Chapter 462 Uncle is Sick
Chapter 462: Chapter 462 Uncle is Sick
"Hey!" a player with yellowed teeth laughed from behind, "Big brother, you see the compartments both in front and behind are blocked, where can you go? Sooner or later we’ll have a relationship. Why leave as soon as we meet? That’s too standoffish."
The Cannibal Players laughed in various tones, Dr. Deng’s calves were trembling, and Xu Huo, worried that he might be frightened into a bad state, called for the attendant.
"Kid, you’re quite bold," said Yellow Teeth, eyeing him like the other players, with visible caution.
In fact, the reason the Cannibal Players on the scene didn’t rush forward and tear Dr. Deng to shreds was because of Xu Huo’s demeanor.
Although most on the train were Level D Players, no one could be sure there wouldn’t be higher-level players taking the ride. Besides, Dr. Deng looked like an easy target, and Xu Huo took on a protective role. His calmness meant the other players had to be cautious.
Xu Huo ignored the probing words of Yellow Teeth and sat down, looking straight ahead, quietly waiting for the attendant to arrive.
Yellow Teeth exchanged a glance with the player next to him, then stood up and walked towards Xu Huo.
All the players were waiting for the first confrontation. Dr. Deng, hearing the noises, couldn’t help but turn back and saw a player walking towards them, frantically tugging at the arm of the person beside him. However, Xu Huo’s expression didn’t change, as if he didn’t sense the predator behind him.
"Pretending to be something you’re not," Yellow Teeth mocked as he walked briskly and reached out to touch Xu Huo’s shoulder. Just at that moment, Xu Huo turned his head, giving him a cold look, "You’d better sit down."
Yellow Teeth’s hand hung in the air, involuntarily pausing, and his previously relaxed and probing demeanor turned somber as he stood his ground.
A person’s reaction doesn’t lie. Clearly, Yellow Teeth was intimidated by just one look from Xu Huo. The players weren’t fools—aside from physical strength, high-level players possessed an aura. This wasn’t something that came from special evolution or just the sharpness accumulated from killing countless people. One look was enough to know they were dealing with someone they shouldn’t provoke.
The players present didn’t know much about Spirit Evolution and could only equate the assault and oppression of Psychic Power to an aura. However, aura is more ethereal, and it’s more appropriate to call it momentum. Spirit Evolution, on the other hand, is a tangible enhancement of power.
They were overawed by Xu Huo’s momentum and missed the best time to attack. Shortly after, the attendant came from a dedicated passage next to the compartment.
Ignoring the tension inside the compartment, the attendant asked with a smile, "May I know which guest needs assistance?"
The word "assistance" awakened the frightened and speechless Dr. Deng, who hastily replied, "It’s me, it’s us!"
"The environment in this compartment is too poor. I want to change places," Xu Huo said directly, taking out two thick stacks of Banknotes, "If you don’t have the authority, you can ask someone else. I’m a member of the Yongxing Restaurant."
The sight of two stacks of Banknotes already brought a smile to the attendant’s face. The mention of the membership made him even more eager, "Sir, please follow me this way. There’s no need for the chef’s authorization; I can take you to the first-class compartment right now. We have a special dessert today, and as a member, you can enjoy one for free."
"Not bad," Xu Huo said, getting up gracefully. With the attendant making way, he walked out of the compartment first and asked nonchalantly, "Also, what are the specialties?"
The attendant quickly and politely listed several dishes. Xu Huo ordered without hesitation, adding, "I trust the taste of Yongxing Restaurant."
The attendant was delighted and took the initiative to let Dr. Deng walk in front."
And so the compartment full of Cannibal Players could only watch helplessly as the two of them left under the protections of the attendant. The door to the front closed behind them, and those remaining once again became each other’s targets.
Compared to the bloodshed and unbearable scenes behind, first class was an entirely different world. The compartment was lavishly decorated, with fresh flowers throughout. The scent of the flowers mixed with the aroma of the food. A few elegantly dressed players were dining gracefully. One of the tables seemed to be a family of three: a man and woman were talking, their teenage daughter in a dress running lightly on the carpet, tugging at ornaments and bombarding the attendant with questions.
"Weiwei," the woman called out to her, "Don’t make trouble for the adults."
The girl named Weiwei stuck out her tongue, and when she ran past Xu Huo, she playfully winked at him.
Xu Huo watched her for two seconds before following the attendant to his seat, where Dr. Deng sat across from him, "This is much better, I hope nothing happens on the way."
"Let’s eat first," Xu Huo didn’t look at the others any further, focusing solely on his meal.
"I haven’t eaten this well in many days," Dr. Deng said contentedly, "Having money is really good."
If they didn’t have money, even getting out of the carriage just now would have been difficult, not to mention moving to a place as safe as this without shedding a drop of blood.
After the meal, the train provided holographic news glasses, but Xu Huo didn’t talk to Dr. Deng, and instead wore the glasses to browse the latest news about the train’s vicinity.
A moment later, he covered his "Peeping Eye" lying on the table with his hand, took off the holographic glasses, and looked at the little girl who was reaching for them, "This is mine."
The little girl put her hands behind her back, coquettishly scuffing the carpet with her shoes, and looked straight at him, "I’m very curious about this item, can Uncle let me have a look?"
Xu Huo put away the item directly, saying in an unfriendly tone, "No."
Weiwei didn’t mind and just sat down next to him, placing her hands obediently on her knees and asked him with a smile, "Uncle, are you a Level D Player?"
"You guess."
"I guess Uncle is," Weiwei’s eyes curved with her smile as she continued swinging her legs, "Uncle must be very strong."
"You guess again."
"Then Uncle is very strong, my mommy said, men who do great things don’t smile at women."
Xu Huo glanced at her and took a sip of tea, "What you said is right."
"What is Uncle drinking? Can I try some?" she said as she reached out on her own.
"Uncle has an infectious disease." Xu Huo moved the cup away and said to the attendant, "Give her a glass of milk, tea is not good for children."
Weiwei propped her chin with her elbows on the table, "I stopped drinking milk a long time ago, it’s tasteless, but adults all like to drink tea, I want to try too."
The man and woman at the next table seemed not to hear her words, entwined in their own world, talking as if there’s no end to it.
"Being an adult isn’t that great," Xu Huo said offhand, "People who grow up will get sick like Uncle, not only is there no cure, but there are also no friends. Whoever you meet, people will think you’re crazy. If you don’t respond, they’ll think you’re admitting it. If you deny it, they’ll still believe you don’t realize you’re ill, and if you resist, that just confirms the madness for them. Pitiful, don’t you think?"
The smile on Weiwei’s face faded a little, "Although I’m not of age, I’m not stupid, Uncle is lying."
"I’m not lying to you," Xu Huo moistened his throat before continuing, "Uncle has seen a lot, everyone wants to cover up their ugliness with illusions, but adults are very shrewd, no one is fooled into thinking you’re not ill. They all avoid you like the plague, no matter how beautiful your smile is, or how innocent you pretend to be."
