very famous player?"
Xu Huo glanced at him, "You’ve been to so many places, haven’t you heard of him?"
"The game world is so vast, there are countless famous players." Dr. Deng had an expression as if to say, "How could I possibly know everyone?"
"Lawrence Lee is a Super Player," Weiwei finally spoke up, her voice audibly back to normal, "He’s one of the top wanted criminals with a bounty by the Game Government. His wanted information is available in every game district."
Even if you haven’t seen his face, you should recognize the name.
It’s a pity that Dr. Deng was a fake player, but then he became tense again, "Could he be a killer?"
Xu Huo didn’t answer, but it was the little girl Weiwei who couldn’t stay calm and yelled, "What do you think?"
Dr. Deng stopped talking, as if he had given up struggling.
When Lawrence Lee left, except for two players who got off, no one else moved.
As night fell, it was time to turn off the lights, but the lights inside the carriage stayed on, shining like a strip of light traveling on the track.
"What’s going on?" The players started getting anxious.
Whether or not an Alien would hit the train, the lights are usually turned off at night because of the uncertainty of whether the light would attract Aliens from a distance.
"What the hell is going on?" Weiwei complained irritably, "Can’t find the conductor either."
"It’s over, the glass of our windows is already broken..." Dr. Deng muttered.
"Calm down, there are many ways to seal the windows," Xu Huo spoke up, his gaze shifting towards Weiwei and the others.
The group of seven players near Weiwei no longer concealed their identities and stood together tactically. Upon hearing Xu Huo’s words, Weiwei’s "parents" exchanged glances and together picked up a scroll, which they unrolled. The pure white paintings effectively sealed off the windows on both sides.
The situation was the same in Carriage Two, where the glass on both sides and the door to the rear carriage were completely sealed with metal. However, both groups instinctively left the windows of the middle connecting carriage untouched.
Lawrence Lee did not return to the carriage, and around ten o’clock at night, the sound of heavy objects impacting the windows started outside. It was soon followed by a barrage like Heavy Rain, a continuous thudding noise that never ceased. It was unclear how many Aliens had come to the outside of the train, but everyone could clearly feel that the train had slowed down under the extra weight.
The players inside the carriage closely monitored the noises from outside. As the train’s speed decreased, the sound of Aliens boarding also gradually lessened, yet it still didn’t stop.
"There must be several layers of them outside by now," Weiwei said.
"If the props were blocking the light, this shouldn’t be happening," Xu Huo said.
Weiwei’s mother took out a telescope and pressed it against the window. After a look, she said, "Our props haven’t blocked the light at all!"
"How is that possible?" Weiwei’s father frowned, then suddenly realized something, "Could someone have tampered with it?"
The players in the same carriage all looked at Xu Huo first.
"I’m not sick," Xu Huo glanced at them, "What good does it do me to draw the Alien here?"
Although his argument was not convincing, there was an even more suspicious person ahead.
"Could it be Lawrence Lee?" Dr. Deng looked around.
Right at that moment, music suddenly began to play in the carriage.
Xu Huo’s expression changed. Among the Aliens that liked to attack the latitude trains, those stimulated by light sources were the weakest in combat. Without light, they would quickly lose vitality, which was much milder compared to the Aliens attracted by sound, smell, air vibration, and other methods!
The Alien he had encountered at the end of his initial assessment on the train was one of these. Although it wasn’t particularly sensitive to hearing, it was still one of the tougher kinds to deal with. It was only due to a game error that he had encountered that situation, which was later rectified by the Game Government with a ticket.
Now that music was playing on the train for no reason, it undoubtedly was attracting other Aliens!
"What good does it do him to draw the Alien here?" Dr. Deng yelled uncontrollably, "We could capsize!"
"Bang!" As if in response to his words, a loud noise came from the rear of the train. Like a snake stepped on its tail, the entire train suddenly braked, shuddered violently, then screeched abrasively on the tracks. Following that, there was the roar of a beast from the last carriage!
Even from inside the carriage, the noise was deafening, but what made everyone despair was that the next second, the position of the roar had noticeably moved forward!
Screams, along with the sounds of metal twisting and tearing, rang out incessantly. Those screams weren’t just from the players but also from the Aliens. However, before long, these sounds all stopped, only leaving the enraged roars of the beast, which seemed to be trapped, staying put.
"Someone took action." Weiwei and the others glanced over Xu Huo and the escort personnel.
Xu Huo knew it was the effect of "Number Grid" at play. This was originally meant for Weiwei and her group—if they and the escort personnel started fighting over the coffin box, the best strategy was to move the box to the back to divert them and then detach the rear carriages. That way, they could fight all they wanted without affecting the entire train.
But unexpectedly, it was not people but Aliens that got trapped.
With the Alien trapped, the players in the rear carriage instinctively detached it and, as the train accelerated, the roaring noise faded into the distance.
Unfortunately, that was just the first one.
The music didn’t stop, and within a few short minutes, another Alien caught up with the train and began a massive slaughter on the roof.
The roof, under the violent stomping, became deformed, blood flowing down like water. The players inside the train learned their lesson and used items to block out the sound, temporarily preventing Aliens from being attracted inside.
But they couldn’t relax just yet. Some items were time-limited, and once the time was up, even breathing and heartbeats could potentially capture the Aliens’ attention.
"Squeak squeak squeak..." A sound of metal scraping came from the third carriage. Just when others thought a player inside had exposed themselves, the glass on top of the first and second carriages also got ripped open by sharp nails—a thing that resembled a human finger as well as a primate’s slowly slid across, then the finger retracted, and a blood-red eye pressed against the gap, shrieking and screeching at the carriage!
The next second, players in both the front and rear carriages took action. An escort member in the second carriage reached up and pinched at the roof, and the Alien there exploded, with blood dripping down through the gap.
Meanwhile, a female player with a buzz cut in the first carriage flicked her middle finger at the screeching Alien’s position, and the Alien fell silent.
