Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 449: The Way to Solve the Dilemma

Chapter 449: Chapter 449: The Way to Solve the Dilemma

"Suffocating to death might not be the work of Ghost Shadow," Gan Qing said. "Didn’t the one in the rubber coat also kill Wan Yunrong with a plastic bag?"

"But aren’t they allies?" Chu Yuan found it hard to believe, "Zhu Rumin is confirmed to be with the Kong Siblings."

"Not necessarily," Wu Xiaonan said. "We only heard Ge Pan say that, who knows if he’s just talking nonsense."

Chu Yuan looked at Xu Huo subconsciously.

Xu Huo’s expression changed slightly. The alliance of Ge Pan, Mao Wei, and Zhu Rumin was confirmed. A plastic bag could be used to suffocate someone to death, but the Kong Siblings had no reason to kill one of their own. Therefore, Zhu Rumin must have died at the hands of Ghost Shadow.

Zhu Rumin had the identity of a "ghost" according to the game, technically she should be one of the players allowed to kill "rightly" in the game, but she was the one killed by Ghost Shadow first. This indicated that Ghost Shadow didn’t care whether a player’s identity was "human" or "ghost," and the reason for its appearance was to incite players to kill each other.

Players didn’t feel they had become "ghosts" for the same reason; there was no fixed "ghost," as Ghost Shadow chose at random.

If it wasn’t for Dr. Deng and his group, Zhu Rumin definitely wouldn’t have died yesterday, and if Ghost Shadow killed the Kong Siblings, they might have violated some taboo of Ghost Shadow.

The laboratory was very clean. Xu Huo had previously guessed that Ghost Shadow had a habit of cleaning the laboratory, so damaging the laboratory could possibly mark them for targeting... He looked at Dr. Deng, "What became of those sent earlier by the Beren Clan?"

"Of course they found nothing," Dr. Deng said. "Either they came back empty-handed or perished completely, although a few survived, they never mentioned anything about Ghost Shadow."

Xu Huo nodded slightly. "Ticket" players, even if they didn’t die at the hands of Ghost Shadow, would be killed off by players from the Beren Clan, while players who entered to find potions sometimes became victims of Ghost Shadow, and sometimes didn’t.

Of course, there was also the possibility that both "ticket" and non-"ticket" players could die together, but the chances of such coincidences again and again were low.

How interesting, the Beren Clan wanted to kill off all the "ticket" players to keep the existence of Deep Blue Laboratory a secret, while Ghost Shadow would also randomly kill all non-"ticket" players to avoid revealing itself. So-called karma probably works like this.

"Does Ghost Shadow really exist?" Qiu Xiangdong was skeptical. "To say that the Beren Clan has planted their own among the ’ticket’ players isn’t new, right? Why has no one brought out any information about Ghost Shadow?"

"That’s easy, they’ve all been killed," Chu Yuan said casually. "Even if they weren’t killed, it’s not like they could find so many players to come here every time."

"He’s right," Xu Huo said. "It’s easier to bribe players who come to Sayre Coast than to go around collecting ’tickets’ for copies of Deep Blue Laboratory."

Tickets were not easy to buy, and even if one could buy them, they could not be sustained in the long term.

Ghost Shadow, on the other hand, evidently possessed intelligence; if it wanted to hide, no one could find it.

So, the problem before them was that Ghost Shadow was likely aiming to kill everyone in the laboratory.

"Ghost Shadow kills even the ghosts, it certainly won’t spare us," Chu Yuan couldn’t help complaining. "This copy is just too unfriendly to ’ticket’ players; it seems determined to have us all killed."

"Logically speaking, becoming a ghost should be safer." Qiu Xiangdong said. "Zhu Rumin’s death should be an accident, we can’t be sure it wasn’t the Kong Siblings who did it. That Kong Hui looks nervous, maybe she killed Zhu Rumin out of frustration with her poor performance."

"Ghost Shadow won’t appear during the day, and by night we’re pretty much all ghosts, so there’s no point in distinguishing between human and ghost," said Xu Huo. "The only other way to escape the threat is to clear the game now."

"But where do we go to catch a ghost?" Wu Xiaonan said. "Aren’t we only thinking about finding the Potion because we can’t clear the game?"

The game’s second task was harder than Xu Huo had imagined because Ghost Shadow didn’t target anyone in particular and might not even need to attach to a person. This made it meaningless to try to deduce who the "ghost" was from the players, which also prevented them from controlling Ghost Shadow by controlling the players.

"I mean, Ghost Shadow is just a shadow, how could you possibly catch it?" Chu Yuan said. "It can also change shape. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, once like a man, once like a woman."

The group pondered without success, falling silent temporarily. After a while, Xu Huo stood up and said, "I’m going to the restroom."

"I’ll go with you," Chu Yuan quickly followed. "Don’t want a Ghost Shadow popping up and killing someone in broad daylight."

Xu Huo didn’t reject his kindness, but he didn’t go to the restroom. Instead, he chose a room next door and signaled for Chu Yuan to keep watch outside the door.

"Do you know how to catch a ghost?" Chu Yuan asked, surprised and excited.

"Let’s give it a try," Xu Huo said as he walked into the room alone, the bright light illuminating every corner clearly.

Directly opposite the room was a large viewing window, which revealed the deep sea once the curtains were drawn. The left side led to the bedroom and restroom, and the right side featured a full-length decorative mirror.

He examined the room’s Ventilation System, used props to stick several pieces of strong adhesive paper on it, and then drew the Crimson Sword, slashing everything in the room to bits.

Intact furniture, some decorations, even the paintings and lights on the walls, were all destroyed, leaving the room in darkness, with only a faint light seeping through from the viewing window outside.

Nonchalantly kicking aside the shattered painting by his foot, he walked towards the viewing window with a smile, traced lines on it with his sword, and went back and forth along those lines.

This type of glass, like the metal that reinforced the exterior of Deep Blue Laboratory, wasn’t easily broken, making only a grating, unpleasant noise as he scratched it.

But Xu Huo didn’t mind. He seemed to take pleasure in the repetitive task.

Just then, a ghastly face suddenly appeared on the glass before him, its pale visage dripping with black blood, contorting as it lunged for his head!

"Snap!" Like a shadow—or perhaps like a thin sheet of paper—Ghost Shadow didn’t wrap around Xu Huo’s head as cleanly as it had with other players but awkwardly slapped against a transparent glass case, spinning around it, unable to find a grip.

Xu Huo, who had been prepared with props waiting for it, quickly took out the "Invisible Protection." Using this transparent raincoat as a pocket, he covered his head with it, yanking down Ghost Shadow, which had been trying to lunge at his face.

Ghost Shadow truly was just a thin layer, almost like a painting, but it was agile. After the failed ambush, it escaped through the raincoat’s opening and bolted for the door.

Since the room was soundproof and the doors were sealed, Xu Huo called out as it reached the door, "You can’t get through there. Try the Ventilation System."

Without waiting for him to suggest, Ghost Shadow turned toward one of the vents. However, as it did, Xu Huo pulled on the kite string, and Ghost Shadow collided right into the strong adhesive paper.
