Chapter 435: Remove Props

Chapter 435: Chapter 435: Remove Props

Zhao Bi turned on his flashlight and whistled as he entered the bathroom. After relieving himself, he walked to the mirror. With his freshly washed hands, he started fixing his hair when suddenly, something bumped into his light. As the light wavered, a ghostly shadow flitted across the mirror.

Initially reaching for the light, Zhao Bi immediately switched to using an artifact at the sight. Holding a vacuum cleaner in one hand and casting out a white food cover with the other, the large translucent dome covered him completely, emitting a faint glow that formed a barrier around him.

Standing within the food cover for a moment, Zhao Bi eventually stepped outside, the cover moving with him.

"Could it have been my imagination..." he muttered to himself, preparing to go back for his light when all of a sudden, a swath of darkness enveloped his face. He struggled, positioning the vacuum cleaner to his head in an attempt to suck away the entity, but it proved futile.

Then the vacuum cleaner transformed into a knife, and he slashed at his own face several times to no effect.

As time passed, Zhao Bi’s frantic self-rescue efforts dwindled to mere instinctual struggles. Collapsed on the ground convulsing, it wasn’t long before he quietly breathed his last.

After his death, the shadow that had covered his face crawled away like a disembodied shadow, vanishing at the doorway of the bathroom.

Elsewhere, Kong Cheng, seeing that Zhao Bi had been gone for a while, sent another player to check on him. Upon learning of his death, he took Dr. Deng with him to investigate.

"He suffocated to death," Kong Hui announced after examining the body, adding, "Thankfully he wasn’t smothered while peeing. That would have been embarrassing."

The group of players had been hastily assembled, sharing little camaraderie, to the point that even the player who came to check had already recovered several fallen artifacts.

"Who killed him?" asked another player, dressed in a rubbery jacket.

All of the ticket players had gone up earlier, and no one had come back down since. The rest had been together, leaving no opportunity for an insider to commit the deed.

"Could there really be a ghost?" the remaining female player wondered.

"Didn’t Dr. Deng say those were all rumors?" Kong Hui gave her a cold glance before saying, "A player must have come down without us noticing it."

Kong Cheng nodded in agreement, immediately saying, "Let’s not stay here any longer. Let’s move up and regroup with the others."

Upstairs, Xu Huo and his team avoided Dr. Deng’s people and descended to the first underground level. They hadn’t encountered Ge Pan or Wu Xiaonan, but had run into Miao Yu as they came up earlier.

Upon seeing each other, Miao Yu said, "All this wandering around, and not only no Ghost Shadow, but not a soul in sight."

Keeping a considerable distance, Gan Qing examined the dismantled door panel before feeling assured.

Observing his actions, Miao Yu raised an eyebrow and asked, "Did you encounter other players turned into ghosts?"

After a brief exchange with Xu Huo, Miao Yu added, "So you can actually see Ghost Shadows through the glass. I don’t have any on me, do I?"

If she did, they wouldn’t be having such a calm conversation.

"But don’t you find it strange?" Miao Yu suddenly said. "The lab has grown quiet. There used to be some noise."

Sounds of fighting, which now seemed to have ceased, leaving the entire underground structure in silence.

The group exchanged glances and followed the direction to the remaining rooms; it didn’t take long before they discovered the body of a player in an office with a sea view. It was someone from Dr. Deng’s team.

He had died of suffocation as well.

"Another one killed by the Ghost Shadow."

The group stood in the room for a while before walking out, and just by coincidence, Dr. Deng and his people were reaching the doorway. Kong Hui was the first to spot the body inside. Her eyes changed, and objects scattered throughout the room started levitating, shooting at the four of them like bullets!

"Run!" Xu Huo took the lead and rushed out of the room, grabbing a pen in his hand, reaching the corridor before the eyes of everyone else. In just a few seconds, the Kong Siblings reacted and immediately used their props to seal off the hallway. Meanwhile, Kong Cheng made a grasping motion from a distance with his five fingers: "Random Grab!"

Chu Yuan, standing next to Xu Huo, was seized by an invisible force and sent flying backward.

Xu Huo quickly grabbed him, but he was also dragged out. The two of them, one flying and the other being pulled, uncontrollably moved closer to Kong Cheng.

Kong Hui stepped out from the side, her hands flung outward, and a pair of swords appeared out of thin air, chopping towards Chu Yuan, who was the closest.

"Relationship Break!" Just as he was about to be cut into three sections, Chu Yuan erupted in midair, twisting his body and stretching out his palm towards Kong Hui. Both the swords and she herself were teleported ten meters away.

But that just dodged the immediate strike. The speed at which he was moving backward hadn’t decreased, and while Kong Cheng remained stationary, another female player took her place.

Seeing the knife in the opponent’s hand, Chu Yuan shouted, "I don’t want to die!"

As soon as he said that, a solid wood cabinet appeared in midair. The doors swung open, trapping him inside, and it landed with a thud on the floor.

Xu Huo, carried forward by inertia, stopped in front of the cabinet. With one strike of his sword, he sliced off the arm of the knife-wielding female player, then kicked the cabinet towards Dr. Deng. Taking advantage of the cabinet’s flight, he also rose into the air with the help of the guitar strings, switching the Crimson Sword for a chainsaw, which roared as it swept toward Dr. Deng!

"Clack! Clack! Clack!" The chainsaw didn’t harm Dr. Deng but was instead caught by Kong Hui’s twin swords. The woman displayed astonishing strength, yanking her arms in the opposite direction and severing the chainsaw. The sword tips nearly touched Xu Huo’s throat, but as he leaned back, he managed to break the seemingly indestructible strings with a simple tug—freeing himself from the prop "Seven Days Civil Affairs Bureau"!

Even though he was free from the prop’s restraint, danger was far from over. Kong Hui leapt from where she was and stomped towards his chest in midair.

Seeing her twisting, worm-like thing on the sole of her shoe, Xu Huo quickly had the guitar strings shift direction, dodging the attack and throwing the "Fair Wallet" at her.

"Clang!" Kong Hui’s swords dropped to the ground. Her gaze darkened, and without stooping to pick up her own props, she lifted a finger and the two swords flew up, stabbing towards Xu Huo!

"Bang!" The Crimson Sword swung and sent the two blades flying into the wall. Xu Huo took out "Lament of the Plants" and patted the cabinet to signal Chu Yuan to come out.

Chu Yuan had seen Kong Hui’s ferocious attack from inside the cabinet. Her brother was not to be outdone. His abilities were not only strange but also surpassed hers in combat. Gan Qing was injured after only a few exchanges, and it was Miao Yu who managed to hold him back with her own strength.

But being at a disadvantage was only a matter of time. No one there had the confidence to kill a Rank-B player.

"Run, run, run!" Chu Yuan crawled out and fled. Xu Huo threw a prop-lined sofa like a windmill onto the ground and quickly retreated.

The Kong Siblings, originally intending to chase them, saw the swirling sand and immediately turned back to protect Dr. Deng. An Invisible Protection opened around the five of them, guarding the people while pushing the sandstorm away, expanding all the way to the end of the hallway. However, by that point, the sandstorm had stopped, and Xu Huo and the others had vanished without a trace.
